In Buddhism, there never say to deny yourself pleasures in terms of degragading. It says, understand the harm that can be bought by being too attached or too withdrawn from the pleasurrs. See thing as no strings attached
Well the goal isn't to deny but to not desire at all, and the process of achieving that goal starts from denying that pleasure and learning that you are better off without it
I always found that to be more or less sad and defeatist. We are all broken and hurting, and we realize that to some degree, yet denial and detachment never solves anything it only that brokeness festers further. The truth that God made us as humans to enjoy life and most of all enjoy God and one another is where we can find what it means to be truly human. That brokeness can only be restored in Christ. Pray you are blessed brother

Honestly we should all be atheists that way we can truly understand if god is real or not and get to the truth we may never but we gotta choose reason before everything
As a buddhist, there is far more nuance than a simple "deny yourself pleasure". In fact, I would even say its a gross oversimplification. Yes, desire is the root of suffering. The path to nirvana is therefore "sever the attachment", rather than "deny yourself pleasure". The latter signifies that you still have mental attachment over those "pleasures", and therefore is nowhere near nirvana. The Buddha himself even tried the "deny yourself pleasure" path (ascetism), and declared it to be useless. Therefore, when we talk about the path to nirvana, it is never to "deny pleasure" physically. That would be ascetism which is incompatible with buddhism. Instead, it is about severing the mental attachment.
@@someperson3169 You will remain part of the physical world (which can be interpreted as being reborn, although there are several other interpreations within buddhism) until you can free yourself from all physical attachment after which point you will become part of nirvana which is a state of spiritual harmony outside the bounds of the physical world. I should add: Achieving enlightenment (= becoming a buddha, "someone who knows the way") is the ultimate goal of most (strict) buddhists. They try to live a life in harmony with all beings, and detach themself from physical desires. The only important thing to them is spiritual enlightenment. Depending on the specific version of buddhism that someone follows, there are quasi-enlightened spirits who decided to not completely detach themself from the physical world by choice. This is for example the case in tibetian buddhism in the person of the Dalai Lama - who is a reborn buddha, so his spirit could at any time leave the physical world and become part of nirvana except for his love for the rest of humanity to also achieve enlightenment.
Well, there's also the whole Sidpa Bardo claims, of some Buddhists. And Pureland, too... Seems to vary. But the vital winds aspect of the Book of the Dead was seen, as a crucial clue, to many.@@someperson3169

I am not Christian but you are by far my favourite channel about Christianity. Because you are one of the few people willing the explain without bringing down other religions. A channel purely focused on information.
For Christian other religions are literally used by devil to trick people into thinking they aren’t going to hell and reject Jesus’s sacrifice. If you care about other peoples feelings and so you don’t want to say bad things because you’re trying to save them, you’re right we must be very respectful with others religions not to scare them. But if your point is to be respectful for other religions becaus they are right, so you need to know that Jesus made sure that there is no other way to get Heavens outside of his sacrifice, no human is suited to heaven on his own, but it’s God’s grace. Now if you believe Jesus is the only way but you don’t want to put down other religions because since people care for them you think you’re being disrespectful towards them, don’t believe in this. Religion is a idea, you don’t need to have respect for any idea, an idea needs to be discussed to see if they stand the truth, there is only 1 truth, and we are trying to find it. The feelings of people have little impact on his search of the truth, and if a idea is wrong you can call it out it doesn’t matter how many people you will offend.
There was serial killer in Buddhist teachings known as 'Angulimaala' who used to collect one finger from each of his victims (right thumb to be exact) & made a necklace out of it.His target was to collect 100 fingers & since he killed 99 men he wanted to finish his killing in style by choosing Buddha as the 100th victim...& the Rest is history 😁
This is probably the single most respectful video I have ever seen about religion anywhere online! This is a great breakdown and even taught me about a ton of stuff I didn't know! Thanks for this!
As a Catholic living in a Buddhist nation, I can confirm that your explanation of Buddhism is correct. I can't be comfortable in a Hindu temple or a Mosque but I can say that I'm comfortable in a Buddhist temple. "Real Buddhism" (not the one most people adhere to at present) is not a religion it's a way of living. The first Saint of my country, St. Joseph Vaz learned the local language from a Buddhist monk when Dutch Calvinists banned Catholicism in the country in the 17th century.
Yes, Buddhism is a religion. You might be comfortable cuz its ur country's religion or cuz there isn't an attempt to get to God there so less chances for heresy or blasphemy.
Yes buddhism is a religion... it follows many of the same sanskrit texts that hinduism follows as it originated from hinduism. Buddhism talks about demonic entities like Mara and there are "gods" like in hinduism many are the same such as Indra. Buddhism also teaches of samsra and re-incarnation which is incompatible with christianity that teaches there is a certain beginning and certain ending point and the soul doesn't exist until the body is born.
What made me question Buddhism is their denialism of a creator God. Their argument is “If God, why impossible to understand” while when asked to describe Nirvana their answer is “Impossible to understand”.
Buddhist believe there is no creater God but they believe abt 5 things which decide our present called 'Niyama dhamma' 1.kamma niyama: ("action") consequences of one's actions 2.utu niyama: ("time, season") seasonal changes and climate, law of non-living matter 3.bīja niyama: ("seed") laws of heredity 4.citta niyama:("mind") will of mind 5.dhamma niyama: ("law") nature's tendency to perfect

