I feel as if this one is overly-hated by fans. Mostly down to it being the 25th Anniversary and not Remembrance. I feel that when the S25 boxset rolls around it'll have its extended version restored maybe even with new CGI to give it the much-needed boost it deserves. But then again it was my first McCoy story so maybe I'm biased.
And it's goodbye to David Banks! :( Not only was he a great Cyber Leader, but he also wrote a complete history of the Cybermen that explains their varying appearance over the years (despite stories not being chronological). It's frankly a work of genius.
Here’s my ranking of all classic cybermen stories so far (Apart from Wheel In Space cuz I haven’t seen it) 1. Earthshock 10/10 2. Tomb of the Cybermen 9/10 3. The Moonbase 9/10 4. The Invasion 8/10 5. Attack Of The Cybermen 8/10 6. The Five Doctors 8/10 7. The Tenth Planet 7/10 8. Revenge Of The Cybermen 6/10 9. Silver Nemesis 3/10
For me, it's... 1. Earthshock - 10/10 2. The Tomb of the Cybermen - 9/10 3. The Invasion - 8/10 4. The Five Doctors - 8/10 5. The Tenth Planet - 7/10 6. Attack of the Cybermen - 7/10 7. Silver Nemesis - 7/10 8. The Wheel in Space (based on the novelization I've read) - 5/10 9. Revenge of the Cybermen - 2/10 The Moonbase is excused because I haven't seen it.
They bother me too because they're a pair of cricket batsmen's gloves sprayed silver. If you look carefully the 'fat fingers' aren't even consistently on both hands e.g. 9:40 I believe the top hand is more important to protect when batting because the lower hand wraps around the back of the bat.
It's a shame that as the final Cybermen story of the classic series it was a bit of a downer, Because I still that Silver Nemesis is very underrated and there are some good moments in this, Not as great as Remembrance of the Daleks? Unfortunately Yes but again I still think it's underrated, I've seen a bit worse from a Cybermen story before 'More on that much later' so I think Silver Nemesis gets a Silver medal entitled 'We tried our best at least' in my book.
As the Cybermen leaves the classic series on Television, Next time however we move all that to a stage play from the late 80's to The Ultimate Adventure.
Aaand if you want know the outside location filming that is the main part for episode 2- it is a small Village in West Sussex named Arundel. I love the town and the tower is near its famous castle, called (the tower is called) Hiorne Tower.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm so excited to see you take on some wilderness stories! I wonder what they will be? I for one would love to see Spare Parts, and The Silver Turk. Maybe even Human Resources! (but I know thats a bit of a stretch bc its the series arc finale for the first Lucie Miller season, so its wouldn't exactly be something someone could jump right into)
I'm going for two favourite quotes of the day this time, One from the VHS release and the original broadcast version on DVD.. (From the VHS release) "So, Doctor, a new appearance, otherwise our anticipation of your presence has proved entirely accurate!" (And this one from the original broadcast version) "Is this the human condition of Madness Leader?" "It is!"
When this was released on VHS back in the day, it was released as an extended version with an extra 12 minutes or so of material that was cut from the transmitted version. Unfortunately they didn't include that on the UK DVD release. Apparently Germany got the extended version in a complete 7th Doctor boxset. I still enjoy the story nonetheless as it has one of my favourite Dr / Companion combos and I just think it's a fun story to watch.
I saw Gerard Murphy on stage a few times and he was one of the best actors I've ever clapped eyes on - way better than you'd know from his sadly few screen appearances (this, Waterworld, Father Ted...). In particular, his playing in Volpone at Birmingham Rep (alongside the magnificent Bernard 'Chancellor Goth' Horsfall) was brilliant beyond words.
If Silver Nemesis had made the Cybermen the focus and removed the Neo Nazis and Lady Painfort, then I think this could’ve been one the better Cybermen stories.
"Things are still imperfect..." They really knew how to make 7 feel so scarily beyond everyone else. I don't think until 12 they pulled it off again. But I have great love for this tale despite its flaws. It's a fun romp. Also the dvd and VHS are different in that the VHS version has extra bits in it including a line from the cyber leader 'so doctor, a new sppearence, otherwise our anticipation of your presence has proved entirely...accurate'
I will watch silver nemesis all the way through at some point in the future on dvd because I only need silver nemesis and then I will have all of series 25 on DVD and then I will sit down and watch all of series 25 on dvd not at the same and not on the same day but I will really enjoy series 25 because I really like series 24 of classic Dr who
Right, time to place your bets on what Mr Tardis is doing to fill out Cybercember: Personally, I'm betting on at least some Big Finish stories such as videos on Cyberman Season 1 and 2 (and likely Sword of Orion beforehand as it ties into it), Human Resources and possibly a second review of Spare Parts. I also think that we might see Cyberwoman from Torchwood since its a TV story and can be linked with both Doomsday narratively and the Lone Cyberman as a demonstration of accomplishing concepts.
