- This guitar is so much more than just a guitar. Its literally one of the most important instruments I will ever own. Bar none.
Its up there with Mr White, The 62 & The Red Oswald.
I really believe Charlie got this guitar into my hands and I thank him for that and everything else.
I miss him horribly everyday. Theres not many people ho can say they are friend with one of their heroes.
Thank you Charlie and I hope I did you guitar and you proud in this video.

A beautiful tribute to a friend, by a truly beautiful soul.
This video struck a nerve with me as I inherited a tele from a friend who passed as well and I know the feeling my friend
Those pictures of y’all playing together are wonderful.
Absolutely 💯
Sounds like heaven ❤️. Dave, stay with us, keep walking, keep playing.. Better times ahead, be sure of that, you are awesome 👍
Very beautiful , soulful playing. I remember when your friend passed several years ago, having that guitar is like having a piece of him...I'm sure he would of wanted you to have it, and have it played.
The way you played Dave, was almost like a musical memory you have of your dear friend. Awesome.
Wasnt expecting that reggae groove to kick in. You done It justice! Please do somemore this style currently dancing in my kitchen ❤️ charlie would be proud brother
As always Dave much love from the USA sorry to hear that you had lost a friend I know that's hard my second son was killed in a car wreck when he was only 16 he's been gone longer than he was here but personally I'm at peace about it God doesn't make mistakes.Dave I really hope things get better for you life is so tough sometimes but we never know what is around the corner glad you are here this week and I look forward to seeing and hearing you next week.Thank you for the inspiration you give you are so valuable to the guitar world I keep waiting to hear that you and your band have hit the big time I don't know what is happening there but again all the best mate Love from North Carolina in the United States awesome guitar playing WOW !
Lovely tribute Dave - Charlie will know that guitar is in good hands - take care & look after yourself 🙏☮️💟
You are a very gifted player Dave. Your music moves me, and I thank you for sharing it. ❤
I’m gonna check him out on the UA-cam videos. Sounds like Charlie was a heck of a player. also great sounding guitar and playing.✌️
That was a wonderful tribute. It’s so great that you have that guitar 🎸 and can remember your friend whenever you want. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎶❤️🩹
I have never owned or even played a Telecaster in my life time but now listening to Dave play this one ☝️ I’m thinking about adding one to my guitar collection! Thanks Dave really enjoyed your video brother much love!! 😎🎸🤘🙏❤️
You did not have much words in the beginning, but man this music says more than words ever could. You can hear the grief and loving memories in every single note. Beautiful, intense, heart breaking, bringing tears to my eyes
What a thoroughly nice video Dave, lovely tribute to your friend Charlie and his guitar.
That’s a guitar every guitarist should have , because when ppl say “ can I play your guitar “ they’re going to be dumbfounded with all the switches & knobs 😂
What a great guitar setup with all them pickups , and
tones are just incredible Dave.
Sweet tele Dave, awesome tribute to Charlie,R.I.P,Cheers!
What a wonderful tribute to your friend. The playing at the beginning reminded me of a Celtic style lament
Awesome playing as always, and a beautiful tribute to a dear friend .
Charlie's lament. I can feel your heartache in the notes you played from your soul. I have never heard of your friend Charlie, but i know of him now theough your heartfelt words and soulful music that you played on that fantastic guitar. Rest well Charlie, take comfort knowing that you knew him Dave. Ian.
When I saw "Charlies' Telecaster", I wondered if it might be referring to Charlie Starr of US country rock group Blackberry Smoke. He sure plays some great licks [IMHO]. In 1976 I had a black tele with a maple neck. Great guitar, simple, robust and can do anything [IMHO] Kindest regards, Christopher. [current guitars = Hank Marvin spec Strat, and a Ventures spec Jazzmaster]. + a Boss amp and many pedals! (I am nearly 78 and only play indoors!)
I always do a blend mod for all of my strats. There’s just something really cool about having all three pickups on. Cool guitar Dave, thanks for sharing.
Oh man, this moved me to tears. That tone and the playing was absolutely beautiful
It's a treasure and every time you play it Charlie will live again through the music you make. ❤
Beautiful sounds from a uniquely special guitar. Only you can do Charlie and the guitar justice Dave so yes it has found it's right place. Some things are just meant to be.
I had some tears for you. All I thought through the playing was how much you missed your friend, and the pic at close said it all. Dave, you are a special person and let no one tell you otherwise. You did him proud. 😢
That was beautiful Dave! Loved the Reggae part. Could definitely feel the emotions that guitar brings you, so I understand why it took you awhile to do it. I lost my best friend in a motorcycle accident so I can definitely relate. Keep the guitar with all his MOJO as long as you can. Cheers mate
Charlie's tele could not be in better hands than yours Dave. Two souls intertwined.
