REVIEW: Shmee150's Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster Is Not What I Expected
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 тра 2022
- Today I get to sample one of the famous Shmeemobiles. Tim of @Shmee150 invited me down the The Shmuseum, and let me drive more or less anything I wanted. As the weather was good, I chose the AMG - and it was not the car I thought!

Hope this collaboration brings a new wave of subs for James... He deserves at least double what he's got at this point
My sentiments exactly.
Completely agreed
I think schmee stopped growing and reached out for some more airtime, not the other way round. could have at least met James for an interview
totally agree 100%
Agreed
I am down with the JayEmm channel and his more in-depth critical analysis as a genuine petrolhead, Jay takes no prisoners he says it as he drives it….no gimmicks!
This one was great, hopefully get to see you do more Shmuseum cars soon.
Very cool car. Nice video. Looking forward to your DBS video if you get the chance. Keep up the good work.
Another great video, James!
Some of Tim's spec choices aren't quite for me, but the GTR is a beauty
Great HD closeups on the car details
Great car, great cars and great video!
I think part of the problem with AMG is every second merc has the AMG badge on it. It used to be that an AMG was a fully worked over merc. Now they stick an AMG badge on diesels with AMG mags.
The AMG badge has lost its exclusiveness.
Isnt that true for all the brands
BMW and M are perhaps even worse. But it seems like everyone these days, all the way down to Kia, has a Sport-Pose and then a Sport model.
great video
Love to see any of Tim's cars
16:30 "He's out of line, but he's right."
Well underneath it technically is😅 but that's a long story for another day.
You won me with this review
Excellent content and excellent Collab, loved the video!
That does look niceee!!
Man do you have the gift of gab ! I can't talk that much, in fact I don't like to talk a lot. Your going to have your own museum if you want too.
I meet Tim the other day in London, he is a humble guy, spoke and took pictures with everybody. Nice to meet him.
Top marks on this video 👍🏾
This is a cool video.. Take the C63 Black Series, hell yes! Would love to see your take on it.. I have to say I truly love this collaboration of channels between you guys. Just wonderful. I love the way you break down a car. Really gives me a good idea of what the car is really like. Whether or not to even look at one.. Awesome video.. Definitely ready for the next one.. Take care.
awful colour.
James please do a video on all 3 of your Ferraris together!
Massive respect to Tim to amass such a phenomenal collection of gorgeous cars. Thank you for reviewing this and maybe more. Big fan of yours as well.
Still didn't saw one on the road, cool car!
Great video James short of Tim himself you have the most detailed videos on you tube. Please take his c63 black series out as I d love you to tell me that it's not that much better than the standard c63 which at 25K I could afford as opose to the black series which is now 100K more!
The revs at 7000 if you ignore the instructions to change up, as is common with all mercs and smarts it says OK 👍🏻 and changes for you, bang on the red line.
One of the reasons for them losing value is the new engine sounds bloody awful with a sports exhaust unlike the previous generation v8 that sound like thunder.
To know the chassis limit you need to actually get near it to know that, those road speeds aren't going to tell you that regardless of steering feel.
This.
If shmee rebounded himself as just regular Tim, he would be more likeable. He seemed nice in this video for instance. Beautiful car. Nice review
Yes, please, I‘d love to see a proper review of a 6.2L C63 (any variant, honestly). It‘s one of the most loved Benzes and has so much character. Best German V8 engine too in my opinion.
These videos are such a delight. Thank you for what you do.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful, left field and rare daily.
You can make a racket with a 1 litre fiesta or corsa. You can’t go 0-60 in 3 seconds in them though.
Boss clio on the ramp there
Good vid 🤌
Do the Smart Roadster next :)
Shmee still rocking the lego hairstyle 👌
Only just subscribed to your channel as I saw you on Shmee channel and all I can is im loving your content and the quality of the videos are top notch keep up the great work
Thanks very much Keith, welcome aboard!
Awesome review as ever Jay
so glad that you and tim are friends and that he so generously allowed you to pick any car , such a gent i wish you and tim all the best
Great buy right now some are under 200
Not gonna lie I am looking forward for more collaboration between you and Tim.