We're probably getting Spare Parts and maybe The Silver Turk from BF, Cyberwoman is an almost given (I don't know if we'll be doing Ghosts/Doomsday again), perhaps we'll get Blood of the Cybermen again to represent videogames. Perhaps Supremacy of the Cybermen as the official Cyberman 50th anniversary story as a dive into the comics. Cyberman Season 1 and 2 would be good to see reviewed considering I haven't actually heard them.
@@benw4409 Yeah, I'm also sort of interested to learn where stuff like the Cyberman and Dalek Empire fall into the timeline as the former is most likely in the late 25th Century or in the far future as Telos has been destroyed by (I think) an asteroid but the Tombs are still intact which means that it's post Tomb of the Cybermen and yet Humanity aren't at war with them which means it's either before Earthshock or centuries after since in that episode Humans and several other species were preparing to ally with each other to stop the Cybermen. As for Dalek Empire, I have no idea other than it being post The Apocalypse Element (Main Range 16). No idea why I mentioned Dalek Empire other than the fact that both are free on Spotify along with Sword of Orion, Spare Parts and Human Resources.
The Cyberwoman/Lone Cyberman thing I kind of view as failing in different ways in that with the former you have an immediate fail with the concept being butchered from the off (I think it's fair to say that Trek did better with their sexy Borg than Who with it's sexy Cybermen regardless) whereas with the latter you have a concept that starts pretty strong but just gets worse as it goes along culminating in a real lame end. I'm not sure which is worse in terms of overall frustration. Incidentally, that whole thing makes me wary of the statement that "Chibs got the Cybermen right" because not only was that Cybermen an exception to the rule but that didn't even last long. And that's not even getting into the Cyberhead Drones or the Cyber Time Lords.
@@defrostedrobot77 also I think the main reasons why the Lone Cyberman succeeded where Cyberwoman failed is a) because Doctor Who has a lower age rating, b) the designers were less immature when designing the former and c) the latter actually exists.
I saw a making of this episode and the cyberman redesign said the new hands were "better for crushing things" and the darker silver paint looked heavier and more solid.
The Excellent David Banks returns as the Cyber Leader in Big FInish's 'Hour of the Cybermen' with Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. It's definitely a better outing for the Cybermen and the Sixth Doctor than Attack of the Cybermen was. Speaking of Big Finish, will you be reviewing Cyberman audios like Spare Parts, The Harvest and The Silver Turk in Cybercember?
I loved Silver Nemesis at the time, but I was only a kid when it aired. This is a fair review. I recorded it on VHS and my dad recorded over episode one with the News. I was so mad at him. He said “Oh, I didn’t realise you wanted to keep it”. It was Remembrance of the Daleks I really wanted to record, but I didn’t have a video recorder when that aired. I went to see the Ultimate Adventure with Colin Baker when it was on. I remember nothing about it except that he kills a dalek with a CO2 canister claiming “Daleks can’t stand the cold”.
Another great story including the Cybermen, just not enough of them. Great review and synopsis. If I may make a suggestion for a future episode, please, somehow try to cover Star Trek/Dr.Who crossover comic "Assimilation" featuring the Cybermen and Borg alliance. Thank you as always for your EXCELLENT content!
The Cybermen are my favourite villains but the 80's design just really never worked for me. The RTD design didn't work either, as they were too robotic, too "Storm Trooper". For the Classic era, to me the Mondasian design is the best. For Nu Who, I'd say it is the 'Nightmare in Silver' design. Not in terms of what they can do, but in being visually streamlined.
Looking back on it, the Cybermen's track record in the Classic Series is seriously all over the place. You have the classics like "Tomb of the Cybermen" and "Earthshock", but there's a whole lotta duds, at least for me. I'd say even the Daleks have a better record, or at least a slightly more consistent one
For me, Dalek stories generally range from good to exceptional, with the only exceptions being Destiny of the Daleks and the three penned by Steven Moffat. Apart from three or four exceptions that I've seen, the Daleks have a really good track record for enjoyable stories.
