I am 79 and in my 20’s I dated my first husband at the Horseshoe many a night when Tom was performing. My husband thought he was just the greatest. I still have all his records and a crisp brand new dollar that he signed for me. Many fun nights. After we were married our home always would have a Stomping Tom record on. Thank you for this it has brought back tons of memories. He was the best! True Canadian for sure. His songs always made you smile. Very proud Canadian.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦♥️

Hey Jack, I grew up down the road from the Horseshoe Tavern and played with a band at the Horseshoe. I was underage at the time and played lead guitar. It lasted a few months until the owned found out I was underage as the rest of the band worked at a trucking company out on the Queensway. The Parkdale, Drake , Edgewater and Elmgrove plus many others were hang outs for many east coast people. I have played with many bands since then and ended up retiring back in the east coast.

Hi guys. I uploaded this video after youtube added the functionality for uploading longer video clips. What better video to use to try it, right? I found this online a couple of years ago, originally, so it doesn't really have anything to do with anyone else's uploads here. Also, I'm not an American, I'm a Canadian through and through (I could be nothing else). Have a good one!

Myself and comrades, stumbled in by chance, to a very small tavern in London Ontario, and I had heard the name Stompin Tom and also the song Tillsonburg prior. This is in the heady times of the early 80s and Stompin Tom went thru his repertoire of favorites as a true showman, playing to stoners like us, and the regulars. Show was good, I thought at that time. Now, as I reflect, it was really fantastic and his talent shines so bright, as a brilliant Canadien Super Star. Tip of the hat to yas Tom. Need more youtube material of the man performing.

I saw him as a teenager in Minden Ontario at the arena and at the Horseshoe when I was old enough to be there and was fortunate enough to shake his hand. "Folks be sure to visit Stompin Tom Conners grave site. He is buried in Erin Cemetery. Easy to find. For sometime it was kept closely under a sealed tongue as the family did not want the public to know until he was peacefully laid to rest. They did not want a fan fair made of it. I have been there. His stone is wonderful. A great memory for Tom. Also have seen him three times and been to the Maple Leaf Hotel in Timmins which is no longer there. Also other hotels he played in, in Sault St. Marie, Cochrane, Kapuskasing. Tom was in a class by himself. He represented the working man of which I and my father are and were. He told us many things about our country that we never took the time to find for ourselves. Also be sure to look up Find a Grave Memorial as you will find info there on Tom and can send flowers and notes through email. The amount of tributes to Tom on this site is totally disgusting. I think mainly because many do not know about it. RIP Tom your biggest fan.

    Astounding !!
The irish moss song is wonderful and shows the different ways the Maritimers
    scratch by.
Doing what they can , to keep it together.
Its hard for the people from away to understand or appreciate the
    Maritimers ways of life.
    Sadly fading away.
I love every one of them and cherish every minute I spent there.

Many years ago he was playing at the Inch Arran arena in Dalhousie NB
Later that night after his performance he dropped in the only night club in town and it was packed with concert goers. So this guy with a big cowboy hat walked up to our table and asked if he could join us.
He introduced himself and I said Right and I'm Johnny Cash. He laughed and had a beer. The band introduced him to the crowd and that's when and first met him. I was a little embarrassed needless to say.
When we left his black Buick was parked outside of the club. I never got to meet him again.
I still love him 💛and listen to his music to this day.