Also, having tried the GT R PRO with OPF-choked exhaust, I must say I actually agree that it hasn't really affected the thrill of that M178 engine. Still sounds pretty barmy to me.
That’s so true, I’ve driven the GTR Pro too and it sounds incredible 🔥🔥
I am very lucky to have driven a GT R PRO with OPF and I can confirm (from the inside at least) it still sounds pretty savage. The stiff engine mounts really help, it makes it feel very racecar.
I‘m surprised that he never reviewed the 992 Turbo S!
.....can't help myself but the mentioned rude boy...the original dangerous raw Viper with direct mechanical unisolated unfiltered response and feedback is the car making me turned on and excited....because it's incredibly great fun even under speed limits....
What a cool collaboration, great video 👍🔥
Love that car not silly shouty like few supercars
Loving the clio on the ramp in the background in a room full of supercars 😂
best car in his collection
Absolutely top banana that Tim gave you an open choice to review some of his cars. Your reviewing technique, James is first class and provides a different angle on the cars than Shmee himself. I really look forward to you getting behind the wheel of other Shmeemobiles. Great job!
Not sure I have heard Tim talk about recent McLaren problems James?🤔
The GTR is gorgeous, such a wide and muscular design, sits so well on the road🔥👍
Good job! I follow Tim’s channels and enjoy his guests. That was a really good review on the GT.
Which do you prefer, the SLS Roadster you tested last year or this GTR?
This by a mile!
The GTR Pro sounds exactly like my cup of tea 😁 Great review as always! Nice one!
Agree with you on the previous GT S. I drove one and to me it drove like a C63, not a sports car (or supercar)
Isn’t the C63 a sports car?
@@p_mishev Muscle car
@@p_mishev Hyper car
A Gtr badge or name only belongs on one car sorry Mercedes’ lol. However what car that is! Spectacular
The Ford GT..I heard it calling you.."take me, take me".
Hmmm.... 16:36 I spy a bright orange Lotus!
Great video.
I like Tim’s knowledge on models, driving experiences and cars aesthetic details but his videos just lack the extra details (garage speak) i want. It’s like he’s being overly polite in case some sponsor or manufacturer will turn on him for just having a real world opinion. That’s a shame, as he then just sounds like a rich guy bragging about ‘another’ posh car in his collection.
If Tim was less of a salesman and opened up more i’d watch him more!
Has he been overly polite with McLaren or Lotus ?
Tim fully enjoys his cars, and the man can actually drive.
He’s not into reviews or trash talking Dealers.
He buys a lot of cars and never seems to get any problems. Strange that certain people do…..:
Some UA-camrs repeat the same thing in every video. Steering feel, heel n toe, turning circle blah blah.
Tim seems like a douche with too much money.
From what I can tell, Tim's pretty clueless about engineering and mechanical matters - I stopped watching his channel when he started literally replacing a 1 year old car with the newer model because the entertainment system had been updated - I don't need to see a video about the changes in the entertainment system between model years.
This episode solidified my opinnion regarding how much better car reviwer/commentator James is compared to others...we know we will have an unbiased opinnion, practical, honest, detailed, as oposed to the "rosy" all perfect all wonderfull opinnion of shmee ...iMho...cheers.
What happened to SMEE Rolex Daytona on bracelet? What is he wearing now? Surprised you did not take GT40 out
16:37 is that the Lotus i spot?
C63 black series pls
Looks like a mercedes luxury viper
17:50 Clio!
AWESOME DUO!
Definitely would like to see a review of the C63 black series 👌🏽
As a spiritual successor to the 300 SL, aero be damned I hate the wing. Would much have preferred MB had worked some sort of undercarriage magic instead. Otherwise a very desirable car. The base coupe is the looker of the range though.
I prefer seeing shmee being recorded instead of his usual self blogging.
"They're not paying for it, so they don't get to hear it." Excellent statement, James.✌🏻🇺🇸
Nice couple of vids - I’ve never doubted that Tim is a perfectly nice guy, who is reaping the rewards of his relentlessly hard work and driven ambition.