I think the reason there are a lot of weak cybermen stories is because most of the writers see them as a potential marketing tool to draw people in. Best example I can think of is the next doctor which literally teased itself dramatically in journeys end’s next time trailer as “the return of the cybermen”, then you watch the story & they basically don’t do anything. Then you have stories like attack of the cybermen & nightmare in silver, both written by people who love the cybermen but tell a really rubbish story.
@@BH-98 I think you're absolutely right. I think in addition tho, many early stories didn't really "get" the Cybermen. It feels like writers thought of them as just robots and nothing more, I mean they didn't even show the conversion process until "Attack of the Cybermen". The new series at least seems to grasp that
The Silver Nemesis designs are the most "Excellent" designs in my opinion. I even own the action figures of the leader and normal one. My other two are the Controller and an Attack of the Cybermen one
They were the first Cyberman toys I bought. I now have a Leader and three subordinates (one is a Leader with painted handlebars), in addition to a similar squadron of Cybus Cybermen, the Pandorica guard, a couple other Classic Cyberman variants, and the smaller scale 2013 Cyberman.
While this was my first cyberman story i ever saw, as i saw it when it first broadcast, and i did love them, i didn't like the cricket glove hands, to chunky. I get the premise that they wanted them to look for intimidating and powerful but the gloves make them look silly. Also then after seeing Earthshock why did they get rid of the fighter pilot suits. They look so much better than the boiler suits they used. Also i seem to remember that the Cybermen where never meant to be originally in this, and JNT wanted them added later down the line for the silver ann. Then the story was also held back due to strikes as well. Took me ages to figure out why the Cybermen wanted the statue or how it would be used. Still i love it though.
Mr TARDIS 20K subscribers I really like the design of the classic 80's Cybermen and also the Cybermen spaceships seen in "Silver Nemesis". What do you think of the Cybermen spaceship designs in "Silver Nemesis"?
David Banks would return as the Cyber Leader again nearly 30 Years later on Big Finish in Hour of the Cybermen, Also Mark Hardy who was the Cyber Lieutenant on Earthshock, The 5 Doctors and Silver Nemesis returns as well.
Also big missed opportunity... that bit in Ascension of the Cybermen where they throw all of the known Cyber weaknesses at the gits to see what sticks Graham should totally have been blasting Jazz at them!
you cut the nemesis coming alive!!! best scene of the the entire episode! rising from its encasement tearing the fabric covering it it suddenly stands upright with flashes and explosions appearing coupled by a long piercing screeeeaaaaam! a stand-out moment of the entire series nearly as prominent as the Doctor's first confrontation with Davros or Weng-Chiang's giant rat attack.
Best of the three worst cybermen stories but still a fun one, I love it... imagine if the writer of this story & the writer of 'Remembrance' had teamed up and combined both stories into a Cybermen vs Daleks Story, I'm sure if anyone could have convinced Terry Nation to let them do this for the 25th anniversary it might have been Jhon-Nathan Turner, I think?
"I've got a special idea! You know the Dalek story we did last month? Let's do the exact same thing with the Cybermen! Only, we'll go back four hundred years and bring them to the present!"
Watched it tonight, It is a Fun, Non Stop Action Packed, Enjoyable, good, Episode with some Superb Performances, some Laugh out Loud moments ("Social Workers!") the Brilliant Chemistry between the Doctor and Ace, and a fantastic Redesign (the best looking IMO!) for the Cyber-Neomorphs, that, sadly, as well as being more than a little *unhinged* due to the Writer not being Familiar with Doctor Who and being rather too Ambitious with the Sub-Plots, it also Suffers from being in the Same Season as the *Masterpiece* (and *Actual* 25th Anniversary Episode) that is Remembrance of the Daleks, leaving it *very* underappreciated as, well, its still a lot of Fun! It also gave us the Lore that the Doctor is the White Guardian from the "Keys to Time" .
The Sylvester McCoy Era of Doctor Who had a fetish for stories that features Nazis and Fascists. Remembrance of the Daleks, Silver Nemesis, Illegal Alien, Colditz, Exodus, Just War, Survival of the Fittest, etc.
I love McCoy, I love the Cybermen. And I'm a defender of some of both of their most maligned storylines. Not Silver Nemesis though. It's honestly embarrassing, even more so because of the quality of the stories surrounding it. It's literally Remembrance but we had that two stories previously and it's not nearly as good as it lacks the subtext, characterisation or strong production. The Nazis and the sorcerer character just add nothing, the Cybermen have no presence and even the legendary McCoy/Aldred combo can't save it. Fortunately we wouldn't have a Cyberman story quite this bad for a while.
