So there is a stainless steel filter crimped into the banjo bolt on the fuel line from the fuel filter to the injector pump. I just cleaned mine out. It was disgusting. How any fuel at all got through is beyond me. Great video and many helpful comments. good stuff.
I'm in the UK and my Isuzu NKR N77 3.0L Grafter 3.5T truck has the same 4JH1 engine and has been running with lack of power for ages - It uses the same MAF as this truck does - today I unplugged the MAF and test drove it - straight away I had my power back and no more black smoke from the exhaust. So Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. The Isuzu MAF is £200 so i ordered a generic Vauxhall/Opel/holden one off ALIEXPRESS for £15 - hopefully that will work the same and do a proper fix.
I have D’Max with the 4JK1 engine. It has intermittantly a lot of power and sometimes a little less. Will clean the MAF and might clean the EGR as well. Thanks for the video.
Hey mate Ive gone though and started to clean my intake and turbo piping, I've tried another Maf sensor to no avail, though I have noticed the blue wire on it is frayed... I'm not really sure what to do from here, do I just cover it up and continue with my clean. Or could this frayed wire have caused alot of my power problems, it feels as if the car is no different with or without the sender in. My brother also owns a jh1 rodeo and his has way more power from stock
@@a1mechanicaloakey639 it is a 05 ra rodeo, 3lt turbo diesel. I don't have an obd scanner. Though I've got severe power loss, starts fine, runs fine. Just no power. Replaced mafs to no avail, though the blue wire is exposed and slightly frayed, so I'm not sure if that would have an affect or not
You don't have wiring diagram, scanner or knowledge on how system works and how to test em. That's what I can gather. Apologies if I'm wrong. So in this case all i can give you is common issues with them. After that really need to see a good technician. Mass air flow sensor Blockage Filter net in banjo bolt in the inlet fuel pipe at the high pressure pump Change fuel filter. Clean tubing on the manifold/boost pressure sensor. Turbo control check. Vacuum line / diaphragm movement. Turbo turbine blade visual inspection. Blocked exhaust. Make sure throttle is wide open when revving. Have a physical look. Block EGR to eliminate any leakage into the intake. Any leak on intercooler or hoses after the turbo to the intake. Good luck mate As long as the frayed wire copper is intact and not touching each other, it should not be a problem
@@a1mechanicaloakey639 where would you recommend taking it in Brisbane, I'm near camp Hill Carina area. Cleaned the intake, intercooler, changed mafs. You a legend Mate , got an issue with my ute 2006 diesel starts only on quick start and white smoke only when cold. When hot doesn't start must spray again quick start. Runs fine any advice Mate.
Thanks Buddy for taking the time to reply , its a rodeo diesel 2006 , 4jh1 motor. If You were in Adelaide I would have brought it too You. My friend is having in array of problems with his 2002 diesel rodeo including lack of power then a host of elec issues such as turn signals not working, but hazards do, behaves like its in 4wd when its not, a lot of very glitchy things. I purchased a mechanics repair manual and when I look at the elec diagrams I can't see an ecm / ecu listed anywhere for the diesels. Do you know why this would be?
Thanks for filming this! Was great to watch how you actually diagnosed the problem. When you replaced the sensor did you probe it again? Just wondering how close it came to the desired graph..
Wow.very details explained. I'll do same testing tomorrow and let u know.by the way. what scan tool you are using look very interesting. Thanks.
Couple of thinks to look for on 3.0 Isuzu is that they are not very powerful engine from the get go but I have seen MAF sensor go bad. Also there will be a banjo bolt with strainer filter inside on fuel inlet pipe at the fuel pump, they can be blocked too. I got AUTEL ultra scan tool. Thank you for your support.

Good job. Never knew about the filter in the injection pump. Must check at the next service. 👍
Such a great video! You're a MAD DOG hahaha! Awesome diagnostics. Really makes you wonder who they put in the jobs at expensive places...

If it's a 3.0 diesel, it has ecu but 2.8 may not have. It's only got glow plug module I think.

Maximum I was hitting about 1200 in 1st gear take off, at idle rev up was close to 900. But the desired value was 1400.
Thanks for the follow up mate. Have subscribed. Your customer must have been relieved after spending $2500 (and not buying a new injector module)
Thank you for that.
I hope so 😁
