Great video, Im an Aussie and Ive had my LS1 , nostril nose VZ 2004 Monaro for 18 years and I still love driving it.
Huge recognition still here in the land of down under to the point that, of the dozen or so times I've been pulled over by the boys in blue for speeding 10km over the limit , I've only been fined once ( got pulled over I'm front of a cafe and had too many witnesses to let me off)
Usually they just tell me to cool my heals , talk about the beast and just send me off on my way.
With the Australian good weather and open winding roads , you lower the windows and you can easily drive at 60-70 MPH ( 100-120km/hr ) and not have any wind buffering in the vehicle allowing you to enjoy the music, conversation and burble of the V8.
Cheers, Holden. For giving us to have the chance from 2004 to 2006 to get it as a GTO in the states. If there's one thing that Australia I'll always love besides going down there and meeting some of the most cheerful people on Earth. It's their vehicles I'd give anything for the U.S. to let them have up here unchanged from their original form.
Do you have plans to obtain any of them if you don't already?
A former LS1 5.7 owner from the UK here.
One of the best videos on these car right for things to spot.
Well done pal 👍
Nice video, great to see these beasts getting some good coverage.
Thanks for the comment Rich 👍👍
the indicators should be on right in a right hand drive car. You can use the indicator and change gears at the same time.
I only drive mine at the weekend. Every Saturday morning I feel like I'm Mad Max!
There’s a repair kit for center console lid. 3D printed and brilliant.
The cup holders next to the stereo are a SAAB part and can be sourced from their cars as well.
B-pillar exterior trims are Opel (insignia?)
Indicators on guards are Opel Astra.
Thanks for the comment!
@@Jboncars for most of the car you search for Holden Commodore parts.
There are of course some unique parts on yours but not that many. Interior rear is shared with Monaro and GTO.
Even our dual cab ute version of that car shares parts.
There is also the unicorn Monaro. The Coupe 4, an AWD version of yours which can be retro fitted by modifying two underneath panels. You’d need to import a Holden Adventra to do it but what you’d get would blow your mind on Welsh and Scottish mountain roads. Sticks to the road like glue.
The fuel tanks are 75 litres, they’re just a pain to fill correctly. I’m on my second Monaro, love ‘em 😎👍
Aussie are actually searching for these in the UK and shipping them back down under, as they are very much in demand since GM shut down Holden.
The Australian versions have the fuel tank below the boot floor, unfortunately that was a US requirement to have the fuel tank behind the rear seat...
Good luck finding parts in the US. We GTO owners have a hard time finding individual replacement parts for our Pontiac GTO’s. especially when it comes to headlights fog, lamps, or any type of cosmetic replacement parts.
Fantastic car Jamie thanks for the video. Looking for this exact model myself (lower tax bracket too) They seem few and far between! How you getting on with it?
Wish i had one
HSV: I Just want one...
Best body design is the Vauxhall Monaro VXR.
Any Idea where I can get the Vauxhall Monaro front and Rear bumper plus side skirts. And headlights and taillights.
My '05 GTO still gets that same average MPG in 2023. How can I install that dual exhaust switch? I love it's original low soft growl.. but would like her to bark sometimes.
I just stumbled across your page.
What do you think of would run to Buy one and have it shipped to canada?
Perfected.
I have seen this car marked as a Chevrolet Lumina SS in Kuwait.
In Australia, it’s a hsv gto
Thank you for the feedback 👍
@@Jboncars And the non HSV one is a Holden Monaro, The commodores are 4 doors
I still remember what happened to 1 of the 1st test driver's of the new release monaro in Adelaide, he was video taping the test drive then nekminit a couple of stolen VN commodore's blocked him an the Holden's salesman in an stole it, they got the car back a couple week's later.....this thing looks like a weapon an I'd love to drive it just 1 time lol with no traction control 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What would it be like as a dailyish driver? (Going out 3 times a week). Are they reliably sound enough these days?
Yup
absolutely
Nice car ,but the vxr8 is in a different league. Especially a 2009 ls3 with the 20” Bathurst s wheels and wortec exhaust. £30k for a minter.💙
In what way is it in a different league? Horses for courses. I have had both, LS3 R8 and now LS2 Ro. R8 is better for a daily car, but thr Monaro better as a weekend runner IMO
@@richardgray133 the monaro is a lovely car but an ls3 is my dream car. Or if the euro millions come up a Gtsr W1. The best saloon car ever made. HSV forever..👍
Not a commodore you were right the first time (Monaro)
I have the 2006 Lumina SS coupe in Dubai. I guess the lowest specification was for the gulf edition... it's a 2006 Monaro body With a Pontiac GTO interior that has just one center digital display and big knobes for climate controls... ugly cup holders unlike the sophisticated press slide down cup holders. No Alcantara... the engine is a LS1 from 2004 to 2006... thats 53hp less and older technology... was disappointed when I got the car and then came to know that it's a LS1, it was the last car available in T56.
never seen the EU Monaro interior before. That's lightyears better than the US Pontiac Interior. The seats are nicer, the center console is a better design.
I own an 05 car. Gto version. A few changes but not light years better at all. My car has 45k miles on it. Tosses 451 hp to the wheels. Have had it for 5 years now grest car.
Bad drifting. The dude needs more practice to do better...
Over haul?
