Amazing Amp I jumped many levels up when I bought this amp in the form of creative strumming. I appreciate the time you took to reassure me that this amp does not need to be complicated though as far a designing a unique sound with my Strat American Delux. I feel there is nothing else in the world better as far as being on board and ready for any sound and the ones that no one has heard before.
Actually I used to use Marshall amps but a friend in my church got me hooked into this amp and I use it everywhere.Programming patches has made gigging so much easier.
I have this Amp, and they did a poor job of Mic 'ing it in this video. You can get ANY sound out of it. The Distortions are really good, you can tweak them to your liking with Hi-Gain / Metal and / Insane - with 2 modes each. Everyone always says- "... they are made in China, and Line 6 doesn't have that Marshall, Blackstar, Fender, handmade type feel or sound." A lot of that is the public perception telling you it's not good because of that. But unless you want to put down $2500 - $3000 for a "Name Brand" Head and 4 speaker cabinet. Then add another $500-$1000 for a nice pedalboard and stomp pedals. You are looking at $4,000 plus!! This setup with the Footboard is around $1500 for everything. And Bogner designed the tube and power section of the amp. You have Phaser / Chorus / Gain / Pitch-Glide / Delay / Tremolo / Tape Echo / Deep Echo / Reverb / Auto-Wah / 14 second Looper / Built in Tuner. It has every sound you could EVER want built in. It is simple to use and there are tons of other sounds in the sound patch sections. It is very convenient to have ALL these sounds built in - running through the WARMTH of a Tube Power Section. Not solid state. If you did a blind sound test with pro players, I bet a lot could not distinguish the sound difference with a Marshall for example. I understand the pride of an authentic boutique handmade amp. Same reason why someone plays a $3000 Martin or Taylor Acoustic. I mean I get it. But once again it depends on if you have the money. For me this Line 6 gets the job done - no problem.
Late comment but... I feel like this model could have been built better. I got the dreaded "black bars of death" issue and from what I can tell, there's no way to fix that... so I was out $750 for the cost of the head and that's it. :S Sounded amazing for the dozen times I turned it on over a month's time... but that doesn't feel right when it shorts out and dies that easily.
In 2018/19 I use, LINE 6 - SV BOGNER MKII 100 HD: I like the feature of closing off the digital preamp if I want and using the 100w valve based power amp section to run the: LINE 6 - POD X3 PRO Rackmount Unit or the: LINE 6 - POD HD PRO X Rackmount Unit with amazing results in the recording studio environment or the live performance stage. After using high end Marshall, Fender, Traynor/Yorkville, Peavey & Mesa Boogie (power amps in guitar rig) amplifier heads, all beautiful sounding & looking machines, I reached a point of non-cost effectiveness in regards to guitar amplifier setups in a touring band. Roaming North America in a mini bus with trailer, we played some venues that had shady electrical systems which led to frying the Mesa Boogie and Marshall JCM 2000 HD, in separate incidents, two years apart. That's a lot of hard earned money to literally watch go up in smoke. A guitarist friend from another band had a similar situation when he lost his beloved Marshall JCM 800 Silver Jubilee HD Stack. First during a trial period of testing then switching to the Line 6 SV Bogner MKII 100 HD, was very satisfied with the live tone it could produce, at a price point for a everyday touring musician that didn’t hurt as much to replace or repair if the rig went down. So his elite gear stayed home, safe & sound. After explaining the details to me, he then insisted that I borrow his Line Bogner 100w HD setup for a few shows near his hometown. I was surprised with the quality of live tone I achieved, so I also made the switch. Also instead of dragging two 4x12" cabs around, we both now just use one.
