7 VR exclusives is a CRAZY first year. SEVEN!
    1) Gran Turismo 7
    2) Resident Evil 8
    3) Resident Evil 4 Remake
    4) Synapse
    5) Firewall Ultra
    6) Horizon Call of the Mountain
    7) Switchback VR
And 5 out of these are on the "great" end of the spectrum! That's mad.

dude.... you missed the best psvr2 game of them all. NO MANS SKY!!! that changed the game completely in regards to psvr2. If you have not tried it yet, prepare yourself to have your mind blown wide open. all those games in your list are great games, but they dont even begin to compare to no mans sky on the psvr2.

Really happy with this 1st year. Yes, I wish it was more popular and less of a niche product, but what we have here is stellar. As fans, WE MUST keep buying games and keep it a float. If sales do drop too low, Sony will definitely abandon support as history has shown. I'm praying that doesn't happen!

Let clarify the MURA that you see. The Mura can be minimized with green sun glasses. But the Mura is created mainly by the anti-SDE filter Sony used to hide the screen door effect from the OLED display. Similar to what Samsung did with the Odyssey + HMD. Also it softens the image a bit making it a little bit blurry. Is not technically MURA but the behavior is MURA like. is that layer of dirt

@@Jammyhero - it’s well-worth playing on PSVR1. If you don’t have one, then the entire kit can (at least in the US) be purchased used/refurbished from GameStop for around $130 last I checked - that’s including HMD, Move Controllers, PS4 Cam, and even an AIM Controller and shipping. I guess that doesn’t include DS4 though… 🤔 so for ASTROBOT RM you’d definitely need that.
If you’re creative at all, then DREAMS is amazing because you can make your own VR games and environments to run around in. Worth it for that alone, imho.
Seriously… Consider getting that old headset - it’s blurrier, but holds up shockingly well. Colors are actually better than PSVR2, although there’s some manufacturing variation with that and with mura, so it’s a bit of a panel lottery.

Nice review. i disagree with some things like the lenses (finding the sweet spot is not hard and oled with dark blacks make up for it) ghosting and mura may affect ppl differently cause I barley notice it which is odd. Grip buttons are grip buttons, and they blow meta craps away. Battery life is perspective based (4hours is plenty for some ppl) meta still uses batteries 🤣
But there's things I do agree with we need more gems better Sony support. Being able to buy replacement controllers I mean wtf ☠️ ect ect
Well thats just my 2 cents. Anyway

short answer, YES!!!! it is very worth it. there is one game in particular that makes the psvr 2, that is NO MANS SKY! that game alone made it worth buying the psvr2. good lord, that game.... it is literally a unbelievable experience and has changed gaming for me forever. flat screen games just dont do it for me anymore after playing no mans sky on psvr2. it is literally the BEST GAMING EXPERIENCE EVER. even better than gran turismo.

  • @robaxl3088
    @robaxl3088 4 місяці тому +6

In my opinion you are absolutely wrong about the lenses being “outdated” …the OLED lenses are clearer than pancake lenses and support 4k ….the sweet spot is not an issue and you quest dudes keep bringing that up…in fact a PSVR2 can be on your head and playing faster than a quest 3 that has to boot up and log in …I have both headsets so there is no bias just straight up facts from playing hours and hours on both..PSVR2 has better comfort by a long shot…the tiny little quest 3 controllers feel and look cheap… very awkward …PSVR2 controllers are better by a long shot in all category’s except battery…oh and I forgot to mention that the price is the same as well..the only thing the quest 3 has over PSVR2 is the freedom of not having a cord and that’s not an issue with PSVR2 anyway…and more importantly the game developers are going to keep making quest 2 games and then just porting them over to quest 3 with really no upgrades at all…you all do realize that right? They always do this …make the next system and then just make games compatible for the last generation system until you bleed them dry and then start utilizing the power of the newer system …but then the “next” system comes out and we repeat this over and over..it’s almost as if they are keeping the older systems alive while sacrificing the latest systems power and still charging full price 🤣….greed..that’s a whole other topic..I digress

Mura is quite strong, BUT it is very subjective regarding whether you can live with it. Especially in darker scenes, you can see it instantly, e. g. Resident Evil 4 or 8. But these games are so much fun, so I don't care at all. I know it's there but my brain ignores it because the OLED with HDR has such great blacks, colors, and lights it more than makes up for this shortcoming and looks better than the Quest 3 in this regard. Purple flares, headlights in the rearview mirror, flashlights, sunbeams, just to name a few examples, looks great in PSVR2! Just an opinion from someone who uses both headsets.

That's how I am too. I got the PS5 earlier than expected due to the PSVR graphical boost. I'd buy a PS5 Pro if it boosts PSVR2. I have no need for extra power on flat games cause my main screen is still 1080p. I'd like if Sony can get the dynamic foveated rendering to work on the virtual screen, I'd use it more often to play flat games. It's pretty immersive for some FPS titles. I played PS4 Village through PSVR prior to the actual VR mode release and it was a pretty cool experience.

