Man this takes me back to how I felt when Minecraft first came out. It was simple, but I was obsessed with the creative potential. I watched the game grow bigger and eventually got my son into it. Looking forward to downloading CyubeVR and reliving that experience. Hope this solo dev gets more funding and can put together a team to help this game grow. I don't want an exact Minecraft clone, but incorporating some of the iconic mods the community made would be cool. In addition to eventual survival mode and enemies, I would love to see the ability to make NPCs, give them dialogue, and quests.
I'd say he got serious boost by psvr2 community, perhaps enough to get additional person the team even. There is definitely a huge backlog of planned stuff and there's only so much one man army can do.
If a dev fully buys into working with the foveated rendering and eye-tracking then there's no reason why not. It basically allows them to make games that look better than the hardware should be capable of running. The dev for this game cannot understand why they didn't add it on the Quest 3 (the system that would benefit the most given it's mobile chipset) and had nothing but praise for Sony including it on PSVR2.
It might sound weird, but this game (and the fact that PC support is coming to the headset soon) might have been the game to finally sell me on the PSVR2 lol
this is a game that I have been waiting for, for a LONGGGGG time!! thank you for doing such a great review on it. in my opinion, the game seriously needs some sort of survival dynamic to it for people to take it seriously and to invest their time into.

@@aeriagloris4211 I agree. I picked it up anyway since danger/survival (and water lol) is planned to be added. I’m glad I did. I don’t usually like creative mode games, but in VR this is something special already.
It's not so much the 8k textures taking up the disk space - those compress down very effectively - it's the pre-generated world (unlike the PC version) that eats up the SSD for the install. On PC, where save game space is as big as the disk your system has, the world is genned on the fly and the save contains the whole data for this. On PSVR2, and PS5 in general, where save game space is strictly limited on a per-game basis by Sony, the dev had to come up with a different solution. On PSVR2 there is just a single pre-generated world with different start positions (which is not nearly as limiting as it might seem initially). With this version, save game data appends alterations to this world whereas on PC saves contain the whole world (and allows for new worlds created from a seed, same a minecraft).
Jammy, Mojang was acquired by MS in 2014, so long time before the release of the VR mode for Minecraft on PSVR1. But, as you said, I don't think PSVR2 is gonna get support for Minecraft (same way as we thought it would't happen to PSVR1) 😂😂

@@luiscnchl Oh I'm sorry for taking so long to write back! I did end up picking up the game but while buying games costs no time, playing them sure does 😅. I just had no time to go in until today. Well I'm happy to say this game is awesome! Just as a frame of reference, I loved minecraft. I spent about three years playing it on and off, I loved both surviving and building. This game feels pretty similar. First, it really does look gorgeous. Great scenery, draw distance, textures, lighting, etc. Second, it’s got a nice amount of VR interactions. It’s not the sort of game that I’d want to play standing up, just because I’ll be in there for a while, but I’d certainly use a swivel chair ideally, it’s useful to be able to rotate in place. Third, although it doesn’t have enemies (I do hope they get added, or at least something like hunger), it certainly doesn’t feel peril-free. The unfamiliarity of everything, the dark, and fall damage, all make it feel not entirely safe. So I wasn’t running around carefree, although you can give yourself no night and no fall damage for a carefree feeling. Personally I prefer a bit of peril, and was suprised I felt it at all, but happy about it. Fourth, exploration is definitely fun. I mean it's mesmerizing in there. If you like something like No Man’s Sky or just minecraft, you know the way it feels. The terrain is certainly varied enough to keep it interesting. And just one last thing. I was surprised no one mentioned this, but there’s a great amount of variety in the blocks you can craft. That’s pretty important if you like building. So I think crafting the right materials to build exactly what you want is going to feel great. I can’t wait to go back in, it’s definitely a game to just chill in for hours. Hope these first-impressions help!