I hate how people get so butthurt about people liking Line 6. Sure, when you compare them to top-of-the-line amps like Marshall, Line 6 is kind of dwarfed; but when it all boils down, Line 6 amps are still pretty good. To me, they're a great beginner amp, they're okay for gigging. I like Line 6 amps and I don't have any problems with my amp. They're a good amp, hands down. No troll in the world is going to make me get rid of mine.
good demo,I am buying the head today used for 400 hundred bucks,I think I am getting a great deal and thanks Paul for demonstrating so well all the different sounds that are possible
if you think about it, think about all the guitarists lauded for their tone - Jimi, Stevie Ray, Clapton, Slash, Angus, The Edge, Brian May, Sambora, Blackmore, EVH, Kerry King, Gary Moore, John Frusciante, Joe Bonamassa, etc - all the albums with a particular crop of sounds that people are constantly trying to emulate - Appetite, Van Halen 1, all the Jimi stuff, Still Got The Blues, Back In Black, etc - there are, in this order, 3 names of note: 3. Vox; 2. Fender; 1. Marshall.
In the end it always boils down to what you want, what your sound is, and your style etc... That determines the brand you get, the quality or type of sound it gives.
I'm tired of lugging around my heavy pedal board Ive been playing this Head at our local music store and I love it. It will do everything I need it to do and more and it sounds great. Sounds like a tube amp to me. I use their small Line 6 -75 watt spider amp for practice and this head will do the trick for my live gigs.
ive tour the country in a national hard rock band as lead guitarist ... i used a 5150 original on a jcm cabinet ..but owned this head right before our last long set of tour dates & was very supprised how good it sounded i was playing it on a randall cabinet the one with two vintage 30's & a big 15" Legend driver.. even though it sounded really good ..i ended up selling it ..and never really liked the name line6 on it... but it rocked might get another if the price is right used ;)
I have the original Line 6 FBV ShortBoard Footswitch, & I got it packaged with a used Line 6 Spider II 150-Watt 2x12 Combo Amp...& it really gives you A LOT MORE control over that amp...like you can switch the built-in amp FX & control how much of the effect is mixed into everything & it's really great...
@Jovanchero Any amp cabinet in the world will work.It doesn't matter what type of speakers or brand or if it is a 2x12,1x12 or 4x12. As long as you make sure your ohm load matches when you plug it in.This head has many outputs.
All these people that hate this guy and yet watch all his videos are like those people who get some kind of stink on their hands and say "man that smells horrible" but keep smelling it and sayng "man that smells horrible". Just stop watching this guy and your problems will be over!
I've always been a line 6 enthusiast. I've owned some of their digital modelers and I agree that they sound fizzy. But I also think line 6 is onto something. I'm going to at least try one out to hear what tubes bring to the table.
@44WhiteChocolate ok the dimebucker is a very high gain Seymour Duncan pickup that Dimebag used in all his guitars to get that fuzzy really rip your head off sound. Ok a tubescreamer is helps you increase a few things but mainly it makes your tube amp sound like its turned all the way up like a tube amp should
Played through the Marshall 800, 900 and 2000 for several years. Screw that. Got one of these and sold all three of the Marshall's. I'm not screwing around. Don't waste your time. This amp is worth every penny. No more hauling around a pedal board with a billion cables, just the FBV footboard, with a built in tuner and wah/volume pedal. This amp can not be beaten.
this amp is really great regardless of the Line 6 name on it, it will definitely surprise you if you run it through the right cab (especially in stereo). I think every guitarist should give it a chance at least once if the opportunity stikes, it shockingly holds its own next to the big guns.
Line 6 is great, i've had the Vetta and a spider iii. The spider is not a really good amp but good enough for beginners, the Vetta is brilliant ! I have owned a bunch of amps, also tube amps and altough line 6 is mostly missing the tube amp 'feel' , no audience is going to hear the diffrence.
All these great amp models and he spends his time running through all the effects features. Effects are great but can you show us the distortion all by itself
@Rebirth1349 the same thing happens with Stratocaster alot of people say "strats suck" but its one of the most succesfull guitars ever along side the Les Paul
@MrPintGlass I bought my Line 6 Valve mk1 because I liked it better than all the other amps in Guitar Center (I went into the quiet room and compared them all using my guitar) Maybe my taste in tone is "bad", if you can call someone's personal opinion about sound that, but I love my Valve mk1.
Im not a big fan of Line 6 but the Amps with the effects built in are Alooot better then the little pods and pedals they make. Played a few at the guitar shop and had fun. But it's also the same concept with any amp sim effects pedal thing, if you know how to tweak it correctly you can get awesome sounds.
