      Sure, but it looks like it didn't work on the rear windshield.
      Driving away without clearing the snow off every window is a bad idea, and illegal.

      @@SuzukiKid400 Running engines 'unnecessarily' is outlawed in a lot of countries, and they consider pre heating to be unnecessary, so any pre heating features that use the engines are not accessible in lots of places.

      @@-GBD- I’ve recent experience with apps from Volvo, Toyota, Nissan, dodge. All work decently but Tesla’s is better. It has more features and it’s far more responsive. The others always feel like there is a lot of delay waiting for car communication. Some also have infuriating banging; Volvo for example will not show you the location of the vehicle while it’s driving. This is super irritating. Tesla’s shows you the current speed even (none of the aforementioned do that). Then you’ve got stuff like century mode which actually is as cool as everyone says.

      @@Dat_Sun Energy efficient? Definitely not. But an ICE is basically a heater (~70% of the energy) with movement as a biproduct, so heat _is_ abundant. Perhaps you meant quick - but I think it's basically the same time for both - i.e. 5-10 minutes - so I'm not sure what else you could be saying.

      @@Dat_Sun It doesn’t matter at all because Teslas charged via coal power are still cleaner than your average ICE car. Secondly, we bought our cars because they’re better vehicles to own and drive than ICE cars regardless of the environment. I wouldn’t get rid of my Tesla if it was three times worse for the environment than a Prius. It’s just the car I want. And it’s the car most people want, increasingly. Go pound sand.

      @@metisa0034 Weird, I can add 500 km of range in my Tesla in 5 seconds, which is how long it takes me to plug in at night when I get home. Pretty sure it takes you 15-20 minutes to go out of your way to get gas several times a month.
      Charging is WAY faster than getting gas.

      All new ICE cars within the past 7 +years come with a manufacturers app which allows you to remote start from wherever you want. That is not a revolutionary feature.

      Exactly. I drive my Model 3 rwd from Houston, TX to Orlando, FL and back with no issues. Most of the time it was done charging before my family was ready to go.

    A small suggestion. It would be great to have the same planner on the app. So you don’t have to be sitting in the car to plan. Also would like to filter by hotel brand (ex Marriott) 🙏

      @@twogirlzonemike Yes, it's worth it, both music streaming (though I also have my entire MP3 collection on USB stick), but the color satphoto maps are fun and critical for roadtrips: very easy to find unfamiliar superchargers w/ real-world visual context, vs just a dot in middle of street /parking lot lines. Plus is cool to see actual surrounding scenery while on roadtrips, found a few cool interesting gems and tidbits, did detours! Almost like Google Earth surfing, but real world :)

    One thing I noticed since have my model 3 is that, having someone where to charge at the destination is the game changer for going away on holiday. This is where the real improvements to charging will take place

    I love getting into my Tesla in the morning that not only preconditions (hvac) the car before I step into it, but also adjusts its preconditioning to the weather without me doing anything: cold mornings it warms the interior and steering wheel; warm mornings it cools and dehumidifies the interior. Where I live, temperatures and humidity can swing wildly within a week...no problem for the Model Y auto climate control!
    Also love charging at home. None of those "oh crap I forgot to get gas" at the last minute moments, making one late for work or some other appointment...

      Commercial truck drivers who deliver you ev waste, can't idle for heat, air or power without fines or ticking. But a fossil fueled Tesla can run heat and ac non stop wherever. Makes sense..

      @@Dat_Sun there's a specific reason why the fossil fueled internal combustion engine truck can't idle for extended periods next to a building. Do you know what that reason might be?
      Whereas I can idle my EV next to a building (or even inside of one), charged up by my local nuclear power plant, all day long, without anyone complaining about combustion fumes or carbon monoxide poisoning.

    I love the over the air updates! The variable heat/auto mode for the steering wheel is a big improvement. The heated steering wheel used to be almost too hot. Now it heats up and stays warm, just like the auto setting on the heated seats. Simple idea but really changes the utility of the heated steering wheel.

    Feature request: filter destination chargers by type. It would be cool if I could see destination chargers near me that are not a hotel, instead of right now I have to click each one to see what type of location it is.

    I passed -45c last week. Was not bad as people think at all. My Model Y performed very well. Battery lost was ~%40 during extreme cold.

      If you let the battery heat up before you leave the % drop is much less. I noticed about a 15% drop. That was all in my TM3LR.
      Also... where do you live where the temp drops to -50f? Seriously that is Mars temperatures.

      @@davidbeppler3032 Quebec, Canada. Last week we had 2 days -45c extreme weather condition. I do precondition the car every time before driving, still that days, I could hear the heat pump was working endlessly to maintain my comfortable temperature. The car consumed 20% of the battery for 60km driving. Still not bad. The car was like flying on the cloud, smooth like butter.

      Yeah! I love the range anxiety when driving in a winter storm late in the afternoon wondering if I'll make it to my destination. And I also really like charging my car for an hour every 150 miles in winter because I get to explore all the different rest stops late at night and have people come up to me and be jealous of my tesla

    I love taking my EV on winter night roadtrips, specially charging at night for 45 minutes at a shady dark rest stop and standing out from the peasant crowd as they all stare at me play games in my electric vehicle.