Omg I’m only 12 mins in and I agree with virtually everything you said
    The lenses are poor choice
The ghosting and Mura is horrible
The grip button is incredibly difficult to hold, as stupid as that sounds. I remember playing games and kept dropping my weapon because I’d unintentionally let go and drop weapon. Has to be toggle.
The rings on controllers are annoying and you do and will clash them together, many times, when reloading etc
Battery life is extremely poor. So annoying to play for like an hour check battery life and they on 1 bar.
I just wish that Sony used better lenses. Good knows why they didn’t. Would it really cost that much more?

@kurgan7374 true! but the panels are different, as there’s no OLED on Quest 3 - hence the pancake lenses :)
I hope pancake makes its way to PSVR3 though for sure

@@Jammyhero I’m new to vr but guy below just posted the quest 3 has the better lenses and costs around same as psvr2. Part of me don’t like mid gen refresh on console but if don’t release psvr2 pro with better clearer visuals and everything improved, I’d buy it. I mean can always sell first psvr2

I like it,I dont regret it ,its still the best headset and game package over all the other headsets, but the fan hype is making up some bullshit reviews and the reality is its great but far from perfect for that price. There are somethings you wont know untill you try, things none of the super fans like to say and some bullcrap Sony needs to be called out on like the missing PSVR1 library for the customers bought a sub par headset, tons of games and supported sony VR from day 1.

These are the games we need in VR:
    Pokemon
    GTA6
Call of duty, battlefield, arma 3

    • @GreyMatterShades
      @GreyMatterShades 4 місяці тому +2

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, and aside from the Labo "VR" experiment, I don't think they'll be getting into VR any time soon (though it would be cool). The closest you can get to Pokemon in VR is Palworld (a very popular Pokemon knock-off) on PC is playable in VR using UEVR.
GTA6 will never get an official VR release, for a variety of reasons. First is that it's too technically demanding. Digital Foundry analyzed their trailer and seem very convinced it'll run at 30 fps on PS5 at far lower than 4K resolution. And for massive open world games like GTA where all sorts of hectic chaos occurs, the framerates are often unstable, which is a surefire recipe for motion sickness in VR. On top of all that, it just doesn't make financial sense for Rockstar.
GTA 5 measures its profits in the BILLIONS of dollars. Its userbase is larger than the entire VR market, all platforms combined. GTA 6 is likely to be even bigger. Sony (or any other company) cannot afford to pay Rockstar enough to port their game into VR, because the time and effort of the required developers would be better spent (more profitable) making content to sell to their much larger flat audience. It's a concept called opportunity-cost. Any given person can only do one thing at a time, and Rockstar's employees would make their company more money making flat content than attempting the very difficult task of porting their game to VR. This is extra true since Rockstar is using their own game engine which (afaik) doesn't have VR support (their previous VR game, LA Noire: The VR Case Files, was based off LA Noire which used a different engine from GTA).
Call of Duty is owned by Activision, which was just bought by Microsoft, who seem to have no interest in VR at the moment. Not only have XBox executives indicated they have no interest in pursuing VR, but Microsoft laid off all their VR staff and is ceasing support of Windows Mixed Reality. Also CoD uses its own engine, which almost certainly lacks VR support.
Battlefield could be possible, as the Frostbite engine has been used for VR games (Star Wars Squadrons used it), but EA doesn't seem too interested in VR. If EA did port a AAA game to VR, it's more likely we'd get a port of Dead Space Remake than Battlefield, since DSR was made by the company that did Squadrons. Also it'd be easier to port to VR for technical reasons (map size and openness of environments, no multiplayer, etc.).
Arma could happen, but I doubt they've added VR support to their engine yet (unless its already in the works). Someone on the PC might mod it for VR if the devs don't do it themselves.
Sorry to be such a downer, but this is just the reality of the situation. It's expensive to port games to VR, and with a much smaller install base than the broader industry, not many companies are willing to do it. That cost multiplies if the engine the game is using doesn't support VR. Thankfully Unreal Engine and Unity (the two most popular engines) have VR support (though it's not the best in Unity).
If you want a military shooter in VR, there are a few options. Pavlov is sort of like Counterstrike, Breachers is sort of like Rainbow 6 Siege, and Contractors Showdown looks pretty similar to Call of Duty Warzone.

how long have you tried to play VR games? I would say give it every other day for 3 months and if your brain hasn't adjusted by then, then you probably can't do VR. The adjustment period can take a while for some people. Just short bursts at a time. I've even heard that Dramamine helps. I know it took a while for me to get used to playing games where you were sliding instead of teleporting around. Have you tried the VR comfort settings? I've been playing VR now since 2016 so I can play anything all day long, no problem. Some of the different VR headsets start to hurt my head though after an hour (pressing on my head) so I have to take breaks for that reason.