@Valcarion Maybe I sounded a little harsh, It was quite late (3am where I am). I didn't mean to bash line 6, just that, imo tubes will always sound better, line 6 stuff is great for studios, just for live purposes you can't beat a tube amp. It's all personal preference of course, but i had a spyder IV 120w 210 not so long ago; I upgraded to my current blackstar ht40 and the blackstar is one of the best amps i've ever played.
Who cares about people saying line 6 sucks. Line 6 spider is crap, of course, but so is marshall mg , cheap peaveys and other cheap amps. I had to choose between peavey 5150, marshall jvm410h, and line 6 vetta, yet i chose vetta. Why? Amazing versality and still amazing as fuck sound sounding like real tube amps on simulation presets, and real gain massacre death metal monster on tone i tweaked yesterday. Tell Meshuggah they have shitty amps becaue they are line6, they will laugh at you. eot.
@kidrockyearrrh23 Dimebucker is a must have their and a tube screamer like the zw44 pedal and if your going to play any Dime tones your gonna have to get the Digitech Whammy pedal, which he uses at the end of cemetery gates for the Squeals
This is an excellent amp. Don't say it's bad, because that would mean you're a liar. Both the guitarists at my church use the head, and they haven't switched in months. And believe me, they're always experimenting. As for me, I have the combo. It's also really good, but it's not as good as the halfstack. I hear it's loads better than it's smaller counterpart.
@KNT0791 yeah but if you want some nice gain for METAL (man's music) you gotta add some pedals to that marshall. line 6 is just convenience in it's nicest form
Bugeras aren't actually half bad. Their infinium head series with the auto biasing feature sound really good, but the chassis are poorly constructed to cut the price. There are a lot better sounding amps but for the price it's a pretty good deal.
@Rebirth1349 Probably because of their cheaper line that just about every beginning guitarist ends up with. They get flamed because of those amps, but in all honesty, their higher priced items are pretty damn good.
@kittyleekills you serious? the spider valve cab is actually good i have a friend who has one and it sounds fine, also remember the spider valve cab has vintage 30s not the shitty spider IV speakers.
@Slashhat7 thats what I've been trying to tell people, but for some unknown reason they just go crazy for the line 6 stuff. yeah tubes inside will do wonders, but stacked with those weird line 6 modulation effects and what ever else they throw in, the tone can't sound but so good.
Yes I know. The idea is terrific. I guess the execution WILL be a bit shoddy considering their mother company's philosophy: More for less. I think a Carvin X100b amp from the 80s with a matching cab can be a gerat deal on ebay. Tone power and flexibility all in one package.
@jdbodom haha no he's just in my band and i was too lazy to look up the right word for this group of people you don't want to know or you just barely know
Why do people hate Line 6 so much? I've played their 15 watts and 100watts amps and yes they sound like utter bullshit. But that doesnt mean all of their amps suck. I think, I've never tried one yet, that the Tube ones sound very good.
far better than any of the previous line 6 amps which were all terrible, still has a bit of that horrid line 6 hiss mixed in the distortion muddying it up a bit but a far better effort
schlagdog: thanks. I was looking for the name of this brand. I just looked the guitar from jim root and it was a tele like charvel. Prety cool guitars.
@MrPintGlass Ahh, I understand. I've done the same thing in the past. Oh, I agree 110%, tubes are always better than solid state. The Valve is a bonafide tube amp. It's a collab between Line 6 and Bogner. I wouldn't buy a solid state half stack, that's just a waste in my opinion. The Valve HD100 is a tube amp, and mine has cut through the mix live better than any amp I've played with. I can't stand the Spiders, they sound muddled imo. And I also love the blackstar! Great little monster!
@metalwillhatecrew I still use the Vetta. I still think it is the best thing they have ever made. Now that they added all the new effects and updates to this I may have to get one. The Vetta was just too expensive and didn't sell but was so far ahead of its time it is ridiculous. Plus, it confused people just trying it at a store. The presets all sucked and if you knew what you were doing took 10 seconds to get a great sound.
he has picked some pretty shitty presets...in less then a minute you can get an awesome metal sound, a tad digital sounding, but nothings perfect, ive used this many times to gig , and its never failed me, and people always complement it, it has amazing cleans, with a little delay, you can get great sounding echos, i would rate this amp 8.5/10
I love how everyone acts like this is such an expensive amp, but it's really not when you look at other 100 watt tube/hybrid heads that are actually decent, unless you're buying a Bugera.
