  • So Long Stompin' Tom
Written and Recorded on March 7, 2013 by Mike Plume.
Video by Riss Wiebe at sarcastechdesigns.com.
So long Stompin' Tom, I can't believe you're gone
So long Stompin' Tom, at least we've got your songs
Like Bud the Spud from the bright red mud
    And the Gumboot Cloggeroo.
So long Stompin' Tom, may God take care of you
Me and my wife and kids we all sing along
Driving around Moncton town singing the Hockey Song.
We were to it and at it and at it and to it till we tuned our attitude in.
So long Stompin' Tom, until we meet again
So long Stompin' Tom, I can't believe you're gone
So long Stompin' Tom, at least we've got your songs
Like Margo's got the Cargo, b'y and the ol' Muk Luk Shoo
So long Stompin' Tom, may God take care of you.
So many people I've not met but yet know by name
Like poor ol' Ben down in the pen and that gal Red River Jane
Or Potato and Tomato driving to Windsor in their car
And see walking past the pawn shop is Luke with his guitar
So long Stompin' Tom, I can't believe you're gone
So long Stompin' Tom, at least we've got your songs
Like the TTC Skidaddler and Goodbye Rubberhead too
So long Stompin' Tom, may God take care of you
Well the Father Son and Holy Ghost
They're all hanging on every word
While you're singing songs of Saskatchewan
    And tobacco from Tillsonburg.
And a million drunken angles are singing with you tonight.
And when you see my Mum down in the front row
Could you tell her I'm doing alright.
So long Stompin' Tom, I can't believe you're gone.
So long Stompin' Tom, at least we've got your songs.
Like Big Joe Mufferaw and Sudbury Saturday Night
So long Stompin' Tom may you rest in peace tonight.

As an American i loved stomping Tom. Anyone that has such pride for their nation deserves to be honored and respected and stopping Tom Loved Canada You can hear it in his songs you can hear it in his voice. I didn't know much about Canada till I started listening to Tom's music and what I would hear of a place and one of his songs I had to see it on the map. A great Canadian a great country singer and a great man Canadians be proud because he was the best.

We lost the most important Canadian who ever lived what a great man it was back in 1979 while I driving my 1969 Beaumont on my way back to Sudbury Ontario from my mother's house well just outside of the big city of Vancouver that' low and behold I seen this traveler on the side of the highway with his thumb out trying to hitch a ride I pulled over said jump on in friend and where u headed he spoke and said Ontario a place they call Sudbury i told that's my destination well i had no idea who he was or how famous anyways we introduced at the end of the line he invited me in to this place called the tavern and bought the a bottle of beer and I Sat down that's when this man came out on the stage and sang i was very blessed to have called him my friend

I'm an Ameirican and lfelong Lighthead who was introduced to Stompin' Tom by a friend in Ottawa around 2000.. Every one of his songs is so charming, poignant, humorous. Mike Plume, you really tapped into Stompin's spirit. In some afterlife, he's smiling at this gem.

The song was sent to iTunes on Monday. They said that it can take anywhere from 12 to 72 hours and in some cases 2 weeks.
But yes keep checking iTunes and it will eventually be there.
Also all money is going to the charities that Tom had requested.
    Homeless Shelters
    And Food Banks.

I remember the first song I ever heard from Stompin Tom and that was old Atlantic shore and ever since that day Tom has been my Idol and for the longest time his song's brought a smile to my face. so many time's has my day been crappy and all I had to do was sit down and listen to one of his song's and it would bring me joy. as the song says "so long Stompin Tom. I hope god takes care of you" I really do hope he does. one of the last real Country star's. song's and music like his aren't around anymore. we all will remember him till that final day when we meet him in a better place

Thanks so very much for this, Mike. I'm not a Canadian, but I grew up a stone's throw from the border in upstate New York, and was introduced to Stompin' Tom by my grandfather, who just passed six months ago. For each of my 31 years, I've loved Mr. Connors' music, and it holds an incredibly personal connection to me...I didn't expect to be crying tonight, but here I am. The way you've integrated your own musical style with the melodies and rhythms of Tom's own music into such a clearly loving tribute - subtly, without any self-aggrandizement - showcases both your brilliance and the utmost respect for your source material.
Thank you, sir. You are a true gentleman, and while I lack the capacity to declare you a true Canadian, I can say with full confidence that Grandpa would've approved. (There I go crying again.) So long, Stompin' Tom...and at least we've got your songs.
