I initially thought the town was Nihill, got on google maps and found out it wasn't It is Clunes apparently. The architecture of the shops look kind of similar though. That ambulance logo looks pretty cool. Ford F100s make more of an impressive appearance in the second movie.
It's mainly because the budget was super tiny. They couldnt even really pay the guys building the bikes and cars, I think Kawasaki loaned them a few Zeds but they didnt get them back the way they were delivered :D
That's because the movie had a a shoe-string budget, it was actually on the Guiness world record for most profitable movies for decades because it was such a hit and cost so little to produce. Almost all the vehicles were donations or belonged to the cast, the blue van you see destroyed during the Nightrider chase belonged to the director.
That because the MFP isn’t the regular police. They are specially trained for high speed pursuits on Australia large highways where gangs where robbing semi trucks transporting goods.
The Main Force Patrol was not meant to be a police force that ran all of Australia,in the future,as it was set up,by the Australian government to combat marauders on the vast highways, who robbed people & road-trains,carrying supplies (Like fuel & other consumable goods) that were meant to be rationed,by the Australian government, following the fuel crisis. The MFP was a section of the Australian,Federal Police, whose officers had basic Commando-training, advanced driving-training,first-aid/combat-medical, hand to hand fighting training, etc, taught to them by Australian Commandos. The Accident Appreciation Squad of Victoria Police, dealt with road-accidents & pursuing the Toecutter was the job of the MFP,unless the Toecutter went into the city of Melbourne, where the Victorian Police would chase him & his gang. It was implied that Max himself was a former Victorian Police constable (A probationer Police Constable,I think?)who was recruited into the MFP,as he was a top-performing policeman-according to Terry Hayes novel, where MFP personnel were mainly recruited from the various regular police forces.

There battling police (it's long rumoured there is a deleted scene where the gang attack MFP headquarters) and also warring with other gangs for fuel, the helmets are not just for road safety.
Read once that the helmets were used, so they could use stuntmen without any problem. But yep, saw it back in 1979 when it came out and no biker gang with any self respect used/uses safety helments.

