Thank you thank you times a million!!!!! I have been teaching virtual since March 2020 and could not get smooth audio. I legit have been yelling and losing my voice JUST TERRIBLE!!! This will be a GAME CHANGER for me!
You’re so welcome!
short and very useful. Thank you so much.
You're so welcome!
This was super helpful thank you so much!! I'm using it next week to teach dance to little kids and now I feel more confident!
So happy it was helpful!
This was Insanely helpful!!! I feel 100% confident I can do it now! 😃 If I could “love” it instead of just “like” it, I would!
So happy it helped!
Only 1 question - when I have zoom linked up to my wireless headset, I can’t hear Spotify music. Is that normal? Because I hear it playing when you press play on yours. 🤷♀️
Thank you for making these videos. They are helpful
So glad you found them helpful!
Thank you!!! I loved this. I’m going to start teaching zoom this coming week and I’m nervous AF. This helps so much so I look like I have my shit together! Haha
Nicol, I'm so happy this helped! Thanks for watching and break a leg on Zoom! You'll be great :)
It went well! Going to purchase zoom! Is that what you do as well?
Wish there was a discount tho! Haha
Hi Justina. I bought a pair of Powerbeats Pro earbuds from Amazon.com a few days ago and they came yesterday. The microphone (and speaker) on them works great in Zoom! I guess the microphone on my Jaybird wireless earphones just wasn't working, which I didn't know. That's why I was asking if there was something special you were doing to get your Powerbeats 3 microphone to work. Now I can teach Zoom group fitness classes in my backyard with just my Powerbeats Pro earbuds and my laptop!! Thanks for all of your help!! 🙏
So glad that fixed the problem!
Hi I am wondering if this configuration results in any delay for the participants between the audio and the movement in a choreographed class?
@@suzannecombe2143 Hi Suzanne. Yes, it does! I am teaching exercise classes via Zoom at the moment due to COVID-19 and there is a slight delay between the music I play through Spotify on my computer and the music I hear from Spotify! I'm moving to the music I hear but my participants tell me there is a slight delay. My voice that my exercise class participants hear from my earbuds is also out of sync with the music they say. I found this out because I like to whistle to songs sometimes and my exercise class participants tell me that my whistling is out of sync with the music compared to when they take my classes live. I hope that helps!
@@Russell6906 thanks I was wondering why some say you need an external mixer :)
@@suzannecombe2143 I thought about getting an external mixer after I found out about the slight delay but I'm just teaching aerobic and strength training classes so it's not vitally important that I be in exact sync with the music. I don't whistle during class anymore though. If I was teaching a Zumba or dance class, or any choreographed class, I would get an external mixer. 😊
This was very helpful. Thank you!
So glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips!! I am new to Zoom and you have help so much!
So happy to help!
extremely helpful
Super content, easy to understand and super useful. :)
Thank you so much!!
OMG I need that adjustable stand!!
It's great!! I linked it in the description if you wanna pick it up off Amazon. Thanks for watching Casey!
Um hello? Are we not going to talk about how absolutely stunning your screensaver is? Gawd girl
OMG stop Emma i'm blushing! Thanks so much!!
Good tips! Thank you!
Thanks Paul!
Very helpful. Do you have a video clip of you in action using this setup? Thank you for sharing your talent and wisdom!
Hey Nora, not yet! But if you ever want to take one of my classes for free you can go on my website (link in the description of the video) and use the code UA-cam :)
Thank you for these videos! You're a life saver ❤️ What do you use for music? I don't want to get sued or something for copyrights and such posting the recorded zoom classes on my website but totally lost as to what to do music wise that's appropriate , especially around kids, and no copyright issues 🤯
I stream thru Spotify and have an ASCAP license :)
Lovely keep it up
Thanks!
thank you!
Any time!
Nice. Ty very helpful. Great attitude and lots of fun.
Name of song!
Thanks so much for watching!
