Something I thought I should point out is that you guys said it was a Holden which Vauxhall took and put their own spin on the Holden Monaro and turned it into a VXR with a different body kit and so forth. Well what actually happened is Vauxhall never touched that car until it got to the dealerships. It’s a HSV GTO, hsv put the more aggressive body kit on it and upgraded from the LS1 in the normal Monaro to the LS2 in the GTO. HSV were even the ones to put the Vauxhall badges on it and put VXR on the seats and everything. Vauxhall never touched this car and thank god because they would’ve ruined it. It’s an Australian muscle car that should have stayed badged as a HSV GTO
I absolutely love the Monaro VXR. And love that it's a Vauxhall as well, gives it a kinda rugged charm, it's not a poser you know. Bloody great car, I wish they made them right hand drive and sold in mainland Europe
Same, one of the things I hate about C63s and the like is the fact I know I'll be associated with the people more interested in the status of it than the driving. You can get all the American muscle cars we can't get at least!

It kinda blows my mind when I see people running 6.0L engines in the UK with our fuel prices, I got a 3.2L and at times I can almost see the needle dropping as I put my foot down xD
Sweet car though, I'm not a Vauxhall guy but sounds fucking brilliant.
Aha 3.2 I've got a 1.8 turbo running double stock power and you can watch the petrol gauge gondown
iCloud You want to cry 90% of the time when you realise you got to dump more money into petrol. But it's that 10% of blasting down B roads that makes it worth it :)
But getting 18-19mpg around town sucks balls so I can't imagine getting much worse.

Ive Brought Monaro VXR .Money was Tight So Got a 5.7L with Kooks Headers Ls2 Cam Gold Air intake. Pushing out 420 bhp . CV8 is like the GTO no body kit no dails on top of Dash. BUT are all Great V8s
I remember seeing the 4 door versions in oz. We had to make do with omega 3.0v6 in the U.K. throughout the 90s and 2000s.
For the first few seconds I couldn't tell if he was 12 or 30 lol
These are far and away the best choice for a British/Europe ready muscle car. American cars usually struggle in the bends and have terrible build quality, so these are a far better choice.
Mpg aside,never heard a bad thing about it for what it is

On the 6.0 they screwed over the boot capacity, which is a bit naff - the 5.7s have a massive boot compared. MPG is manageable depending on how you drive it most of the time, I get around 22 on average.

Getting myself a mk3 lexus gs300 when I see one come across at a decent price. Any recommendations on things to check before I buy with these and also, does your's have the CVT gearbox ?
16mpg. My Vectra is currently at 16.2mpg lol
There's two successors to this but they're called the vxr8 that both in my opinion look a million times better than this one they stopped producing them in 2014 I think

it's not a Holden sold in Australia it's a HSV that's what makes it a thousand times nicer

The body kit isn't a Vauxhall kit, it's a hsv monaro gto body kit. still a cool car though in any country
Yeah, HSV take a "base" car (I think Holden install the engine) and modify it by hand with all these bits (bodykit, AP brakes etc) so he is bang on with that point though. :)

I want one, but I don't think they're legal in the states. The GTO (this car, but no body kit and quiet exhaust) is bland. Looks like a Chevy Cavalier on steroids.

kris hedges dude the gto your talking about was built in Australia. holden was owned by gm until last year so the Pontiac gto, g8 and Chevy SS were all built in Australia and imported to the US.
Way too quiet in my opinion... even with the cat back exhaust.

Doesn't feel that fast from inside, I mean it goes but it's just so effortless. Going from a turbo 2.0 to this big 6.0 it doesn't feel as explosive, even though it definitely is.
Dark Knights Completely agree with you. I went from an Astra VXR to a Monaro VXR and was initially a little disappointed. They REALLY get under your skin though, so much character. Probably why I've hung onto it for the last 5 years!
I'm not planning to ever get rid of mine - you do get a very different driving experience though. One of the main draws of the Monaro is how unique it is, it's not like you're going to see many around. Might be hated for saying it but it's more like driving a diesel to me, lower revs, power delivered in a different way. I've had turbo 4s/6s and NA 6s and they all generally rev somewhat higher.
longer gearing . A 4 cylinder will be quicker to 40 mph

Its fly by wire throttle so you are not driving the car. You don't have to harp on about the "old school muscle" just because its not European. Seriously, if you think its old school muscle, you'be never experienced real old school Muscle. Go drive a 70's Chevelle or a 69/70 Mustang or an old school Charger.... then you will know what old school muscle is all about. Old school muscle doesn't handle, its noisy, hard to drive in manual, you hop out stinking of un-burnt hydrocarbons, but an absolute thrill and experience.
