    Finally a short SF short movie not only well acted or directed, but also with a true idea, a plausible plot and a well defined conclusion. A little masterwork, a must see.

      Staredsky, this is a very good film, however, the book part makes it not plausible. He did not write the book he copied it. My question would be where did the book come from.

    This ranks as an “A” movie. If all science fiction movies had the tenets of this shorty, there would be so many more great sci-fi movies. Outstandingly well done! Kudos to all that made this movie!

      I’m not a big fan of the time travel and multiple demensional genres. But like the man who is searching for the answer to his return to mortality in this film. My search for a Dust short with a storyline that didn’t leave me hanging with questions at the end has finally been found!

    Why good ?
    because:
    1) until the end you cannot understand the next scene, mystery until last minute
    2) absence of violence, but still a good movie for the average person of this era
    3) well mixing of new and old costumes, like medieval time and modern era
    4) plot of a men that gives his blood for the "humankind pain relief" sounds an old story, but still actual ...
    5) cast high level
    6) sounds high level
    7) camera high level
    it could be nice to see more movies like this in cinema halls ...
    Good job !

    Well, Mr. Penna, I have seen many time travel sequencers. This one is unique for not having the usual over and over jumps to tidy countless events up. Of course, they all have substantial narratives to final conjunctions. Truly remarkable for its passage and meaning behind. A piece of art, bravo...

    This has to be one of the best shorts I have ever seen. You took two hours worth of feature film quality story and did an excellent job of compressing it into 41 minutes. Nothing was lost, from the writing of the story to the acting and filming this was a class A job. Well done to your whole team.

  • @Glydal

    I first saw this years ago and loved it immediately. I rewatch it every so often - skipping or fast forwarding through nothing - because of how good it is. It ranks as one of my all time favorite short films and I could not be happier with how well it was made.
    The story is astounding, compelling to watch and full of suspense, and is absolutely a thrill even though its direction and destination is no longer a mystery to me. The story flows smoothly and answers the questions it sets up neatly. There are story threads that receive no follow up, but that is a product of good storytelling. You care about other characters and are interested in where they go, but you don't need to see the end of their journeys.
    I love things like this that are static and stand-alone. It's a story that you can enjoy and finish without being left wanting. It ends with a greater sense of completion than almost everything else I've ever seen. To me, it is greater than many full-length feature films on the market today. I would have gladly paid to see it a dozen times over.

    This was a beautiful story that left me full in a way most Hollywood films don't. It didn't need explosions, long, running battle-scenes or pointless "romance" thrown in to keep the hormonal guys engaged. Forgive me but SPOILERS AHEAD (well, some little, some larger): The romance was taken care of with the sweet "Highlander" styled clip of the Immortal and the French girl with no fuss, no sloppy cringe-worthy kisses, just a plain, hello-meeting under a tree and her quiet, poignant passing in their home. The quiet note of his continuance of his ancient tradition of the yearly tattoos slowly creeping up his arm, then continuing to his other arm was a nice touch. When he realizes that there really was no villain at all, and that his own very existence was needed as a boon to humanity was gorgeous. The girl gaining that odd ability from her cure for her palsy was a strange twist and makes me wonder if other people will be experiencing similar effects. All in all, a lovely little film.

      I watched it with French subtitles and it's French, but just the literal word for word translation. Some of it doesn't make much sense because the wrong definition of a word was used or the expression wasn't properly translated. It's probably best not to have subtitles than to have them like this. But the film is very well done.

    This was a very long " Short" film but wonderfully put together and had lots of story line changes to keep you enthralled but by the end you get it. So different to anything I have watched before. So glad I got to see this one, Thank You.

    Well, put together as a full-encompassing story without the flaws of a storyline that you would have not imagined... Now that is what makes this story with the actor being the storyteller as truly great!

    A line of monks tattooing each other in a circle until the last who by the order has the most lines, each line represents a type of calendar mark reminds me of the people who paint the Golden Gate Bridge by starting at one end and at the end of a year they are done with the bridge and have to start over in terms of significance I would guess the bridge is the more important.....either pointless of significant you be the judge I guess?

    The most original story I have watched so far on youtube. It was beautiful, action and suspense without violence and profanity. It was just wonderful.

    • @chastetree
      @chastetree 2 роки тому

      Without violence? How about the attack on the young woman in a dark alley? It was possibly just a purse theft, but they made it unnecessarily seem like an attempted rape. Perhaps this is something that Hollywood has made us numb to, but it's still gratuitous violence. Asking the woman to wear those ridiculous stilettos was also superfluous.
      Overall I thought the movie was entertaining although a bit obtuse with respect to psychology and verisimilitude.

    I like how he starts off as a pupil of Benedict of Nursia, at Monte Cassino... where he finds a "mysterious" auto-injector; Then his story extends through the ages. The Byzantine era, feudal France, etc. My earliest judgements of this whole film were that it posed a major question: Would you want to be immortal/mortal..? That decision is a "double-edged blade" Overall, a good story to me.!. :D
    (Btw, I understand the references because I research ALOT of things... mainly history.)

    • @benskelly1217

    • @firstbornjordan
      @firstbornjordan 8 років тому

      +Ben Skelly It depends on meaning, purpose and context of life and/or perception of eternity. Immortality in a fallen world be unfulfilling. Immortality in an unbroken and untainted world, would always be enough.

    • @jaybingham3711
      @jaybingham3711 6 років тому +1

      Immortality would indeed be a curse. Hell, a 300-year lifespan would be enough to be torturous. This is a topic most have never taken the time to investigate properly. Intuitively, it naively and narcissistically strikes us with a sense of "sure! why not!?" But plenty of philosophers and deep-thinkers have thoroughly evaluated such scenarios and, spoiler alert, our instincts are massively wrong. Spend 15 minutes reading about it and you'll know quickly come to grips with just how fucked such a situation would be.

    • @JasonGabler
      @JasonGabler 6 років тому +1

      Something you and "plenty of philosophers and deep-thinkers" have no category from which to make any valid conclusions.I would say "speak for yourself", but in your limited humanity, you cannot.

    • @jaybingham3711
      @jaybingham3711 6 років тому

      Jason Gabler In your limited humanity you have failed to understand that I was speaking for myself. It's got to be hard though making sense of things when carrying around so much narcissism. You'll be free of the burden soon enough.

    This was incredible. Very moving and eye opening. I got the message that Sometimes we have to stop allowing intense feelings of anger dictate our lives because while we are engulfed in that fog - we miss out on all of the bigger picture. Letting such rage create tunnel vision, eats away at the human soul - it is a taker of free will and positive energy until the only thing that remains is a hollowed out heart driven by a passion for revenge. Once we find the strength to put those malicious intentions to the side - we can gain clarity like we never knew & we can learn things that may suprise us. Mental/ emotional/ spiritual Clarity can have the power to open doors we overlooked in anger....the same doors that ultimately allow our broken souls closure & the chance to rectify wrongs.