Just found this video and the one before it. Great ideas! Great visuals for this visual learner! Can you share any tips on licensing to share music on zoom or UA-cam?
Happy you enjoyed! ASCAP or BMI are the best music licensing options for fitpros. Hope that helps!
Your content and style is great! I am such a beginner, and wondering how did you make this video? Did you use your iphone as a webcam? and then you shared your screen? Did you record it in zoom?
Thanks Bea! So this video is a mix of footage from my Canon G7X and some basic screen recordings on my MacBook. Hope that helps!
This video is super helpful! Thank you so much. I have been teaching online for ~7 months and am still trying to improve my audio. I would love to connect and ask you some questions if you are able :)
Glad it was helpful! Feel free to shoot me a message on my website if you have other qs :)
Thank you gorgeous super help any tips on using iPad is it the same process with mic and music playing/sound - I ordered a mic setup and use a karaoke machine never thought about how it sounds / about to see now 😐🤦🏾♀️
Unfortunately sharing your computer sound won't work from any type of mobile device like a phone or tablet.
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much for making this! Question for you. Do you perform all the movements with your participants or do you take time to pause and let them go through the movement while you check form?
Hey Adam, thanks for watching! I typically demonstrate and then go check on form and call out individuals. It's definitely something new to get used to haha. If you ever want to take a class of mine for free, use the code UA-cam and book thru my website! (link is in the description box of this video)
@@JustinaErcole Awesome that's what I thought (and what I was hoping you would say lol) as I'm sure doing multiple sessions a day would be exhausting lol. The gym I am working for is considering having me do virtual group sessions for members uneasy about coming back. I have been doing one-on-one and love it, but it would be great to see how you do group to give me an idea. I appreciate the code and will definitely be using it soon!
This is so helpful! Also s/o Simply Fit in Astoria.
So happy it's helpful! And yesss Simply Fit! Lisa is doing some amazing classes online and in the park. Def recommend!
Hi Justina, i found this video very helpful. I am going to conduct my first Online group HIIT secession next week. I am not familiar with zoom and how to setup the application. Do you have any video demonstrating the app setup from first to last for this type of class. Thank you.
Greetings from India.
Hey Mahesh, glad you found this video helpful! I don't have a video like that but it's very simple to download and set up. You pretty much download the app and then create a user account. Then you're good to go! Best of luck with your class next week!
@@JustinaErcole Dhanyawad..! 🙏
How do u know if people are sharing the link without paying?
Hey Kristi! People have to book directly through my website so I have a list of clients attending class. You can view who is logged into your Zoom meeting, so you'd be able to tell if there were additional people who didn't pay. Hope that helps!
Hi Justina, I'm a yoga instructor from NC and this video answered my audio, music and zoom questions. One question: when you schedule your class in zoom, do you set them as reoccurring? Or, do you create a separate zoom meeting for each class?
So happy it helped! Personally I create different links for each week since I charge for my classes.
Great video! which camera are you using? Or simply the one from the laptop?
For teaching, just the one on my laptop. (For filming I have a canon g7x). Thanks for watching!
I've tried practice teaching through zoom, and my mic works fine (participants can hear me well) but I can't turn up my music through my laptop too much because they won't hear me as well... and I need it turned up so I can hear it myself and coach along with it.
Also, I wanted to connect my music to my speakers because laptop music sucks. How did you do manage those?
Thanks!! Love what you do :)
Hi there! I take my music all the way up on my laptop but about halfway down on Spotify. That seems to be a good volume for me. As far as connecting to external speakers, I'm not sure how to do that unfortunately. Sorry I'm not more help!
@@JustinaErcole Thank you so much I'll try that out! :)
Hi, thanks for the video.
It wasn't clear cause you spoke a bit too fast, what excactly do you have to send to people who want to partecipate to your meeting? The zoom link and what else? Minute 5:55
And what does it mean "if you have trouble signing in from the link use this manually"?
