Stepping out of your comfort zone ? You sounded like you were right in it to me Dave - pushing the boundaries in touch, feel and musical content as always ! Brilliant playing and a great sounding guitar - they should use that headstock design on all of their models !
I have an all black Hohner Revelation RTX with ATX pickups, and I always wondered why this sound marvel didn't get more attention. Very very cool, that it is back! ❤

I would have avoided that guitar too if I saw it hanging up in a shop, BUT you’ve shown it’s got some pretty original tones ( like the others you’ve demonstrated) & I’m definitely getting at least one of their guitars. So thanks for enlightening us , I can’t think of anyone better to spread the word.

I've got one of the original Hohner versions of this guitar, but cant get my hands on it at the moment. The originals cost about £1000 back in 1991 with all top name hardware, Entwistle White laminated pickups, Spertzel Locking tuners, Roller Nut ( which were a rarity then), etc etc. I think just the tremolos were £100 back then. They were all supposedly hand made in Czechoslovakia as it was back then which explained the price when Hohner was trying to get into the high end guitar market. They even did a 27 fret version with a set neck. That's when Alan Entwistle was a designer for Hohner along with his mate Trev Wilkinson from Wilkinson Pickups & hardware. 2 old buddies that moved on to start 2 different British pickup manufacturing companies.
I just found out that there was another British pickup maker involved in Hohner guitar research UK who made the originals with Alan Entwistle too who's name was David White hence Entwistle White pickups and his pickups are classed as some of her best ever made and there's currently a set for a tele on ebay for 645 quid. So that was 3 of what can be classes as some of the best non major brand name pickups all working for Hohner guitars in Wales in the late 1980s and early 90s.

I had an original Hohner Revelation RTX (designed by Entwistle) in the 80's as my main guitar for about a decade. An early one with the 4/2 tuners that Musicman put the kibosh on. I loved it but the original pickups were a bit iffy. Just remember Dave, the guitar chooses you.

Dave the Entwistle nemesis humbuckers use a mix of alnico and ceramic magnets which gives them a unique sound. I have a Tanglewood tsb94 which has two afg nemesis pickups it is my favourite guitar.

Dave, is there a possibility you sir could get your hands on a Vintage Thomas Blug signature strat? I really love your reviews and how you picture things about guitars and, I myself am about to get a new axe, and I should choose between the PGM Lemon Drop or the Vintage Signature Strat. They're both great sounding guitars and also different soundwise, but I've always been a strat guy. Cheers from brazil, hope you're doing well.

I have the Revelation X-III, the last Hohner's reissue of that model, with lipstick pickups. It's hella weird.
