The video I was waiting for! I want to love the Rad One for CrossFit, but I come from years of Nobull and for some reason they feel “bully” to me. The Rads are definitely great for runs and somehow feel better on my knees but I just feel more stable and quick in my Nobulls…
Interesting. If I had to guess, that's likely due to them having a softer midsole which will take away from some of the sharper ground feedback you feel in the NOBULLs/similar trainers with lower stack height and denser midsoles. That's pretty normal, imo! Likely feel better on the knees due to them being a bit more forgiving/responsive for a midfoot/heel strike gait, just speculating without seeing your running form!
Hey Jake, sort of an odd questions, but you're the fitness shoe guy so it seems appropriate. I have issues getting extremely sore arches (i think anyways) from wearing my Reebok Nanos. I can lift and do most movements with no problem, but anytime I'm doing high rep box jumps (or even box step overs) or running (we usually only do 200-400m per rd during metcons) my feet HURT for days. Even have had issues post-bounding. I've heard good things from Strike Mvmt and The Vans Ultrarange, but just wanted to get your two cents on the subject for something with a little more "cushion" than the Nanos and Metcons. Thanks!
Before I answer, I have a follow-up. How do the Nanos fit? Does the arch feel like it's pressing into your midfoot or do you feel like the toe box is snug?
@@thatfitfriend I do feel the arch pressing into the midfoot a bit, the toes are fine though, I don’t have wide feet or anything, but I have plenty of space in the toes as far as the width goes. The length could be a bit shorter probably, but I tried them on in the store and the have size down had me scrunching
@@jcash0777 Got it! Hmm - potentially the On CloudPulse (can try those on in store at the mall) or models like the PUMA PWR Nitro Squared may be worth exploring. They won't be the best for lifting, but for dynamic stuff where you want more midsole they do well!
Any reccomendations for brands which are generally on the narrow side? Currently using inov 8 f lite range but even they can swallow my feet a bit! Thanks
Not crazy hard, tbh. Was just a brief point of friction on concrete. Other trainers that I've hit similarly in that lens that haven't ripped outright include: CXT-1/TriBase Reign 5/BP Savage. Just the nature of the materials, though, and how they handle stress. Uppers on models like the RAD/Haze can rip easier, but they also look more casual. Some uppers will always lack more than others due to their material type - which isn't bad or good, per se, it's just their limitations in contextual use!
One of these did me in: either the shuttle runs I was playing with or pickleball. Either way, have had other shoes not rip that easily when doing these activities

Thanks for the review. I think I prefer the CXT-2 and keep eye out when they go on sale.
I feel like we'll see some as the holidays quickly approach

Yes! That exactly the same to me - Still looking for a replacement for nobull that is slightly more comfortable and breathable
Team Nano or Haze Trainer!! haha. great video, Jake.
Not a bad lineup! Thank you, sir

What colorway was this RAD? I love this color .
I forget what these were called, tbh! It's been a while since they dropped
What’s a trainer that’s generally wider and has decent cushion? I have bad plantar fasciitis and certain low cushion shoes make it worse
My question for you - what do wear currently and how do those fit? Want a better idea of what you consider wider before recommending my picks
Currently wear UA slipspeed, Nike air zoom tr1, and converse… 🫤
The TR1s are pretty good on width just looking for a bit more cushion

Jake,
For mostly lifting with some jump rope and sled work:
CXT-2 or Inov8 F-Lite? (not Max)
F-Lite!
Hey Do you use the same size for both??? Or is different? Thanks for the video🙏
I do! Generally speaking, if you have a wide foot, you'll want to go up a half size in both.
Any reccomendations for brands which are generally on the narrow side?

RAD/TYR CXT1/New Balance Minimus TR can all be great!
How hard was the scrape that caused the tear on the rad’s?

I’m here for the Rad vs CXT2 vs heelies 😂
It would be a 5-second video of me saying Heelys are sick and they win

What were you doing on concrete that tore the TOP of your shoe? Lol
One of these did me in: either the shuttle runs I was playing with or pickleball. Either way, have had other shoes not rip that easily when doing these activities
Just curious, do you know how much wider the CXT-2(wide) is compared to the regular CXT-2?
I do. I talk about that in my sizing section in my TYR comparison video if you want to check that out!
Rads consistently hurt my pinky toe. Still have to try the TYR’s.
@@Man_About_Town_ their toe box is a downfall for some, for sure!
Go wide if you do based on that pinky comment!
TYR CXT-2 & wide is *7mm* drop. RAD1 is 6 mm. According to their websites.