Suits this channel, and JayEmm himself, to have a fairly laidback cameo from someone who so obviously oozes passion for all things automotive.
It can't have slipped your attention that Mercedes have not had a good rep for reliability for a couple of decades or more now, transmission failures being a common theme here. And when they break, they are EXPENSIVE to fix! OK, all supercars are expensive to buy and fix. But Mercs used to have that fabled 'Built to last' badge, among their other badges, and now they just don't. Last that is. As power has gone up - power was not an original Merc subtext back in the day, while precision engineering, and the durability that went with it was - so reliability has declined. So, that's it - a 2 year old Merc which has been driven hard and which hasn't suffered any powertrain failures yet, very soon will. Hence the depreciation.
That 4.0 engine & transmission is tried & tested been reliable. What you talking about? You don’t even have any experience of an AMG.
Yeah. Built to last was lost in the 90s, so long gone. The Chrysler years in the early 2000s were particularly bad
LAMBO STO PLZ !!!
Having my favorite British car UA-camr in the Fl-Exposition, owned by my least favorite UA-camr all round is like putting Marmite on your kipper. It is interesting but leaves a bad aftertaste,.
Another great breakdown of a car. I love these reviews. Thanks again!
i really like convertibles, hence the convertible mustang in my avvy. no doubt merc makes some of the most wicked convertibles.
i really miss seeing metal under the hood. i understand the importance of engine covers. but i looooove metal
Love the pole positions👌 nice car but drop tops don’t quite do it for me…..though I wouldn’t say no to one 😂 The black series is something I’m definitely looking forward to 🕺🏼
Would love to see a C63 BS review, great video mate.
C63 👍
It's weird how some people just rub you the wrong way. Tim (well, actually Shmee) is one of those people for me. I'm sure he's a good guy irl, but here on UA-cam I've blocked his channel because of... reasons. Don't really know why. It's just one of those things.
I feel the same about the Stradman
Me too
I feel like this about many car youtubers, and youtubers in general. While I am only in my mid 20s, I feel like they try to appeal to teenagers, and not the brightest of them.
Furthermore, their lack of (car) knowledge is shocking.
It's his cheesy grin in the thumbnails. You just want to punch his face 😂
@@LawrenceTimme smug 😆 tim is fine its tom who's the annoying one...Brad is the best
I don't think I'd be able to make the choice in that garage.
That car is amazing love the spec on that one minus the yellow stitching
Love the sound of that V8 biturbo!! 😍
This one one of my favorites in his collection
Just out of curiosity I went on the dvla registration site, seems he has bought every SH ..MEE plate they have!
Yea please drive the c63
Thanks J, the AMG has a real presence, does look brutish, but perhaps too much so for British roads/tastes.
Is 'Shmee' a nickname or short for something?
Sound Hebrew
Sure its limited but there are too many versions. Also the engine is great but a e/ c63 has a similar one.
Track focused car and convertible ? What better way to make sure pretty much none of them ever see a track. Ugghh
I like the car but the yellow belt and stitching just don't match this shade of red.
bug wagon. the center console is a spider staring you in the face.
I've always seen it its front end a squirrel avidly eating an acorn
Great content, as always, but colours are just so far off and everything appears way over exposed.
It was a particularly bright day - and exposure is a constant struggle (especially when I'm driving as the cameras are doing it themselves)
Definitely would like to see a video on the C63
"A grown up viper" so what you're saying is, it won't do a "Jonny" and fire you backwards into the trees because you dared to use more than half throttle.
That's nice, handy, that is.
(I'm still not sure that I like these mercs, good video tho)
Mercedes watered down the whole AMG name.
How did Tim make all his money
Daddy
@@paulie-Gualtieri. and how did his daddy make all his money
Id have an AMG GT over beetle any day. Beetles are massively overhyped.
7:22 Did you attach the camera onto a tree branch or something?
Love seeing the two of you team up for content.
Love the Shmee 😁
Can we call this a collaboration if the two protagonists never appear together?
Yes you can - and in any case we both appeared together in the video Tim made!
@@JayEmmOnCars Then I'll look forward to watching that one.