I have the Spider valve 212 Mk1 and I love the thing, but I think Line6 have messed up the effects section of that particular amp somewhat. You are seriously limited in what you can do with an effect. More or less effect and a tap tempo does not do it for me. I need a delay time, feedback and mix settings to be able to use the delay as I want for instamce. So I use the amp for it's excellent sounds and put a delay pedal in front or in the loop. It's loud as hell even at 40 watts which is good =)
@puppetmaster532 Its actually all tube except for the FX Section. Its pretty much the exact same amp as the MKI is except it can be updated with the computer and they added a ton of effects now that can be assigned to the floorboard. As always every preset will be terrible and useless because they just pack it to show off effects.
I had a good musical year of review and value
Actually I used to use Marshall amps but a friend in my church got me hooked into this amp and I use it everywhere.Programming patches has made gigging so much easier.

Great Videos -Take a number. These guys couldn't record a guitar amp on their best day. It's the darndest thing.

@@larrymccaslin9827 how do you like it?
I have recently purchased 40 watt version, Spider Valve 212! It sounds just phenomenal.

Sounds WAY better than their Solidstate Spiders I have the same head on layaway and getting it febuary.
Do you still play it?

do you know where i can purchase new tube amps to replace the one that came with it brand new?
I have this head and it sounds great. I also have a boogie. The line 6 is more versatile and lordy is it powerful.
Definitely got to have one. Even the Charvelle too. Wonder how it sounds through Marshall cabs?
I really find nothing wrong with the spider series. I honestly don't think it deserves the bad rep it has.
Line 6 Vetta is a beast man
straight to PA and go !
@Sean2592 hey man, whats a dimebucker and is a tube screamer a distortion pedal?
is this head compatable with a line 6 spider 4x12 cabinet ,it is the 500$ version of the cab that is meant for this head?
+Jeff Barrick i think you answered your own question, any 4x12 will work with just about any head.(just check impedance)
this amp is really great regardless of the Line 6 name on it, it will definitely surprise you if you run it through the right cab (especially in stereo). I think every guitarist should give it a chance at least once if the opportunity stikes, it shockingly holds its own next to the big guns.
At guitar center i tried to play low with it but I couldn't and thats a good thing
I feel ya. I had to use a power soak @ 80 % , volume at < 1. Or else too loud without the power soak
Hey did line-6 make a silver tube head ?
All these great amp models and he spends his time running through all the effects features. Effects are great but can you show us the distortion all by itself
@Rebirth1349 the same thing happens with Stratocaster alot of people say "strats suck" but its one of the most succesfull guitars ever along side the Les Paul
What kind of guitar is that? It's great!
@2020jonnybravo i thought the spider valve had celestion speakers.. arent those good??
i love line 6 amps, i also love marshall amps too. but line 6 gets the most of me. To me... both amps sound awesome. :)
@MrPintGlass I bought my Line 6 Valve mk1 because I liked it better than all the other amps in Guitar Center (I went into the quiet room and compared them all using my guitar)
Maybe my taste in tone is "bad", if you can call someone's personal opinion about sound that, but I love my Valve mk1.
Sounds good i like the idea of the pedalboard !
Im not a big fan of Line 6 but the Amps with the effects built in are Alooot better then the little pods and pedals they make. Played a few at the guitar shop and had fun. You do realize this IS a fucking tube amp right? What the hell are you even talking about.
@henkeH2 I don't know what too digital means. Can something be too tube?
Who cares about people saying line 6 sucks. Line 6 spider is crap, of course, but so is marshall mg , cheap peaveys and other cheap amps. I had to choose between peavey 5150, marshall jvm410h, and line 6 vetta, yet i chose vetta. Why? Powerball
In this particular video there's many particular particular words.
This is online rn for 300 bucks. Should I buy it?
What is the brand of that guitar?