One quick thing about Buddhism is that (like all religion) have denominations. Its how the korean monks talk about the teachings of Buddha and how they can help you get rid of desire, and Japanese Buddhism (which goes by the name zen Buddhism) teaches you the same but also has demons, the forth room and Buddha fighting the devil who tries to make him desire stuff.
Not all Buddhists in Japan practice Zen, nor does then exist only in Japan or does originate from Japan. Zen’s origin is in Chinese Chen Buddhism and is a hybrid of Mahayana Buddhism and Daoism.
As a Jew who was raised reform and now considers myself a secular Jew, that "Bruh we barly beleive in god" thing was so funny. When my older brother was preparing for his bar mitzvah, he once told our Rabbi "I'm not sure it makes sense for me to have a bar mitzvah. I'm not even sure if I beleive in god." Our Rabbi responded "That's ok, I'm not sure if I beleive in god, either." Lol

Respectfully, maybe you could answer: Who is the 'superhero' he refers to in the video, who will be the Jewish second coming? He doesn't elaborate in the video.
@@lordprotector3367 I think he's just putting that, traditionally, Jews beleive there will be a Messiah but in a funny way. Basicly, historically how Christianity formed is that Jesus was a Jew who lived his life. By the end of his life, a portion of Jews believed that Jesus was a Messiah (a "Jewish superhero") and a portion didn't believe he was the Messiah and still believed that one day the promise of a Messiah in the Torah will still happen. Similarly in Islam, Mohammed is considered the Messiah, so they claim there has already been a Messiah (edit: I was corrected below on this. Thanks @izzathekkram6472). That's the gist of it. "Jewish super hero" = Messiah but said humorously.

They just believe that He's simply one more version/incarnation of the same supreme god

As a Buddhist I would just change the wording from “deny yourself pleasure” to “stop running after desire” , or “stop clinging to desire”
Can I ask, for a buddhist, where do you go when you pass away?
Also, the Buddha said you can choose to believe in God or not to believe in God. Everything is in you. God or no God is in you.

चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागशः।
तस्य कर्तारमपि मां विद्ध्यकर्तारमव्ययम्।।4.13।।
The summary of this Sanskrit verse is that the four-fold order was created according to the divisions of quality and work. The second line of this sloka is connected closely to the 2nd Chapter of Bhagwad Gita and specifies the all pervading aspect of the God principle The emphasis is on guna (aptitude) and karma (function) and not on jaati (birth). The varna or the order to which we belong is independent of sex, birth or breeding. A caste is determined by temperament and vocation - not by birth or heredity.
The fact that he described it as a buffet 😂
Hilarious but true
The hierarchy in hinduism you are saying have never heard of it in reality ,
Also the caste system is a foreign word , the real word is varna system which defines an individual's role in the society, originally there were numerous pyramids of roles and hierachies which you can think of like a food chain and many different foodchains/pyramids make a food web . This was what it was made originally, but yeah it had flaws and turned into a social evil
in financial hierarchy the vaishyas were the top
But I do agree caste system is real
And its diminishing rapidly , but for fact the generation after 2000s rarely face caste problems its mostly present in rural areas