Thanks
Hi! So I send people the Zoom link as well as the meeting details because sometimes people have issues simply clicking the link for whatever reason. That way they can manually enter in the meeting ID and password.
@@JustinaErcole @Justina Ercole ok great. By the way, do you know if people must have Zoom downloaded on their device to join the meeting or can they also just click on the link and use an online version? Thanks again, your video was really helpful. The best I've seen on the subject.
Mantap
Hi Justina thanks so much for making this video I'm a yoga instructor from UK but stuck in Spain so I've been teaching on zoom for 9 weeks now. I have just purchased airpod pros but now I cant hear my own music. Participants can but not me which is difficult as a lot of my work is to music. Any suggestions? I'm connected with mic and speaker. Thanks
Hey Rebecca! I've heard of a lot of my colleagues having issues with airpods not connecting properly for some reason but I'm not sure why. Sorry I'm not more help!
I have a question. I have a wiz website where my clients book their sites I’m tracking July and wanting to offer online classes how did you send the email to your clients? Do you have to manually send it to ea person?
Hi Sandra! They have their mailing system Ascend that you can send emails to all your clients through. Personally I use mail chimp.
has anyone tried using an ipad? I can't quite get the music to work when I use the ipad...
Unfortunately this doesn’t work with an iPad :(
Justina Ercole have you tried the dual camera method?
I'm doing that right now...not sure it's the best idea...once I share music the mic goes quiet...so I'm doing something wrong...
How would you use an app/software that shows a countdown timer? I want the audience to see me, the countdown timer, and my music playing simultaneously.
Hey Mo, i have no clue haha. I’ve seen that Rumble does a split screen where you can see the instructor in half the screen and then the moves on the other side. But I have no clue how to do that. If you found a countdown timer that you like and you can figure out the split screen, that seems like your best bet on zoom.
Hello. This is helpful. I have one question. Can you hear the music while instructing? I could not when I tried using bluetooth for practice.
Yep I can! Did you make sure you connected your headphones as the speaker as well? I’ve heard of some people with an older set of Bluetooth headphones having this issue of not being able to hear. What brand are you using?
@@JustinaErcole I will try that. Thank you!
Do I need to set up bluetooth if I'm not using music for my bootcamps?
Not necessarily! But your mic on your computer may be too far away from you and not pick you up very well. Think of the bluetooth headphones as your mic. Hope that helps!
Help! I watched your video and many more to figure out how to set up for my dance & yoga. I bought an expensive pair of powerbeats wireless earphones and set it all up as described, but my students said they cannot hear my voice and the music is too loud. I couldn't even hear the music in my earphones!
Hey Shakti, sorry you're having trouble! Unfortunately without seeing what's going on I'm not going to be much help :(
@@JustinaErcole thanks for responding. I don't hold you responsible ! It's just frustrating, as I so want to get my sound quality great and teach my classes. I really appreciate all that you have shared xx
Can you use a chrome book or does it have to be from a laptop?(
I don't own a chrome book so I'm not sure - sorry I'm not more help!
what about waiver /liability forms and payment? how do you handle this?
I do this all through my website. You can check it out below:
www.justinaercole.com
I figured out the audio settings in zoom and my participants can hear my music but I can't. I only have an external mic. What am I missing?
Sorry you're having issues! When you say external mic, what exactly do you mean?
@@JustinaErcole I have an auxiliary connector mic that plugs into the headphone port on my laptop
@@msjaejontelle With that type of mic you'll actually need a few more pieces of equipment like a small sound board. This is a great video that breaks down that specific type of set up: ua-cam.com/video/FJrKY10pivU/v-deo.html
@@JustinaErcole thanks so much I'll check it out
Which microphone to recommend - does your beats work ok?
They work great! The ones I use are linked in the description of this video :)
Justina Ercole thanks but does it make noice when moving around when teaching classes e.g breathing or you hair moving around during the class?
