    I bought a new 2005 6 speed Yellow Jacket in 2006, as my weekend summertime muscle toy! I always wanted a 1970 GTO, but for the performance of the '05 I figured that it is, hands down, the better car! Someone will have to pry the key out of my hand before I will ever give it up! It's still stock except for the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, on its 2nd battery, air filter replacement, and a 2nd set of wiper blades. It is still scary fast as it was brand new, with only 37,400 miles on it now! I saw only one other '05 or '06 Goat in Minnesota in 2018, and that was during the Car Craft show at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. I stopped at Famous Dave's BBQ and when I came out there was a Torrid Red Goat parked nose to nose with mine.

    Thanks for the video Trey. I bought an '06 Manual GTO new for 28K off the showroom floor. I would also mention the Ripshifter, Fast ratio steering rack purchased through the website LS!GTO. and my personal favorite, the Peddar's Street II suspension package which REALLY helped the mushy suspension. I kept the engine stock as it was already faster than I am. Mine has only 84K miles as of 01/19. I LOVE my GTO!!! Thank you again!!!

    Good video! I bought my 2004 Cosmos Purple GTO 6sp in late February 2005. Car was my daily driver rain, sun or snow till I retired in Sept. 2016. Everytime I fire it up and drive it just makes me smile, I love it. I was 13 when the first GTO came out and tgst car was more subdued in looks than this Holden based GTO. The 5.7 in stock form has plenty of power unless you want to run every other new factory hot rod.

    I just bought my 2006 GTO 6 speed cyclone grey metallic. When I was 19 I worked as a wash boy at a Pontiac gmc dealer here in central Pennsylvania back in 2006. We were allocated one phantom black metallic 6 speed car with the red interior. When I tell you I instantly fell in love with the car. I dreamed and prayed almost every day. Marriage, college and children came first. To my next point years would go by before I would see one in person, well end of September there is a apple festival with a car show in Franklin pa. I seen a silver 2004 gto speed. Had all the 2006 bits to make it look like a 2006, but a beautiful car. I said to my wife did you ever want something so bad, but you would feel guilty if you got it. My wife pushed me to buy the car just this past October about two weeks after the car show. She found it! She goes hunny if you don't buy the car now, you never will. Its everything I've ever dreamed about. One owner, 6 speed rare color, it checked all the boxes. Its staying stock and preserved. A very unapreaciated car. People would only understand once they drove one. You can tell they weren't built in the states that's for sure.

      The Goat derives from a german sedan platform. It's a coupe version of the Opel Omega. The Opel Omega was also imported to the U.S. for a few years as the Cadillac Catera. The GTO even shares some parts with the European Cadillac catera. The quality of it was ahead of its time. Most American cars did not catch up until after 2012-13. It doesn't feel like an American car because really the chassis is German. The styling was inspired by wind tunnel testing at Autobahn speeds.

I just l love that feel of the wheels going and then the car burning rubber (mind you I'm 18 and with 400hp) it's all around a great car with plenty to modify or just keep it as a sleeper the best part is that it's unique to see one every week or so I haven't seen one in a month or more and not many people know what it can do until you lay the hammer down and take off. 12/10 would get another later in life or a G8 they are sexy af!!!

    Fun fact for the 04-06 gto lovers... in 97 Cadillac did come out with a sports Cadillac called the Catera. Cadillac was actually going to make a high performance version of the catera called the steinmetz. But because of all the issues with the catera they shut everything down in 2001. 3 years later they rebranded it to a Pontiac and out came the GTO and if you look at the 2 cars side by side, the 97 catera basically looks like the GTO. And CTS actually stands for catera touring sedan. Figured I would share that since you said it’s like having a performance Cadillac when you were talking about the comfort.

    Its funny to see that the GTO's are going down in price in the states, meanwhile in Aussie land the CV8Z's are climbing in price because it's the last of its kind. Great vids

      Boost District how difficult is it to spin the blower harder on your kits? Kind of seems like the pulley setups are the limiting factors. I know there’s a lot of discussion about pulley alignment and what not on corvettes. Haven’t really seen anything over 650rwhp with a lsa blower swap, obviously ctsv and zl1s can make way over that amount but I’m talking about gto, camaros, vettes etc.

    • @TreyHerrera
      @TreyHerrera  5 років тому

      slow vette the upper pulleys usually are 2.45 with a stock balancer should put you closer to 10psi depending on your set up. If you go a 10% overdrive balancer you can get it up to 13-14psi before having to change to the ctsv drive

      Hell yeah! Yours was sick too!

    • @slowvette7189
      @slowvette7189 5 років тому

      Trey Herrera Yea for corvettes I know there’s an alignment issues so idk if there’s enough groves on the overdrive pullies to offset the belt. I know for gen1 ctsvs this is good option because I don’t think many supercharger companies make blower kits for them. For vettes I don’t think this is a good option, centrifugal superchargers rule that market. What heat exchanger comes with the boostdistrict kit? Stock zl1/ctsv?

    • @TreyHerrera
      @TreyHerrera  5 років тому

      slow vette you will have to contact roshon on the heat exchangers.

    Ls1 bobcat 421hp package 176mph in 5th with plenty legs and a gear left. Ran out of runway. Brakes are not designed to stop this beast at those speeds.
    Word of advice as I am on my second gto. Steering is intentionally slow for high speeds so if your car kicks and you steer into the slide, it may come out of the slide faster than you can force the wheels to turn back..... hence the ditch... light pole.... brick garage... spit forehead... broken rib...
    Practice steering the opposite when it kicks back and 360 her. Donut.... saved me 3 times.
    She's low and it'll drop your momentum.
    It's a beast
    The second you don't respect it, it'll kill ya.

    ...had a ‘06 Torrid Red A4 with red/black interior & a Maggie, loved the car, but I love my ‘11 Z06 much more. main reason I cut my losses was because GM discontinued many of the replacement parts, weatherstripping, trim, interior parts, etc.

    good video, though I have not seen the low prices for a 05-06 GTO in good condition that you speak of. in fact, I have seen a chart from Hagerty that shows average sale prices rising, not falling, but that is actually a reason to buy in 2019, they can be bought for reasonable and if maintained and taken care of, probably sell for more than paid, a rare car indeed.
