This is right there with the BMW Z8 for me in terms of design.
By far the killer app on the AMG-GTR Roadster is the handling. One of only 2 convertibles crafted with rear wheel steering [the other being the 911 Turbo], it's perfect weight distribution and virtuoso steering elevate this road weaponry into the super car stratosphere.

This thing is absolutely stunning. If I was spending this kind of money I don't think I could bring myself to buy anything other than a 911 though.
My first impression with that car when I drove it is the transmission and the paddle shifters, shifts lightning quick and the paddle shifters respond at the exact same time you hit them like a video game almost, that reminds me of other 3 cars, Acura NSX and Audi R8/Lamborghini huracán

Test drove a new 2020 911 4S, got back into my 2018 SL63 and drove away.. I felt the 911 was more sporty in corners, but there is nothing like the torque and feel of my SL.. It felt like more car... probably because it weighs a lot more, but the V8 and power didnt leave me wanting the 911....... This GTR is lighter and more sporty than my SL.. But im just too big of a guy to fit in one.
Plus the SL63 is lightyears easier to live with crossing continents. Two very different roadsters with differing missions.

The brutal AMG convertibles are simply the best in the market. Especially these two cars of different characters: AMG GTR Roadster and S63 Cabriolet.
First thing I'd do is get that spoiler removed. Otherwise, such a gorgeous car!!
Amazing machine and love the sound
The GTR is the same width as the GTC you drove. The hood can go up or down at speeds up to 31 mph. Not just stationary.

Great review as usual... on the sponsored Vincero watches, one small comment: for the money these cost, either Citizen Eco Drive models or even Tissot swiss made watches can be found around that pricing... so why is Vincero so expensive, simply makes no sense...
Magno paint loves non touch carwashes. I put my E 43 through the carwash all the time. The paint is virtually indestructible. What you must never do is wax it with normal wax, any abrasive wax product will damage the the matte appearence. Taking care of it is a snap. Put it through the car wash, (touchless or non brush) and then spray on a decent spray and wipe ceramic finish like meguiars ultimate fast finish. Total time 15 min tops. Magna paint is extraordinarily tough. After 3 winters the only paint chips I have were from actual rock hits. Its the only cars that I have had that has not suffered from road rash in the fist year of driving on Wisconsin roads all year.

Which looks better the Mercedes AMG GTR or the LEXUS LC500 convertible?
GTR hands down really.
They're both gorgeous, though I do prefer the AMG GTR.
Ones a bit more expensive than the other and most likely less reliable and also has back seats. Different classes at that point, I like them both for different reasons.

I've been watching you for years and will continue to do so. I don't like to comment negatively but with such an awesome machine seams like you would get it togther with your interior shots. The camera is blurred to close and looks like you shot it with a 90's flip cell phone..

I think AMG GTR broke the sport auto supertest record (not manufacture ones) back in 2017(7:10). The 918 time was faster but maybe they didn't count it because the OEM team also took part in that test. Now AMG GT Black series has broken the record again on wet track which is mind blowing.

That lumbar issue is the same issue I have with Tesla Model 3 and y's. The lumbar is so puffy and there's nothing I can do to get it down to a normal level. Did you feel that way with your Tesla

If I had the financial means to afford this I would surely buy one👍🏾🤓, perhaps even if this spec! or any spec!. Definitely a dream car in my book!.
I don't think I'd buy the GT-R over a Turbo S because I'd want AWD so I can drive it year round. That said, the GT-R is a damn close runner-up. I love the matte blue paint, looks amazing.
Never had a problem driving anything year round here in SW Florida. No rust ever is a bonus too
Just get winter tires and you can drive any car year round.
Stiff competition at this price point. You can't forget about the 570s. A 911 Turbo is a lot faster than this car but doesn't look as good as a convertible and overall is it as stimulating as an R8/570S/GT-R?

The trims are kind of weird. It goes GT > GT S > GT C > GT R
You would think the GT S would be better than the C but the S is actually the track edition of the base GT not a trim itself so it's actually below the GT C. Also why would they make a roadster of their most track focused car!

Gtr is not wider than the Gtc they have the exact same proportions. The Gt and Gt s are narrower.

I LOVE this spec. My GTS has the same brilliant blue (not magno/matte) on saddle brown, but I did go with the carbon ceramic brakes. Silver wheels with gold brakes and THAT interior?!? 😙👌🏾

I worked for Mercedes before, and I may say they are beautiful, but are more computer and codes than machine, and the machine breaks more than the computers. Stick of Japanese if you want value and reliability.
We all know that Japanese cars are reliable but in every other category they suck.

Why anyone would chose the AMG GTR or GTC over a C8 HTC totally baffles me especially at a $120k premium. I had a 2016 GTS and system faulted after 3 days, leather driver seat was separating at 3 weeks when I sold it and went back to my C7. Ergonomics are terrible in comparison to C8 which is nicer inside, better riding, much better visuals, and a retracting hardtop that asks for no compromises compared with the coup. It is faster to 60, tied at qtr mile, and same top speed (base C8) with much more curb appeal. If you want a supercar to enjoy everyday buy a C8. Even a C7 is a better choice.
Of course you avoided mentioning the AMG-GT's out handling the C8 HTC. This roadster has rear wheel steering with perfect weight distribution, no rear bias. Steering feel is much better too even though he never mentions any of these things.
@@LawrenceMarkFearon Big premium for those supposed advantages 99.9% will never use. In the real world the C8 is just a much better choice and far better daily driver.
@@philsalley3278 Therefore at a track or backroad, a C8 could never beat the AMG and everyone knows it.
@@LawrenceMarkFearon I think you would need the GTR and a good driver to beat the C8 at the margins plus the C8 is a much easier car to drive fast so I think most drivers would do better in the C8 and when the Z06 comes out it will be no contest.
@@LawrenceMarkFearon Looked up comparison numbers for AMG GTS vs C8 and C8 was faster at all measured speeds up to 160 mph, top speed AND on the track. So much for German superiority on the track or road.