"Omnism" is really just indifferentism, which usually just reduces to practical atheism. You can't say that all religions are the same without denying that the answers to these questions matter. It's like trying to design a bridge and just randomly guessing values for the strength of your material.
@@jdotozwell all bridges are the same in the sense that they have the same goal behind it. That's why all bridges are called bridges.
For that same reasy all religions are fundamentally the same, heck everything is fundamentally the same.
@@sonkeschmidt2027 A bridge for heavy traffic made of rolled up newspapers will not achieve its purpose.
ETA: It isn't even true that all religions have the same goals. Take, for example, how to deal with suffering. The goal of Buddhism is to eliminate suffering by eliminating desire. The goal of many forms of paganism is to reduce suffering by appeasing the gods who control the problem areas of your life. The goal of Christianity is to embrace your suffering and unite it with the sacrifice of Jesus, directing it towards your ultimate salvation and divinization/theosis.
@@jdotoz wether or not it achieves the purpose doesn't change that the goal of the same. A paper bridge has the same goal as a concrete bridge, whether or not it achieves this goal.
Equally every religion has the same goal at it's core, even though they may have very different ways through which they attempt to achieve it.
But if we believe that every religion is completely unique then that means one (or none) may be true while all others are inherently false. I prefer to believe that, just like many legends arising from a single event, each religion holds a grain of truth, but no more than that. Think about it for a moment. As a Christian, you would say there are many angels, correct? Now, what if the polytheistic religions just call all angels gods? I'm not sure which angel is the angel of death, but I know there is one. And if he really exists, wouldn't he have had many names throughout history? Anubis, Charon... however many others. The more I think about different religions, I see more correlations than irreconcilable differences, really.

Watch Orthodox Kyle, if your interested in Christianity, Protestants aren’t the way to do so
For Christian other religions are literally used by devil to trick people into thinking they aren’t going to hell and reject Jesus’s sacrifice.

Buddhism is definitely a religion. They have rituals and practices, not to mention there’s like 9 different Hells if I’m not mistaken
What made me question Buddhism is their denialism of a creator God. Their argument is “If God, why impossible to understand” while when asked to describe Nirvana their answer is “Impossible to understand”.
Buddhist believe there is no creater God but they believe abt 5 things which decide our present called 'Niyama dhamma'
1.kamma niyama: ("action") consequences of one's actions
2.utu niyama: ("time, season") seasonal changes and climate, law of non-living matter
3.bīja niyama: ("seed") laws of heredity
4.citta niyama:("mind") will of mind
5.dhamma niyama: ("law") nature's tendency to perfect

Its how the korean monks talk about the teachings of Buddha and how they can help you get rid of desire, and Japanese Buddhism (which goes by the name zen Buddhism) teaches you the same but also has demons, the forth room and Buddha fighting the devil who tries to make him desire stuff.
Not all Buddhists in Japan practice Zen, nor does then exist only in Japan or does originate from Japan. Zen’s origin is in Chinese Chen Buddhism and is a hybrid of Mahayana Buddhism and Daoism.
@@TheddunTOSS I know.
I just quickly saying Jesus said he is the way truth and life, no one comes to the Father but through him.
Just like in my animes
My friend's name is buddha
As a Jew who was raised reform and now considers myself a secular Jew, that "Bruh we barly beleive in god" thing was so funny. When my older brother was preparing for his bar mitzvah, he once told our Rabbi "I'm not sure it makes sense for me to have a bar mitzvah. I'm not even sure if I beleive in god." Our Rabbi responded "That's ok, I'm not sure if I beleive in god, either." Lol
fack dude! it was bitter!
but fun fact jesus still the messiah even by tanakh...
isaiah 9:6-7 and 53:1-12 yu should read it...
about the HITORICAL jesus... he was crucified by political ''threat'' he not harmed to no one nor claimed he was king of judea even pontius pilate roman region ruler ''washed his hands'' cause it was not rightous but the jewish nobility and cleric would uprise if they not execute him! he was hated by nobility and cleric... tried to kill him many times and finally they succeded... he was died by the peoples' malice...
even he first not judged him cause not did nothing crime...
Just goes to show the: "Bruh we barly beleive in god," was spot on
Respectfully, maybe you could answer: Who is the 'superhero' he refers to in the video, who will be the Jewish second coming?
@@Eric-jh5mp Mohamed (SAW) is not the Messiah in Islam. It is still Jesus. Mohamed (SAW) is the last and final prophet.
Extremely well done and very enlightening. I especially love the very end of your video! Christ is King!
This is the greatest religion breakdown I've ever seen. I also enjoyed your bible summary. Well done and God bless.
