We must regretfully announce today the passing of the Great and Patriotic Stompin' Tom Connors. He died this March 6th 2013 with his Family seeing him off. His family have given us a message from Tom that he wanted passed along to all of you upon his death:
"Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom."
"It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with it's beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."
"I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future."
"I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done."
Sincerely,
Your Friend always,
Stompin' Tom Connors

A true Canadian, It sure makes all Canadians very proud listening to his songs and stories.
R.I.P - Tommy
RIP Tom!!!!! Canada feels different without you.
He loved the whole darn country! God bless you and rest in peace Stompin' Tom.
I say the same about the film 'Bon Cop, Bad Cop'. It's a brilliant satire and spot-on painting of the essential Canadian relationship between the English and French parts of Canada.
I saw Stompin Tom at the Horseshoe!
wish he would run for prime minister. great canadian
Found this when surfing google for Canadian Lumberjacks. Thank you Tom Connors for helping me in a debate on whether lumberjack is a canadian, american, or universal term.
I love this song on so many levels! I've never heard country music sung in French! I just love that. I also like when Stompin' Tom (or anyone for that matter) sings seamlessly in two languages in the same song.
Thanks so much for the post!
LOVE THIS ONE .RIP IV HEARD YOUR SONGS SENSE I WAS VERY YOUNG SO GLAD MY FAMILY LOVED YOU .
Powerful Stompin' Tom
I am not crying because a true canadian died its just sweat from eys RIP stompin tom you shall be missed :'(
The French lyrics were written by Nicole Dumont, and the name of the song is Hommage aux bucherons.
Amuse-toi!
Wow, thanks! I had always wondered what he was singing. I knew it was French, but I couldn't make out the words. It looks like the English lyrics singing are a translation of the preceding French lyrics.
TABARNAK!!!
I can always listen to Stompin Tom Connors, my dad likes him and he's American hehe.