Good memories played ♥ Peace and love from Iceland from another guitar brother .
That thing has so much mojo.
Charlie would be happy that it's gone to you.
Played with emotion. That's what music is. Lost good friends as well... they are not forgotten and I remember the good times and what I liked and loved about them.
Great guitar. It's a keeper! 😉
Fantastic music Dave, played from the heart!
Dave, awesome video, awesome guitar, and you had an awesome friend. My first guitar I traded for from my friend who played bass, and he has passed to the great beyond. The guitar came with a SwitchCraft jack, and if you lean on the plug of the cord, it will cut out. I plan on leaving the guitar that way until it absolutely no longer works. It is my favorite guitar, along with my Strat. It is a 1986 G&L ASAT, an early model, with the Jumbo MFD pickups. It has a sound all it's own, great for the type of music I play, and a very versatile guitar. It also has Medium Jumbo frets that are starting to show wear, and I am keeping those wear marks also, until it won't hit any notes and the action can't be adjusted anymore. Great video Dave, I am happy for you that you scored your guitar, especially since in was your friends guitar. Way to go Dave! Great playing also, btw!
I always find your playing calming and relaxing. It has a lot of soul in it. This time more than usual. Charlie was playing through you and I can hear it.
Big up Dave ❤I lost a lotta friends too!! 🇬🇧 🌎 stay strong brother! ⚖️ 🎸
"Can you see the light! Can you see the light!" "Yes i see the Light!"..blues brothers xxx
Find youre nearest Gospel choir, i highly recommend it ,...🙂cheers xx
The solo in the end was very touching, wonderful ❤
Love your videos Dave, thanks for always keeping it real. Hope you're keeping well, having a blast jamming along 🎸
I had a really bad day yesterday. Your playing really moved me. Hope you're well man
Dave, this is some of the most wonderful playing I’ve ever heard, it has a flavour of all emotion.
Absolutely perfect tele. Mini humbucker in the front with that bridge is amazing of a match. Then that middle pickup is the perfect balance. It sounds amazing
What a lovely tribute to a dear friend!
Lovely. Nice one Dave
Its honestly crazy to think how nice and positive your community here on youtube is. I believe that has to be a reflection of yourself Dave ❤
Nice one Dave, you did Charlie proud.....
THAT WAS AMAZING DAVE!!! IM SURE YOUR DEAR FRIEND WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT PIECE!!!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend Dave also lovely tribute ❤😢
I too have my best friends 83 Telecaster....got it the hardest way possible.
RIP Terry Kenneley
Sorry for your loss Dave.Yeah most of us are lucky to even get a chance to have a conversation with our hero's so what a blessing you had! And now the blessing continues every time you pick up that guitar!
Nice tribute Dave- you really are a nice bloke 👍👍
The Choob of The People. Beautiful and soulful AF again.
18:49 is *chefs kiss*
Guitar repair people have a real attitude about planing a neck for a refret. Despite the talking points they use in defense, I'm convinced they think planing just makes the process easier and faster. Like you, I completely objected to the idea, so I learned to refret necks myself.
The tools aint cheap, but neither are guitar tech prices, and once I had the tools I could do more than one guitar. One tip you probably won't hear anywhere else -- get a digital caliper and measure the thickness of the fret tangs after you pull a couple. Things will go much easier if we make the tangs on the new frets match the old. StewMac sells a thing called a fret barber that can do that. I bought my tools like 20 years ago and today the prices are ridiculous. But I can tell you I am glad I learned how to do it.
I’ll second that too… 👍👏
Planing? Or sanding?
@@travisjordan1528 The guys I talked to described taking off enough wood to remove any divots in the fretboard caused by fingernails. Which in my case have been kinda deep on occasion. Based on my experience, not planing means working the metal of the frets to get everything level. I suspect that's what the techs want to avoid, by making sure the wood's really level. Being an amateur at refretting, I'm sure I'd have to work to level the metal of the frets regardless of what else is done.
@@flatbrokeoutside6921 ah yeah I see, I agree with you.
Music played from your very soul, absolutely beautiful
A master at work. Im sure Charlie was smiling down on that tribute.
I’m gonna check him out on the UA-cam videos. Sounds like Charlie was a heck of a player.
I often think you should open those blinds a little Dave.
Having a dear friends guitar is always a special deal it's in good hands. I have my grandfather's guitar, and it will be with me till I go to the pearly gates... play it, we'll brother play it like it speaks to you. That's the biggest honor to the Man that was a great friend to you..🙏🏻
👏👏👏
Welcome back my friend! I have to say I watched an older video of you reviewing the Joyo Jackman, and that intro was some of the best sounds I've heard! I think you may be one of my guitar heroes! I might be twice your age, but I aspire to play as good as you do! My ears always love a new or old Dave vid! Take care bud!