@kidrockyearrrh23 Dimebucker is a must have their and a tube screamer like the zw44 pedal and if your going to play any Dime tones your gonna have to get the Digitech Whammy pedal, which he uses at the end of cemetery gates for the Squeals

where are the screws for your pick guard?
He's only got the four corners screwed in... I noticed that also
I wonder if this could be modded into a guitar amp?
Ha!
Anyone know what these originally cost brand new?
Saw a band on the Vegas strip using the 1st version of this amp, sounded great, but I always see bad reviews and negative feedback.
What is short about that board???
@guitarworld
what's the cost of this amp !?!?!?
i have 2 and have never had this problem with heavy gigging and use.
@KNT0791 yeah but if you want some nice gain for METAL (man's music) you gotta add some pedals to that marshall. line 6 is just convenience in it's nicest form
@faggotball true, for all the non tube line 6s. This one is different, the 6L6s really bring out the character of the guitar you're playing.
Wat cab is he using
Mesa Boogie 4x12
***** its definitely not a mesa it has piping and I think it might be a soldano I can see and s under the tape
alex bamvye Then why did you ask?
Because im not sure wat cab it is I thought someone who knew would reply.
alex bamvye some mesas do have the piping, you can also tell it's a mesa because of the leather corners they use.
Bugeras aren't actually half bad.
Their infinium head series with the auto biasing feature sound really good, but the chassis are poorly constructed to cut the price.
There are a lot better sounding amps but for the price it's a pretty good deal.
@FamGuitarist they sounds cold and metallic with all their modelling stuff
@ctyuang It's a line 6?..
It’s my understanding that you have to send the amp back to the factory to bias new tubes after a while.
I have this head love it no need for anything else!
what kind of guitar is that
@Slashhat7 thats what I've been trying to tell people, but for some unknown reason they just go crazy for the line 6 stuff. yeah tubes inside will do wonders, but stacked with those weird line 6 modulation effects and what ever else they throw in, the tone can't sound but so good.
the wah effect sounds pretty damn good for not a pedal
Yes I know. The idea is terrific. I guess the execution WILL be a bit shoddy considering their mother company's philosophy: More for less.
I think a Carvin X100b amp from the 80s with a matching cab can be a gerat deal on ebay. Tone power and flexibility all in one package.
@MrXrayguitar You'll be waiting a long time for that, since Line 6 is all MIC.
guitarworld or anyone how do i rename a sound once ive found one i like, ive got 3 sounds i kinda like so far but how do i rename them?
Is this the same guy from back to the future?
@jdbodom haha no he's just in my band and i was too lazy to look up the right word for this group of people you don't want to know or you just barely know
Why do people hate Line 6 so much? I've played their 15 watts and 100watts amps and yes they sound like utter bullshit. But that doesnt mean all of their amps suck. I think, I've never tried one yet, that the Tube ones sound very good.
@ElectricS45 no mostly digital they just throw tubes in it to jack the price up
Isn't Bugera the new Crate? :P :D
far better than any of the previous line 6 amps which were all terrible, still has a bit of that horrid line 6 hiss mixed in the distortion muddying it up a bit but a far better effort
schlagdog: thanks. I was looking for the name of this brand. I just looked the guitar from jim root and it was a tele like charvel.
Prety cool guitars.
im sold on this head man im in
I've got that head on a krank cab. Fucking excellent amp. Payed 1700au with the footpedal
Hey. One of my guitarists has that head, and my other one has the MkI. XD
Wooooops, someone has a Line 6!
I want to hear this amp with distortion and with some really heavy riffs
Love my helix connected to it ❤
@metalwillhatecrew I still use the Vetta.
I Have the spider IV 75w and i find it is just as good for the money :)
I love how everyone acts like this is such an expensive amp, but it's really not when you look at other 100 watt tube/hybrid heads that are actually decent, unless you're buying a Bugera.
I checked on out a guitar center I would buy one BUT! not until it's made here in the USA
@kittyleekills I think its a mesa boogie
A tube line 6?
@Goth3m3 mk ll not mark ll so mesa may not sue em lol kinda thought same myself though
anyone else notice there are only four screws in the pickguard?
what's the cost of this amp???!!!???
how much is it D;?
the Charvel is great!
