Great acting and outstanding music editing. Martyn used the elixir as a means of vampiring others' energy, eventually becoming addicted to being worshipped, whereas the only power he truly possessed came from the magical, feel-good potion. Note that we were never shown how anyone's life actually improved in real world reality. They merely became addicted to 'the potion' that made them feel better.
Interesting and quite true I think. We can become addicted to many things. Even things not physical. Or at least not in the sense of a drug but doing physical things like gambling but a bit different. Chemicals released in the brain when doing something that gives a thrill or some pleasure and so on.
Dr Virgil, the guru/psychotherapist was beautifully played. He was a sage who had no cult following at all-Martyn was his one patient at the time they met. Toward the end Virgil explains “that power is supposedly to be always beyond your reach.” Other words, don’t play God. Was the elixir real? I vote yes. Everyone who took it had profound experiences. At least they came away with a sense of great understanding. Who wants to go back to being an office drudge after seeing eternity? Or the face of God? Martyn’s essentially unevolved pettiness made him reach for the watch in his vision and then in real life. The path of least resistance. I had hoped he could have developed a relationship with Rose. She seemed willing and open and generous spirited. But he was just too self involved to see her. What of Virgil’s self awareness? My guess he’s aware he has some gifts to give but knows he doesn’t know everything. He gave the elixir to someone who couldn’t handle it. Was that a mistake or fate?
This reminds me of a serious addiction and a mental health problem....been there for over a decade and proud to say that I am 3 years sober and going strong ❤..... I pray everyday for those that still struggle with both we can overcome and we can heal with time and love for yourself as well as others❤😢
I've learned that helping others in any way. It's the best way to get out of great difficulty for ourselves.I can't really explain it, but I know it's true
What an awesome film and great message. Some people don't know how good they got it, some will never be happy, so e wanna watch the world burn and some wanna watch the people watching the world burn. Lol our ego, and lack of self awareness will be out undoing. We all have the strength within us, to overcome anything, but you have to have the will, to let yourself do what has to be done, no matter what.
Everyone has the ability to rise above a crisis without the use of any drug. Trouble is most can't find it. The elixir in this film may have been nothing more than colored water. Martyn couldn't find his power within himself. He WANTED to believe. The guy killed him didn't realize what Martyn was trying to show him. That he no longer needed the elixir. That his power was withing him. Perhaps this was what the man called Jesus tried to show humanity. Well done film. Very interesting and thought provoking about how insignificant we often feel and how we can learn about our power when we believe in something.
I see your point, but only if you read comments before watching. Even then, someone might read my comment and be intrigued by it and want to see what I was talking about. I'll try to remember though to type spoiler alert first. I didn't think I was doing that.@@lynnw3957
It seems that way for me as well sometimes. I have to remind myself though it's not what I don't have that makes me unlucky. It's what I do have that makes me lucky. I've failed many more times than I've succeeded. I don't think about those, but about the times I did succeed. The times I failed was the result of my poor decisions. God bless you and help you. I wish happiness for you always.@@kellimoorer9032
Jesus was the Son of man and the Son of God. He appears in The Old Testament before he ever came as the Messiah. Jesus didn’t use trickery or drugs, he performed miracles, which is how we know that He is our Savior. I know that it’s popular to call Jesus a sage, but Jesus is our only hope of salvation. Believe me, I was lead astray. I really was. I taught Yoga and practiced Satsang for a great many years and I’ve never done drugs. It’s rare that someone goes from that set of beliefs and turns her heart over to Jesus. Read the Bible. It’s all there.
I loved this film!! Extremely well done and it really does make one reflect within and ponder what faith can truly do for each one of us. Are you putting your faith in materials of this world? Or in yourself? Or perhaps a higher power? This film has several meanings all from different perceptions depending on how you look at it and the message you yourself received from this film. Very very thought provoking I loved it! Please make more films!! Very talented actors and the people behind creating this Gem!❤
I felt that it was more about the ego. I have sympathy for Martyn because the day-to-day of feeling unimportant is relatable for so many people. But, having a special gift or a gold watch… convincing oneself that we are helping others; all the while, feeding the ego and not the humble soul.
Excellent movie. Spoilers Elixir is the Word of God that has the ability to transform us, and we are mere channels. Once our ego rises and we think that we are the cause transformation, rather than the Word of the Creator, we become victim of our own ego. Hence powerless - note the condition of the world. Martin in the beginning had no confidence and was searching. The spiritual guide introduced him to the Elixir, through which he saw heaven and people praying to the Creator. Martin helped a few people by using the Elixir. His ego gradually took over and he thought that it was he, who was transforming people, he became materialistic and worldly - note purchase of the watch. His gatherings turned into cult, people were worshipping him instead of the Creator. The spiritual guide saw the change in him and stopped giving him the Elixir. Without the Elixir, he had no power. This is an excellent story about humility, arrogance of humanity and its lack of independent thinking..
No, he wanted to be Jesus Our Savior The One True God and at the end it shows Christ in the necklace he’s wearing showing there’s only One Savior all the others “like Martyn” would be considered antiChrist and old man was basically the devil that he made a deal with

This film gives us an important message about our own powers to overcome problems in life without drugs as long as our brain is not damaged.

You should say spoilers in front of your review if you are giving away plot points!!!

“The Dude abides, Man…”
Great acting. Great message. Love it ☀️
Fantastic work, a real 'draw your own conclusions'. The symbolisms, caricatures, etc - excellent work.
Should have been called Donald 😭😂
Nice watch
Outstanding film! 🌟✨ So well-crafted and inspiring! 🎥 How did you design the costumes for the film?
They went to Goodwill.
Not sure if this was the intended message, but it seems to way that faith isn't a magic bullet for the things wrong in your life.

Well said. Absolute "faith" will still let that disease kill you very dead.
Thanks 🙋♀️

Excellent filming and acting. Very disturbing too.

This deserves a lot more views.
Putting a crucifix on and holding a christian service for someone who didn't believe in their fairytale seems disrespectful and selfish.