Loved the ending man! You’re gifted my bro.
o man this is super to see this guitar means so much to you and it should that's what makes you the man you are. Dave have i seen you demo a Saxon l p copy some were or may be i am going crazy
What a lovely tribute to your dear friend Dave! I wondered if you could do a video on how many guitars are actually in your extensive collection and the reasons why some of them are keepers and played regularly? Keep up the great work my friend and take care! 👍
I get the light thing Dave: Charlie was watching, proudly.
Take it easy on yourself: it's okay to break down every now and then. Just don't forget to get up again after. Much love.
Well said 😊👏
Absolutely 💯
It looks great. Modded guitars can be priceless
Dude, stunning playing, absolutely stunning
You should def do more reggae inspired music Dave, so much passion. Big hugs m8. (Reggae bassist)
So much pain in this playing... I'm not crying I just have something in both my eyes.
Likewise 😂
And so much joy…. I swear it’s the frying onions with me! 😂
Great to see you back playing the most soulful music as if all the guitar gods like Hendrix, Gallagher, Healey and Moore are watching over you. Just remember that everyone at some point in their life go for that lonely drive, it’s a soul searching drive you can’t achieve with others along for the drive. Live always (May take a few weeks or months) gets better after a soul searching drive 👍
I did that lonely drive… and found myself in France. Quite bizarre! 🤨
Thanks Dave stay safe.
Wonderful story & sounding guitar & emotional tunes ❣️i‘m a Tele guy for more than 5o years but that’s another story - think i‘ll rewire my Tele Nashville like that with a 2x5 toggle switch ❤️
it's cool that a relatively cheap instrument like this can become so priceless.
a touch of a true heart just amazing Dave , thank you ...
Beautiful, Dave!!
You can tell it's a guitar that wants to be played, and as bits inevitably break, put those aside, get new bits and keep that music coming :)
Beautiful playing, ❤
A fitting tribute!👍
Had an American Series Tele from 2002 sold it bought Charvel GG which is out of this world but the Tele was my fav all time guitar between fenders, gibsons, washburns, squiers, Wilkinsons and many more
Amen ❤🙏💯👏👏🎸
I really don't know what you are doing on UA-cam.... It's crazy it really is, I'm nearly 62 years old so I'm quite experienced in life and I don't understand how you are not more famous than Eric Clapton, your guitar playing is far more superior than a lot more people that have made a living playing guitar, truly it's mad. You just haven't had the right break. I'm not flattering you it's just the truth mate, if I could play like you I'd be living in a mansion in the sun somewhere. 👍
I genuinely believe Dave is one of our generations greatest players. I’m not a fan of Clapton, but for me he stands alongside Moore, Gallagher ( Rory not Noel 😂 ) etc. an incredible talent
That guitar is definitely where it should be. That’s what it’s all about.
That's a really nice guitar. Versatile, cool and it obviously has a great value to you. Hugs from Sweden.
This sounds like something off a movie soundtrack to me. If i heard this in a movie like interstellar i reckon it would fit right in. Nice playing bro
EDIT: wait now i remember what it reminds me of. Go into the end off frusciantes shadows collide with people album
always lovely to see you Dave x
You’ve been a hero to me and also a friend even though I most likely will never meet you 😊
Very nice 🤘
It looks cool with the wear pattern it has. it's natural age is stunning
Sweet indeed
Hi Dave, looking back at your last video and another video of yours today. a Boss katana one you made 5 years ago.... Lose the beard mate you look far better and healthier without it (if you know what I mean without triggering YT censorship), I always feel better after I've shaved my face amoung other things ;)
Keep the memories alive.
Love you Dave!
Very cool axe.
When that beautiful oedal kicked in , definitely reminded me of everyone come and gone, what pedal is that again? Beautiful playing mate.
I worry and get freaked out over who my guitars will end up with. They are so personal and like a part of me and I don't want them falling into the wrong hands.
It's good to see Charlie's guitar in your very appreciative and well-intentioned hands. I know it will always remind you of him.
lovely vid
just checked em out - 'one more shot' fab stuff
Exquisite playing, Dave!
You did Charlie proud.
Beautiful as ever Dave - what was on your pedalboard?
Good evening 👌
great concert as always my brother!
i know brother charlie really digs your playin and grabs a front row seat every time!

That was very emotional playing, you play better than David Gilmour
😢
As always you pour your heart and soul into your playing
We are lucky to be able to share the experience thanks Dave