In terms of Cyberman stories that could reach this level I probably wouldn't have Nightmare in Silver or Dark Water/Death in Heaven on this tier since there's at least a couple more bits of interest. Maybe Next Doctor. The Timeless Children is a definite contender tho.
Legendary? McCoy and Aldred? God only slightly more watchable than McCoy and Bonnie bastard Langford. He is what put Dr.Who into the cupboard for years so much so that they really didn't want him involved with the TV movie when it was made. And guess what? He ruins every bloody scene he is in in that and is probably the reason why the proposed series was shelved because people switched off in their droves before Paul Mcgann's excellent Doctor got going.
Would you be covering Torchwood’s Cyberwoman episode to fill the month? While it isn’t a Cyberman focused episode and not an episode of Doctor Who, it still has some tie in to the Cybermen to some degree. It’s an option.
Silver Nemesis was a mystery to me for most of my childhood. I knew there was a Seventh Doctor Cyberman story, I'd seen promo pics and heard about it, but I had never seen it. When I first watched it, I was a little bit disappointed, but I couldn't think of any scenes I particularly disliked. I think you nailed it on the head. Silver Nemesis is a fun watch with enjoyable characters and excellent performances, but very unfocused and disjointed. It's far removed from being the worst Doctor Who story or even the worst Cyberman story, but much like the majority of Series 12, it really needed to trim the fat to become a great story.
What you say about a 15 minute prologue... Do you think then that this may have worked better as a 4-parter with more time to flesh everything out? I do feel you're right and that it's very rushed, especially the double bluff with De Flores and his second in command that comes and goes almost entirely off screen
It's spoilt by the profound silliness of having the Cybermen explode on contact with gold. The series consistently established gold as a weakness (in that it plated their breathing aparratus and in essence suffocated them). That's why the humans invented the Glitter Gun and why Voga, the planet of gold, was pivotal in the war that ended up with the Cybermen defeated. In Earthshock the Doctor attacks the Cyberleader with Adric's gold badge, by grinding it into his chest unit BUT It doesn;t kill him, only partyl disables him so they get his gun - and it takes several shots to destroy him. In this story you have Cyberment in one scene shown to be totally impervious to machinegun fire, but in the next, their armour is penetrated by a gold tipped arrow and they explode; you know, gold, known for being soft and unreactive! And even more silly is Ace destroying them with gold coins and a catapult. In Revenge of the Cybermen they are shown walking aorund without harm on a planet made of gold, and unaffected by gunfire (presumbly, the bullets also made of gold!). It males the Cybermen look stupidly weak.
I kinda thought while watching this story first time that Lady Peinfort was from an earlier story since they make it like we should be familiar with her
Dr. Who is pretty cool. The last time I watched any was when I was a little kid, so I kind of wanna get back into it. Also, this is unrelated, but may I ask what happened to your review of the Amazing Spider-Man? I HATED that movie, and you did a great job of tearing into it. I've been wanting to re-watch your review if that's okay.
There’s an irony in the 25th anniversary story likely being the least talked about story of the show’s 25th series. Remembrance’s popularity is obvious, but you do hear more conversation about The Happiness Patrol and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy than Silver Nemesis. Maybe that’s just in my experience though.
I don’t think you should have said that Lady Peinforte was ‘sucked into the nemesis for no apparent reason’ when it is patently clear that she runs and throws herself onto the statue as she can’t bear to be parted from it. Also you omitted the best scene in the story when Peinforte and Richard are given a lift by the American woman. The dialogue is sparkling. ‘Tis wise to inspect your crops at this time of year’ from Richard is a classic.
“And the first thing I said is, he’s God!” “Is this the human definition of madness, Leader?” But seriously was this guy high when he made that interview?
Thank you for your work in reviewing these stories... of every story in the classic Dr Who era, this is, for me, the worst. I cannot get over travel time using a potion! (blech!). The Doctor being cryptic for no reason is something I found very irritating, especially in the Sylvester McCoy era.
Fiona Walker played Kara in the Hartnell story the Keys of Marinus and is quite good in one of his less than perfect stories although it does have its moments. I was really disappointed when I eventually got to see it again as for years before the VHS tapes began releasing the old tales, it was only available as a Target novelisation written really well by Philip Hinchcliffe who did a great job considering he hadn't worked on the show during Hartnell's era.

