  • We have officially moved out of our Houston house and back to Los Angeles.
It made me really sad watching this video because I still feel like this entire experience was a huge mistake but I'm glad we were able to fix a home that is now safe enough for another family to live in and appreciate.
    Thanks for the life lessons.
If you're in Houston and interested in renting our house, DM or email me and I'll send you the link.

Aja, today I paid off my student loan debt. I was shaking the entire time. I've just now recovered from a crazy crying jag. What a relief, I'm now debt free. AND YOU'RE THE ONE I NEED TO THANK!! ❤5 years ago I owed $121,400 (credit cards, student loan, personal loan). Your video about your $200K+ debt gave me the courage to pull the bandaid off and take a look at the mess I'd created for myself. You've been an inspiration to me all these years. I can't begin to thank you enough for your vulnerability and honesty. I guess I still owe one debt and that's to you. I hate that your Houston dream has been such a nightmare. You've weathered it with so much integrity, again being an amazing example. I'm out here in the world cheering you on. I hope that LA is good to you. You deserve the best.

Being a landlord is not a walk in the park where you can kick back and just collect rent every month. Not to discourage you even more but be prepared for all sorts of things that can go wrong and add to you stress and anxiety. I've learned that tenants will call you for anything and everything, and being in a different state can be challenging to deal with issues. Hope you luck will turn soon!

Watched your entire home series and it felt like we were there with you through all the ups & downs. Lots of emotions here: sadness, frustration, etc. but I hope you also feel proud of how much you accomplished when fixing up this house (mostly on your own as well!). You did your best and I hope you feel better back in LA!
And on another note, I officially became debt free a couple days ago! I found your channel back in 2020 and you inspired me to make a budget sheet and then start paying off my student loans, and now I've paid everything off! Thank you Aja, for everything -- I appreciate how open and vulnerable you are on this channel and how you don't sugarcoat anything. Best of luck in your next chapter!! 💙

  • @Calcifurr
    @Calcifurr 11 місяців тому +29

Omg I cracked up at the ending but also in frustration for you! Ugh, wow!
Aja, I know it’s been a lot. But think of this house as a trophy you can come back to if you ever want to in the long run. You literally built such a beautiful home, it is gorgeous, picture perfect. Anyone who rents that home is lucky thanks to you and Brian. I’m sure the dogs will miss the yard too, but like I said even though it’s been a headache it’s also been a learning journey and a beautiful house you can always go back to if needed. Congratulations!
Another note, please do your due diligence as a new home owner who will be renting your home. I only say that because I’ve heard of stories like Jaspreet Singh who got sued over a “slippery bathtub.” He paid for a settlement because hiring lawyers and going through the entire court case hearing was more expensive than the actually settlement, smh. I know you’re a smart girl and you got this!
Just wanted to shine a little light during the dark. You’ve accomplished so much and like I’ve said, you’ve created such a beautiful, safe home. Maybe it’s not now, but in the future you may want to come back and try again. Who knows :)

If you ever plan on owning another home, i would recommend on looking for a home that has fung shui and things that shouldn’t be facing a certain way, or get a professional fung shui person to come with you to search for a home. Also, have a pastor to bless the home as well once you move in too! Maybe thatll helps!

I've been watching your moving to Houston videos and I'm sorry that you had to go through all the hassle to make it comfortable for you to live in. I personally don't like to buy old homes because there's likely a lot of history within in the home (good or bad). But when you bought the home, I had told my husband that I had a heavy feeling viewing the home even through the phone. The energy is off in the house and now it really shows. However, if you decide to sell the house, but still want to proceed with the family's business/coffee shop then I would recommend going to Pearland/Webster area--just a more safer and newer area. You'll get a larger space with the same amount you paid for in the Heights. I wish you the best in recovering from this and move into your dream home in the future. 💕

I know this sucks for you, and I'm really sorry. But on the flip side I sure do appreciate the honesty and vulnerability. I grew up in Texas, and it's so ingrained in the culture to buy a house when you become a grown-up. Honestly, I have never given it a second thought, and felt kind of pressured about that. But with social media, I've seen buying a house isn't for everybody, and that made it okay for me to continue on my own trajectory. So thank you.

Ajá let me tell you what a wonderful community you have. I been reading comments on other videos and I love love your community.
Second, I think sometimes those bad things happen no necessary because “bad spirits” sometimes is to push you to where you must be and that house is not.
Here’s an advice as a 🧙‍♀️ and also as a landlord. Anytime I go to a new property or a new tenant is about to move in I do several rituals. It’s a long list of things I do, but one of the most powerful thing is to go around the property inside and outside with Iron Powder. It’s kinda messy, but I works. Sending you lots of good vibes.

UA-camrs with 100k subscribers make 6 figures between ad sense, sponsors, and affiliate links. Aja is at 500k+ so her income is far greater than what you can make with a USC degree and great paying job

Getting a home loan without a W-2 income is a real pain, especially in LA. In TX, people often just pay cash. It's not so much about how much she makes, but whether the bank feels it's steady money. But hey, no job's a sure thing, right? And honestly, it's way better to do what you love than to stick with a job you can't stand just for the paycheck.

I really hate moving companies! Unless you have some corporate connection I'd day 80% of movers are pretty shoddy. We got screwed over 2 different companies. At the end what worked best and what we would do over again is: Rent a truck (had great experience with penske trucks), hire movers from task rabbit or other reputable source.
We booked task rabbit in our home state to help us load onto the truck, and then used task rabbit again to help us unload. A friend offered to drive the truck for us. We paid him a reasonable amount & flew him back home. Worked out great because he was able to pay for an up coming trip with that $, saved us $. Most importantly we knew our things were safe the entire time and saved a good amount of $.
I hope you find a reputable company that isn't a broker. Be sure to ask them if they would be at any point a broker with your specific move and using their own company movers for your out of state move. These companies are so tricky and often use word play to make you think it's their company from start to finish. However they often use 3rd party companies and don't tell you until the day of your move. They also end up charging you way more because random things come up.
Good luck with your move and welcome back to Ca!

    Hi Aja,
Instead of packing everything in storage, pack your belongings in a Pod or multiple UBoxes. Then you can have everything shipped without😅 re-packing. It will be cheaper too. Good luck

Maybe a life lesson, we don’t need to be doing everything by ourselves, there is so much to do when even just moving in to a new apartment, let alone buying a house 🥺 I feel his whole situation would have been less stressful and easier if Brian was there full time 🙋🏻‍♀️ c

Things will be figured out, and you and your family will appreciate L.A to a whole new level...
    Welcome back home.

just a thought - what if you were to move your things into a New Mexico storage and then call the group you really love to move the rest of the way. You could probably obtain a storage space for a month - which sounds like it would be less than the 14K you were quoted. Good luck to you!
