An excellent shape, 1996 Gibson Epiphone Les Paul Standard Limited Edition, in Silver Sparkle finish. These guitars were only made from 1996 thru 2000. They reissued them with both front and back in Sparkle in 2011. This one is dated from the serial number to be a 1996.
The guitar is stamped on the top of the back of headstock as a 2nd. See pic 12. No idea after all this time why it was sent as a second. It's usually a finish imperfection. They don't let any out of the factory with much else wrong with them. They were especially proud of this model as they used the Gibson Truss Rod Cover. See pic 9
The guitar plays great. We set it up with a new set of 9 guage strings. The action is whisper low and it sound massive. These Epiphone Pickups are very very strong. All original and in great shape. The frets show that the guitar was played...a lot! We cleaned them up and have minor wear. Plenty of life left in them. The previous owner put some red material on the bridge adjusters to show where he liked the height. I thought that was a cool idea and left them on. You can certainly remove them.
Nothing under the hood looks like it was messed with. Some indication that the input jack may have been replaced. It still has the original pots. If I was going to gig this guitar, I would certainly suggest replacing them with CTS pots at some point.
This Epi has a 24 3/4 Scale neck and the nut measures 1 11/16 inches. It has a Slim Taper Profile with 22 frets. The body is solid Mahogany with a set Mahogany neck. The guitar weighs in at 9 lbs 4 ozs. It's a Les Paul!!
Very cool guitar and we also have the original Epiphone branded Hard Shell case. As nice as the guitar! All latches, hinges, back restraint strap and handle are all present. The accessory box is still with it and the Gray Plush lining is still very beautiful.
