after his last relapse i think James realized the gift he had truly been given (not that hed been taking it for granted) but i think the spectacle of it all really hit him, and when touring was possible again i dont think he ever takes a single concert lightly, you can see it when ecstasy starts, all those emotions coming in and out, only for him to lock in when his foot touches the main stage
It's really somehow incredible to see this .. seems like such a private moment to James. And you clearly see the moment when he gets up and the vocalization starts in the song and he "switches" into his stage persona, encourages the fans around to sing along and starts the interaction with his tech/coach there. Really gets to me :)

They really love their fans! Amazing footage of James such a legend but they still get nervous after all these years because they are so passionate and don't want to screw up in font of zillions of people 💯
Man this is such a great video, in the morning of the 26th of may a friend called me gave and asked if I wanna go to the show, he had one ticket left, and what can I say? one of the best Metallica shows
I have nothing but nice things to say about this man. James Alan Hetfield is my idol. I love this man more than I love myself, he brings me so much joy when I’m sad and he always makes me laugh. He has an adorable giggle and a cute smile, he’s just a handsome guy with a kind soul. Very down to Earth man. God Bless James ❤🙏🏻
Absolutely amazing moment, thank you for capturing this. Every Metallica fan will know in their bones what these final moments before a concert and the Ecstasy of Gold will mean to them. Seeing James interact with fans, chill out for a bit, ground himself, have a couple words with his guitar tech then head up on stage into Creeping Death is just so cool to see. What a legend!
Great video. Ecstasy Of Gold still gives me goosebumps after all these years. Got to see them at the Lyceum in 84 and few other times in the 80s, but Donington 85 with a big crowd, Ecstasy Of Gold was fuckin' amazing! Again, great video, this guy who is the same age as me is an international treasure.

I’m a professional and sophisticated woman in my 60’s. My husband is a devoted Metallica fan, that already went to 5 Metallica concerts, including the one just recently in Boston August ‘24. He was so excited telling me about the concert. Until now I frankly couldn’t hear anything than a loud beating of drums in my head when listening to this band. And suddenly something happened, it’s almost like being stroke be the lightning, I can’t get enough of their music. I’m planning to go to the next concert Metallica with my husband and his buddies.
I love how no matter how many times he sees and hears the ecstasy of gold intro, he’s still smiling, singing along, getting the crowd to sing with him, but seeing him smile….so much love for papa het

This is so awesome. I had the chance to do the same thing. When James came by, and gave me his fist I didn’t wanna let go. when he came by the 2nd time he gave me a fake….elbow to the face motion. LOL. He’s an absolute LEGEND.PAPA HET 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I feel so much with him. When "extacy of gold" begins, adrenaline is pumping due to conditioning and the stage fright massively sets in. It helps him to interact with fans and singing along to avoid being completely paralyzed by the stage fright. Even having performed thousand of concerts stage fright doesn't disappear. Back in the days he fought it with alcohol but now he has to be sober. Pretty mean...
