1973 Yamaha SG 45

A very cool and very RARE 1973 Yamaha SG 45 thats all original to include the knobs, Tuners, Pickups, Tailpiece, et all! Beautiful example. Check it out!
The Yamaha SG45 was made in Japan from 1973 thru 1975. We were told this one is a 1973. We have no way to document that but it's one of those three years.
The guitar is not perfect. It has players dings, scratches and a few bangs on the headstock but other wise is crack free. The crack on the headstock is only thru the finish. No wood cracks on this guitar. See pics 9 and 10.
The guitar has the fabulous Maxon Super 60's pickups that sound great. Original Pickguard and truss rod cover... those are always missing and to have the original knobs is great. These guitars show up all the time with incorrect knobs. I love the Yamaha branded Individual enclose Tuners. They still work great. We had Jeff the Tech check out all the electronics and set it up with awesome low playing action with a new set of Dr Ducks 10 gauge strings. It plays and sound great. Those pickups are HUGE! Love the sound of these pickups.
The guitar weighs 8 lbs 5 ozs... Not as heavy as your Les Paul for sure... It has 22 frets, a 24 3/4 inch scale neck and the nut measures a ful 1 3/4 inches. Big hands will like this one but I like it as well. It doesn't feel huge to me at all. It has a Mahogany Neck and a Rosewood fingerboard. The body is made of "Katsura" Wood. That is a hardwood species that is native to Japan, China and Korea. I thought that was interesting. It also has a very interesting back cavity to house the selector switch and pots. See pic 14. Sure glad the back cover was with it. Try to find one of those!!
Plays and sounds great. Has some player dings and such, check those pics. The guitar is just great for a 51 year old guitar! Has what we were told was the original hard shell case. Has all the original hinges, latches and handle. All operating as they should. Nice interior and a beautiful case for your cool Yamaha guitar!
Beautiful but its vintage and used so it's sold as is no returns. Thanks for respecting that.