Not really, It stays pretty concentrated on my voice
Justina Ercole are your beats lose? What do you think of the beats pro? Also any thoughts on using Røde wiresless go on my iPad ?
I really only know about the beats that I have. I’m not a big sound and tech person unfortunately. But I would be careful using an iPad bc I don’t think you can play music the same way as from a computer
Hi Justina. I just finished watching both of your videos, this one and your April 16th "USE ZOOM FOR GROUP FITNESS | online teaching tips and techniques" one here: ua-cam.com/video/unw8bLUgXJ8/v-deo.html. I'm a group fitness instructor and would love to be able to use wireless earphones or earbuds as a mic to teach an online class instead of using a receiver, transmitter, pouch, wires, audio mixer, and mic, which is how a lot of instructors are doing it!!! So, I just have one question. How do you actually use your Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones as a microphone? Is there a button that you have to press in order to use them as a microphone before you start teaching? I've watched A LOT of UA-cam videos looking for a truly wireless solution to use with Zoom. I discovered the share "computer sound only" advanced feature in Zoom to use with Spotify on my computer, which works great, but the cable-less, wireless mic solution still eludes me. Thanks for taking the time to answer people's comments here! It's very kind of you! 😊🙏
Hey Russell, thanks for watching! So you need to connect your earphones as the microphone within zoom. I show this at 2:10 in this video. I hope that helps!
@@JustinaErcole Thanks for replying Justina! Yes, I get that I need to connect the Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones as both the microphone and speaker within the Zoom app. I can do that and it makes sense because I want to both hear the music playing (through the "speaker") and be able to give instruction at the same time (through the "microphone"). I don't own Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones but I would totally be willing to buy them if I knew how to actually use them as a microphone! I'm actually curious if other wireless earphones or earbuds could be used as a microphone within Zoom as well. I use Jaybird X2 wireless earphones for working out but I've never used them for a phone call or as a mic. I did set them up on Zoom as both my microphone and speaker and I could hear the music (although there was some squealing feedback) but I couldn't speak into them as my mic. Would you be willing to make a UA-cam video showing how you actually get your mic to work with your Powerbeats 3 earphones, including what advanced audio settings you use in Zoom, if different from their defaults? I saw you test your mic at 2:29 in this video and at 2:31 Zoom said "Speaker and microphone looks good" so I know it works for you! I'm really surprised that NO ONE ELSE (after watching dozens of UA-cam videos) has created a UA-cam video showing how to use wireless earphones with Zoom because EVERY fitness instructor would prefer to be completely wireless like you if possible!!!! You are a Godsend! 😇 Thank you! 🙏
@Justina Ercole Let me try to phrase my question a little better.. Do you just start speaking into your Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones as your mic once they are connected as your microphone (and speaker) within the Zoom app or do you actually need to press a button or two on your Powerbeats 3 earphones to get them to work as your mic so that you can give instructions to class participants as you work out?
Hey Russell, there’s a built in mic so as long as you connect your headphones to the Bluetooth on your computer, the option should come up to choose your headphones as your mic. Does that answer your question?
@@JustinaErcole Hi Justina. I did connect my Jaybird X2 wireless earphones to my computer via Bluetooth and I did choose them as both my speaker and microphone within Zoom but my microphone didn't work when I tested it in Zoom because I didn't hear a replay (like you did from 2:28 - 2:31 in this video). So, maybe my mic isn't working but should be? I'll try calling Jaybird customer service tomorrow and see if they've got any advice. Thanks for your help!
love this video, got some beats-can not make my music low enough from iTunes or spotify so i'm still screaming for them to hear me, any way to fix this on zoom?
Hey Ami! Have you pulled down your audio within iTunes or Spotify (not on your computer)? That works fine for me.
@@JustinaErcole yes, I just can't seem to get my mic higher than my music.
i hate zoom app 😫😫😫
It can totally be a pain but it's the best platform (in my opinion) for a multitude of different things. I feel you though!