Unashamed to say I love this story
I feel as if this one is overly-hated by fans. Mostly down to it being the 25th Anniversary and not Remembrance. I feel that when the S25 boxset rolls around it'll have its extended version restored maybe even with new CGI to give it the much-needed boost it deserves. But then again it was my first McCoy story so maybe I'm biased.
And it's goodbye to David Banks! :( Not only was he a great Cyber Leader, but he also wrote a complete history of the Cybermen that explains their varying appearance over the years (despite stories not being chronological). It's frankly a work of genius.
Here’s my ranking of all classic cybermen stories so far (Apart from Wheel In Space cuz I haven’t seen it)
1. Earthshock 10/10
2. Tomb of the Cybermen 9/10
3. The Moonbase 9/10
4. The Invasion 8/10
5. Attack Of The Cybermen 8/10
6. The Five Doctors 8/10
7. The Tenth Planet 7/10
8. Revenge Of The Cybermen 6/10
9. Silver Nemesis 3/10
For me, it's...
1. Earthshock - 10/10
2. The Tomb of the Cybermen - 9/10
3. The Invasion - 8/10
4. The Five Doctors - 8/10
5. The Tenth Planet - 7/10
6. Attack of the Cybermen - 7/10
7. Silver Nemesis - 7/10
8. The Wheel in Space (based on the novelization I've read) - 5/10
9. Revenge of the Cybermen - 2/10
The Moonbase is excused because I haven't seen it.
THE GLOVES BOTHER ME TOO 😂😂😂
They bother me too because they're a pair of cricket batsmen's gloves sprayed silver. If you look carefully the 'fat fingers' aren't even consistently on both hands e.g. 9:40 I believe the top hand is more important to protect when batting because the lower hand wraps around the back of the bat.
Me too.
Same. I'm glad you pointed that out because they were driving me mad when I first noticed them.
This is one of those stories where it does have its flaws but it is still really entertaining to watch.
Leela could’ve ended the CyberProblem herself, had she gotten the chance and a gold knife.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm so excited to see you take on some wilderness stories! I wonder what they will be? I for one would love to see Spare Parts, and The Silver Turk. Maybe even Human Resources! (but I know thats a bit of a stretch bc its the series arc finale for the first Lucie Miller season, so its wouldn't exactly be something someone could jump right into)
The fingers have always angered me to lol
It made me want to call in The Death Sqaud Daleks.
I'm going for two favourite quotes of the day this time, One from the VHS release and the original broadcast version on DVD..
(From the VHS release) "So, Doctor, a new appearance, otherwise our anticipation of your presence has proved entirely accurate!"
(And this one from the original broadcast version) "Is this the human condition of Madness Leader?" "It is!"
Oh I can't wait to see some Wilderness stories!
I will watch silver nemesis all the way through at some point in the future on dvd because I only need silver nemesis and then I will have all of series 25 on DVD and then I will sit down and watch all of series 25 on dvd not at the same and not on the same day but I will really enjoy series 25 because I really like series 24 of classic Dr who
I'll rewatch this story just to get to that ending climax, that's some nice action right there! 😎👍
Right, time to place your bets on what Mr Tardis is doing to fill out Cybercember:
Personally, I'm betting on at least some Big Finish stories such as videos on Cyberman Season 1 and 2 (and likely Sword of Orion beforehand as it ties into it), Human Resources and possibly a second review of Spare Parts.
@@Jedi_Spartan I don't get the last point. I mean none of this exists technically right?
I saw a making of this episode and the cyberman redesign said the new hands were "better for crushing things" and the darker silver paint looked heavier and more solid.
7:06 Silvester McCoy is 5'6" so I think he is who lady Peinforte is thinking of when she mentions that the Doctor is a "little man"
Another Brilliant Vid!! Keep up the awesome work!
Would you like to go down memory lane and buy my original poster for the stage play? It's still in good condition.
We are the borg you’ll be assimilated and service us and your technology assets and culture will be added to the borg collective, resistance is futile.
At least their design isn’t as bad as the 2013 Cybermen design. You know the ones that look like robots and iron man.
I love the title. Silver Nemesis. Silver Anniversary?
@@DalekTheSupreme exactly. Maybe there's just more of a want to make a quality story when it comes to Daleks? Who knows
Those are the next Big Finish stories I buy.
Mark Hardy was in the Bill for ages
Also big missed opportunity... that bit in Ascension of the Cybermen where they throw all of the known Cyber weaknesses at the gits to see what sticks Graham should totally have been blasting Jazz at them!
Murphy was brilliant in this, such a different role to his typecasting as villains.
The cybermen are clearly wearing cricket gloves.
