The regular HEPA filter cleans the air like other HEPA filters (nothing new there) but this a different filter in addition to the other HEPA filters has to be activated when the other filters can't handle contaminants in the air.

great work from tesla. One important thing is all these filters, noise cancelling technologies and double pane glass would be of no use, if there are panel gaps and assembly mistakes in the car. Please give an extra check for whenever you do the assembly and before delivery. These are nitty gritty details which an average customer may not be able to identify in the first glance, but as the usage grows, people start noticing these and compliments grow into complaints. just an honest feedback.
This is old news tho. Tesla that roll of the line in China has no panel issue and no paint issue. Fremont also has upgrades to minimize this. You forget how bad panel gaps are on any other brands. Wild fires in calif was a great reminder in you can see all the smoke outside but you don't smell any of it, so you know its working. On one roadtrip we came onto a boring ice vehicle full engulfed and pouring thick smoke that was low and crossing the road where we were going to drive through. Much more really. Window was opened a bit for about a second or two and back up it went. About 1 to 2 minutes and the inside of the car was clean again. 👌

Now they are facing existential crisis and imploding because of market forces.
As the adoption grows, the charging infrastructure becomes more and more robust. In many European cities the street-side charging is very common. In major metropolitan areas in California, all malls and major grocery outlets have public charging. A lot of my friends in the Bay Area exclusively charge at their workplaces because it’s free or cheaper.
Most people in China live in apartments but the BEV adoption is 3x better than the US and it’s growing at faster rate. Charging infrastructure is becoming more ubiquitous as the adoption is growing in China.
BMW and other ICE companies could have stated investing heavily in BEVs 5-7 years ago to make it a significant portion of their business by now. They did too little too late and now they just don’t have a way out other than a painful path to irrelevance during this decade.
This is an amazing thing to have. Even in my 2018 Model 3 (without HEPA/Bioweapon Defense) I've rarely had to dust my dashboard. The HVAC in Every Tesla is great even without this mode. I can't say that for my previous vehicles.
What were your previous cars? This is nothing special. In fact Tesla is not even the best one by far?

@@CoolSilver You can buy a HEPA filter for any car really , but buying decent filters would also stop dust issues.
But there is also the issue that a lot of dust comes in from different places.
Btw i got a jeep and a audi a7 , the jeep always has a thick layer of dust , while the A7 has almost no dust. Both using oem filters.
Only issue i have with tesla starting to use hepa filters in their cars , is the price they will most likely ask for them.
Since quality HEPA filters go for like 30$/piece , you can expect Tesla charging 100$+/piece for them.
@@LorandHungary How much are hepa furnace filters? Most car cabin filters are 1/3 the size for one. Bioweapon defense mode requires a lot of airflow to provide increased internal pressure to force air to leak out not leak in.
@@LorandHungary Teslas filter is huge. 10x larger than some others. That makes such great filtration possible while keeping airflow.

Tesla Fanboys are at it again
@@kicka55 Yeah but I think it's meant for situations when the air quality gets very bad. For example if you have to drive through big forest fire.
What they are showing is not the regular HEPA filter that every Tesla has like many other cars. This is an additional filter part of what they call the bio defense system. The regular HEPA filter cleans the air like other HEPA filters (nothing new there) but this a different filter in addition to the other HEPA filters has to be activated when the other filters can't handle contaminants in the air.
Earlier tests showed that the Tesla not only perfectly purified the environment inside the car, but ALSO started purifying the OUTSIDE as well! Simply genius.

Tesla gets their lithium from Australia and cobalt from Congo. I don't know where 'Chinese kids' came from.
@@a.banana Even if they came from China the question is which pollutes the least. Batteries can be recycle, fuel can not, EVs are more efficient, and even if charged with grids powered by coal plants they pollute less. The oil industry is not going to get any cleaner but the grid will.

great work from tesla.
Friend has an audi s4 which falls in same price class as a model 3. It had also panel issue at the trunk and vibration in the rear. His car was in shop for 2 weeks to solve this.
Just people nip pick on tesla since they were on some famous website about it. Did you hear about bmw catching fire and advise people to park outside with some hybrid models because they have no fix. Audi a8 having short circuit risks etc? No since it's not tesla and generate no traffic on their website.

Wild fires in calif was a great reminder in you can see all the smoke outside but you don't smell any of it, so you know its working. On one roadtrip we came onto a boring ice vehicle full engulfed and pouring thick smoke that was low and crossing the road where we were going to drive through. Not wanting all that junk entering into our Model X we turned biodefence on full. We did not smell thing and wondered if maybe this car on fire was only smoke and no smells. When we drove out the other side of the thick cloud I lowered my window just a small bit and WOW, we got the full effect of many different smells from rubber, to gas and oils plus plastics. Much more really. Window was opened a bit for about a second or two and back up it went. About 1 to 2 minutes and the inside of the car was clean again. 👌

For clarity, put a device in the car interior that would show the number of PM 2.5 particles.
And by the way, I have a hand-made forced ventilation of the room at home, which filters out the air through 2 filters:
1st standard MERV 13
the 2nd one that comes after it is a HEPA filter.
The devices always show 0 PM 2.5 particles in the room.
All this helps a lot to purify the air when it is supplied from the street, especially during the annual fires in California.