Loved how random and insane these guys were...like each and everyone of them...from The Naught Ridaa...to Toecutter and Johhny...to the guys waltzing @02:18....
The best movie ever made
The first film is essentially a Wild West film on wheels.
As good as the original Mad Max and Road Warrior are, it always feels like there's another movie or two missing between the two.
Movie makes me love my UJM bike that much more.
Toecutter was gonna crush that guy's jaw 😂😂
Just one push on the end bike and they'd all topple over like dominoes.
Yeah, but who would want to be that guy?
Where's Clint Eastwood or his Granny right now?
Yes. And then you'd have 20 angry men ready to beat the crap out of you, then use your anus to 'get some relief' (like they did the guy seen running through the field...) Of course, we all make our choices in life...
Love the fact the bike gang leader is so tough he has a wrist support on ha
1番好きなシーン…
Watched this movie dozens of times and never noticed the dog at 1:30 until today.
I knew he had it on back of bike but only today have i noticed being played with by the rider. This is when toecutter is walking with jonney the boy. I have seen this seen dozens of times but only just spotted it
If you hadn't mentioned it, I probably would never have noticed. 🙂
Now that's how you arrive in to a town with your pal's
this movie was put together good
SIDI product placement! Viva l'Italia!
At least they believe in wearing Morton cycle helmets for safety.
Weren't too hard core I guess?!!😂
There battling police (it's long rumoured there is a deleted scene where the gang attack MFP headquarters) and also warring with other gangs for fuel, the helmets are not just for road safety.
Lol that means they were wimps
Read once that the helmets were used, so they could use stuntmen without any problem. But yep, saw it back in 1979 when it came out and no biker gang with any self respect used/uses safety helments.
@@truefilm6991 Hells Angles wear helmets AND have insurance
All I need to know about Australia I learned from the documentaries Mad Max & the Road Warrior.
One of the Glory Riders is actually a strapping lady. Did anyone notice? You see her when they throw a town citizen through doors or was it was a large window?
The actor who played Toecutter (this video) and Immortan Joe (Mad Max Fury Road) has passed away.
Goddamn, him AND DMX? WTF.
Everyone here is a max fan
WE ARE WELL AWARE OF THAT
We also mourn his passing and miss him deeply
there's no need to tell a fan base of Max fans that Hugh (Not... the actor who played Toecutter I mean a bit of respect is in order.. right ?)
has passed away
His name was Hugh Keays-Byrne
THAT IS HIS NAME
SAY HIS NAME .....
REMEMBER HIM WHEN YOU LOOK TO THE NIGHTS SKY
THE BEST MOVIE
1:56 same actor played Immortan Joe
Thanks to this movie, if I ever get a motorcycle, I will always use a helmet, since it can look so good.
Oh my god!!!
He’s wearing a……
B B Bubble visor!!!
( runs screaming over the horizon)
Great film.
Bubba was cool.
Must of cut his heart out eh ?
Which railway station was this filmed at ?
I love these Austrailian documentaries
Is this Portland?
Probably not, there's no soy on sale.
No. I didn't see any communists .
This is the movie that made me start riding street bikes
This is the movie that made me consider testing out .....
if i had a chain and there was a passing car LOL
and i wrapped the chain around it's roof racks
would the car literally rip my wrist from my hand
Man, i've spent many hours contemplating this and trying to test it.
Ultimately.... i bitched out
LOL
I love this scene so much
Last bike in the line up, the green one, Laverda Jota.
4:09 Adam Ant with white tie 😂
O:38 Love that line from Max (Well I'll add it to my threat collection)....
i loved that line so much that i used it against bullies in school when they threatened me
LOL
They just looked at me, it's funny how even saying something weird like this can keep you out of a fight
but of course.. it's also seriously cool
So, if I remember this scene correctly, there was a high fatality accident caused by Toecutter's gang.
Hello! Where is mentioned that exactly?
@@LextasysMedia At the beginning. It's at night, and the local police as well as the Main Force Patrol are responding to that huge accident.
Although it could have just been a random isolated incident.
I believe one of the stunt riders was killed or seriously injured during the scene where Max ran the bikers off the bridge into the water.
You can see the biker got hit in the back of the head by his bike tumbling toward him
@@llamamanism I'm pretty sure he survived. But I have no doubt that he was badly hurt.
Nothing Clint Eastwood can't handle with a little help from an orangutan. "Right turn Clive."
It was Clyde.
I'm watching this movie in 1985 amazing this movie Best roll in Mel Gibson my favrit actor in Hollywood
“ Must have cut his heart out”
These guys should open their own bakery, and call it the Toe Jam.
I didn't remember it being this cheezy. lol
great exhaust note !
Ojalá algún día la suban completa y en Español.
A bunch of bullies pretending to be tuff guys!
Never noticed a camel at 1:50
Baba Johny whooooo
I'm not sure what a milk bar is, but I want to try. IIRC I saw this movie when I was 10 or so, loved it.
Yeah, my city used to have a lot of them in the 60s and 70s. Kinda intrigued by the idea.
Milk Bars are just corner stores, got food, groceries etc, they used to be around until recently. Some still are. Back when you had video stores and a pizza place, milk bar was what had hamburgers and cokes etc. kids and teens would usually hang out there before moving on to the days adventures. Good times.

My home town, Clunes, Victoria, Australia.

so my question is this....
Is there any good accomodation for 1 night so we can enjoy clunes are bit longer ?
what do you recommend
Remember... if it sux, i'm coming to your house to blame you LOL
on the other hand if its good, i'll shout you a beer at the pub and allow you to throw me out of the doorway of Timeless Harmony
while my mate video tapes it LOL
That’s a real bikergang..... no single vibrant HD in sight....
😄👍
Old Clunes hasn't changed very much. Except the Central Garage is now a Woodworking shop. We went there after MM 40th Anniversary. The blinds that were in the window of garage that Reg Evans (RIP 😪) looks through were for sale. I'm still kicking myself for not buying them. The Clunes trainstation has changed alot though. Got a mate to take a pic of me against the last post in the Hugh/Toe Cutter pose. Will be there for WWH 2023 for the Memorial Ride for actors that have passed. Going to pay tribe to PJ by doing the Push me shove you, oh yeah says who scene.
My home town. Went for a walk there tonight and remembered to watch this scene when I got home. I live in the same street, Fraser Street. Loved that film when it premiered, never thought I'd end up here. Didn't know it was the Mad Max town until i settled here. Lot's of films made here since.
@@ibanmayo2 For sure. It hasn't changed much. Did you go to the Clunes train station as well ?
And Reg Evans. I met him before he died in the Black Friday bushfires. Really sad loss.
Yes we did. Lovely old train station.
Where is beautiful Joanne Samuel's name from cast list?
Great wardrobe, perfect bikes (couple ratty Triumphs would've been good though) and a nice bunch of guys - way better than the Hollywood wannabe types.