You know the cyber men in this story are wearing cricket gloves?
That’s the only reason their hands are like that.
The Cybermen in this story have sausage fingers look at there fingers and you’ll see what I mean
Leslie French who played Lady Peinforte's mathematician in SN auditioned for the role of the first doctor
you cut the nemesis coming alive!!! best scene of the the entire episode! rising from its encasement tearing the fabric covering it it suddenly stands upright with flashes and explosions appearing coupled by a long piercing screeeeaaaaam! a stand-out moment of the entire series nearly as prominent as the Doctor's first confrontation with Davros or Weng-Chiang's giant rat attack.
God the very thought
"I've got a special idea! You know the Dalek story we did last month? Let's do the exact same thing with the Cybermen! Only, we'll go back four hundred years and bring them to the present!"
This was a part of the Cartnell Master Plan, For that Infamous moment.
Those gloves! The Cybermen play Cricket!
I remember watching this live in the day...... And was gripped by it as a youngster. I totally forgot it was a 3 parter I always thought it was 4 🤣🤣🤣
I love McCoy, I love the Cybermen.
What, no mention of this being the first appearance of the fez?
Säkkijärven polkka starts playing.
The Cybermen: This is meaningless!
Will you be doing hour of the cybermen, cybermen series, the harvest, cyberon and other things?
Would you be covering Torchwood’s Cyberwoman episode to fill the month? While it isn’t a Cyberman focused episode and not an episode of Doctor Who, it still has some tie in to the Cybermen to some degree. It’s an option.
"What if Cyberman sexy?"
Spare Parts? You gonna talk about Spare Parts??
No, he's going to be talking about a Stageplay from 1989 called Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure
@@maldon3659 which I've still got an original promotional poster for if anyone fancies buying it?
Wondering if you’ve seen the extended version of this story?
This story reminds me of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly but late 80s Doctor Who.
I think the Cybermen look awesome inside as well
6:37 - Or what about the pre-title sequence at the beginning of Remembrance of the Daleks?
What you say about a 15 minute prologue... Do you think then that this may have worked better as a 4-parter with more time to flesh everything out? I do feel you're right and that it's very rushed, especially the double bluff with De Flores and his second in command that comes and goes almost entirely off screen
Will mr tardis be doing blood of the cybermen/the eternity clock? could fill the gaps
I kinda thought while watching this story first time that Lady Peinfort was from an earlier story since they make it like we should be familiar with her
One of the many hints to the Timeless child
Not really, this hasn't been a plan 30 years in the making 🤣
Overall it's complete nonsense but it just fun so much fun. That's thing with the McCoy years even when the story is bad it's still entertaining.
Delta And The Bannermen, Dragonfire.
The main issue of this serial is its billed as the actual anniversary and not Rememberance of the Daleks. It's Revenge of the Cybermen syndrome here
I have a soft spot for this story as its wonderfully cheesy and the soundtrack is bangin'.
I know you wouldn't fill the entire month, but a little help with spare parts or another media cyberstories can add so much
Next year you should do a Master-cember
16:26
Ace you clever girl!
"I'm old enough to be your messiah"
I don’t think you should have said that Lady Peinforte was ‘sucked into the nemesis for no apparent reason’ when it is patently clear that she runs and throws herself onto the statue as she can’t bear to be parted from it.
Also you omitted the best scene in the story when Peinforte and Richard are given a lift by the American woman. The dialogue is sparkling. ‘Tis wise to inspect your crops at this time of year’ from Richard is a classic.
The Doctor is.....God. Face Palm,
“And the first thing I said is, he’s God!”
“Is this the human definition of madness, Leader?”
But seriously was this guy high when he made that interview?
They were wearing cricket gloves, was a bizarre choice
When I thought of this story the first thing that came into my mind was the gloves the cybermen had on. cricket gloves look silly
Thank you for your work in reviewing these stories... of every story in the classic Dr Who era, this is, for me, the worst. I cannot get over travel time using a potion! (blech!). The Doctor being cryptic for no reason is something I found very irritating, especially in the Sylvester McCoy era.
It's weird seeing where the nemesis lands is now the 02 arena
Fun Fact: Penelope Wilton, who played Harriet Jones, was considered for Lady Peinforte.
I know who she is...
The Cybermen are wearing cricket batsmen gloves painted silver
Ace I wanted to be and I loved 7 doctor and I cried when survival was the last story
Omg WILDERNES? Crosses fingers for "Spare parts"
That German Actor - "I'm not a Nazi! I just play one on TV!"