    I had a Tesla loan car while mine was being serviced and couldn’t use the Tesla App to deice the car before I got in…made me realise how quickly you get used to using the feature!

      yeah, I'm surprised Hertz etc haven't figured out a way to temporarily add you as a driver for rental cars, so you can use your phone as key and remote app features... should be some simple API method to do so, just give your Tesla account email etc..

      @@sot8343 such a better experience for renters though.. walk-away lock & unlock works (no more awkward keycard, or worse forgetting to lock it), easier driving w/ start the car, etc... and all the remote features eg pre-cool/heat the cabin, etc... driver cloud profiles would work, etc.. maybe even bill supercharging to driver, not hertz?
      You'd think Tesla would develop and provide some kind of fleet APIs to major rental etc customers for this kind of thing? Hopefully not too complicated for Hertz automation to tap into it...

    If anybody from Tesla read this, on snowy and frosty days, the car vipers on 3/Y should automatically go to service mode when the car locks. That way we can remove the ice before entering the car, and the vipers are on the heated part of the windshield

      The wipers are heated. They tuck under the hood slightly to prevent them from getting iced up. If you preheat your cabin, you shouldn’t have a problem with the wipers.

      @@hikintrailsndrinkinales many times I have preheated the car with defrost car function , and after removing the loose snow from the car. I have gotten into the car started to drive the wipers starts and there are an ice block on one of the wipers.

      All part of the navigation system. Enter destination (or use voice command) and the nav will route course and plot all charging stops. It shows you where you can stop to charge, % of battery remaining when you arrive, how long to charge until you can continue trip. It can re-route to save time, tolls, etc... and re-plan charging too. Tesla will also pre-condition battery before you arrive at charger so car will charge faster. I literally don't even have to "plan" the route/nav/charging part of my trips at all anymore. Destination charging at most hotels is free too. Literally the best roadtripping car I've ever owned. 2022 M3 LR. Got it last june. Traveling healthcare worker, driven it 23,000 miles all across 20+ states. Even found free charging up in Kalispell, Mt., for reference.

      @@frunkytowntesla I like to plan which chargers I stop at mainly because of amenities nearby and price/KW. Some charges have restaurants and bathrooms nearby and some don’t. And price vary greatly between chargers.

      ABetterRoutePlanner (app/website) is super for such offline planning incl charge stops, though it could be easier finding/adding amenities along the route. Some EVs actually have it integrated as an app in the car infotainment, not Tesla..
      I do like that Tesla has a hidden feature in the car nav, supercharger details will show amenities icons near the charger... if you actually touch those icons, they bring up a list right on the nav marked on the map! so you can see list of actual restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc both names and location.

      The charger is 4 feet up on the wall. Pretty sure you can find the cable there. Just a guess. :)

    I love this feature, where I live it's cold and there is a lot of snow, with this feature I always have the Tesla warm and ready to be driven.
    (I don't own a tesla and don't live in a cold place with a lot of snow)

    I find a few things interesting. 1. Tesla brags about not having a marketing department, yet this ad is clearly made by someone specifically paid to market Tesla. 2. They park the Tesla at a cabin, and once inside, the guy cuddles up beside a gas fireplace 0:23 while charging his electric car…ironic no? A lot of cabins are heated by wood fires and don’t have electricity so it’s an odd destination to charge at. 3. They brag about preheating the car before you leave to defrost the windows, a feat that any car on the road besides a 1970s VW Beetle can perform.

    We need some at the grocery store and the golf course and anywhere a customer spends 30 minutes or more. Charge while I’m doing other stuff instead of stopping to charge in random areas. I’m the Lorax. I speak for the renters.

    Ofc, 20 mins to charging limit with 9kW plug. I got used to see numbers like 24+ hours :)
    Edit: miscalculated. On 9kW full battery charge is about 7-9 hours.

    Contact property management to use the destination charger before your trip. They have their own policy about the charger. It is not free. Even, you may need to use "valet service" to use it.

    Hey Tesla the undercarriage needs more protection for the battery. I ran over a small-ish block of ice on the freeway this winter, and it ripped the coolant hose off the battery. The whole battery had to be replaced.

    The time people waste at gas stations adds up over ones lifetime. I hate going to the gas station to fill up one of my ICE cars. I wait in line for 10 minutes then pump for 10 minutes. I cant wait till all my cars are Tesla's so i never waste my time at a gas station again.

      I do not understand the point here. In Finland there is 21 supercharger locations with 140 chargers. Then dozens of destination chargers. In addition to those of course several hundreds of other CCS fast charger locations as well as thousands of slow speed type2 chargers, that are similar like Tesla destination chargers. So what is missing?

    in a lot of places its against the law to drive with the back window covered in snow for safety reasons. Also the headlights get covered in sticky snow while driving highway speeds which you have to pull over in a snow storm to clear. That's more of an LED headlight problem, not specifically Tesla. Still love my car, short list of complaints.

      Snow does not build up on the headlights of these cars during snowfall. The cars are just too aerodynamic for that to happen. Speaking from experience.
