Ann Wilson is the singer and Nancy Wilson was the one playing the acoustic guitar. They are sisters. So many great songs you need to check out from this band!
If you start to listen to more Heart you will gain insight on the guitar solo Nancy played to intro this performance as it included some opening riffs for a few of their other great songs.
Their live version of "Stairway To Heaven" with the three living members of Led Zeppelin in attendance as well as the late great John Bonham's son on stage playing the drums for them is something to see!
Agreed; Inna just needs to make sure she reacts to the FULL 7:59 version of the performance as there are chopped-versions out there that cut out the entire second verse along with one of Ann's signature voice explosions.
Before any newbie watches that performance they should first get acquainted with the music (and history) of both Heart and Led Zeppelin, otherwise they won't fully understand the impact. Not to say that they couldn't watch it at any time and still be amazed, but you only get to see it once for the first time, and spending a little time listening to their respective catalogs makes it that much more awesome!
The legendary Wilson sisters! I was a teenager the first time I heard Ann Wilson and she has remained no. 1 in my ‘heart’ and my list of great singers. Sister Nancy Wilson one of the great guitarists…and can sing too! Commuting to university in Manila, two hour bus ride at break-neck speed where the drivers don’t follow any rules of the road, with all the windows down. The wind blowing bugs into your teeth! With HEART at full volume in the bus’ stereo, speakers in front and the rear of the bus! I can still feel the wind blowing my hair (bald now, sigh) whenever I hear Heart! Check out Heart’s Barracuda!
I agree, Ann Wilson is my favorite female rock singer. Her sister Nancy playing the acoustic 🎸 also plays a great electric 🎸. Plenty of good songs for you to discover. Barracuda should be your next song. Have a wonderful day. 😊🎉❤
Heart was huge in the 70s and into the 80s. Ann Wilson is considered one of the great rock vocalists, and her sister Nancy is a fantastic guitarist. They have many huge hits.
Heart had a Rock side and a soft Ballad side to their catalog of hits. Try Dog and Butterfly Live in Seattle and Mistral Wind. Two of ny favorites. Amazing in concert!!
Ann Wilson is the rare female vocalist who was able to keep her vocal clarity and power into her sixties. Her cover/tribute of Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven, performed in front of the surviving members of the band, with her sister on acoustic guitar and John Bonham's son on the drum kit, was absolutely stunning.
The fans picked this up that Nancy was putting a bit of more than one song into her intro. lol This is the best live performance I've seen of this song.
These sisters are frigging amazing! 'Barracuda' & 'Alone' are a couple of my favorites, however I think their best performance is at the Kennedy center honoring Led Zepplin & doing Led's biggest hit 'Stairway to heaven' while Led Zeppelin watched the performance. Ann was in her 60's & she & Nancy were still rocking it out. You need to watch Led Zeppelin do their tune first & then watch the tribute. Both performances are amazing.
They weren't under appreciated, they had issues due to the Vietnam War. Ann's boyfriend, the guitarists brother, dodged the draft and the whole band moved to Canada.
Led by sisters Ann (lead vocals) & Nancy Wilson (acoustic guitar) Heart was in their prime with their original line up back in the 70's. Nancy can sing too, but Ann is an absolute powerhouse. Heart was often called the "female Led Zeppelin". Check out "Barracuda", "Dog and Butterfly", "Magic Man", "Nada One", "Sing Child, Sing", "Say Hello", and pretty much everything else off of their first 4 albums. They have a lot of great songs later on as well but when their line up changed they went from being a progressive rock band to a pop rock band.
Nancy blows me away in this song , That guitar playing is Hot!!!!! Then you got her sister as well with that insane voice . The whole band rocks. To see women playing better than the men do . To see how awesome they perform , you just fall in love with it. I guess you can just call it magic.
Ann (Lead singer) & Nancy (Acoustic guitar) Wilson - HEART. Although the other band members have change over the years, the sisters are still together going strong. My opinion, Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful and beautiful voices ever.
Definitely do more Heart! Their song Barracuda is just my amazing. My personal favourite is Love Alive. Also they did an INSANE tribute of Stairway to Heaven in 2012 at the Kennedy Center where Led Zeppelin was being honoured. It honestly is one of the best covers ever imo.
Ann Wilson is considered one of the best rock vocalists. Nancy Wilson is one of the top tier guitarists of the 70s. Stunning that two such great talents are sisters!
Ann Wilson (lead vocals) joined the band that became Heart in the early 70's... Her younger sister Nancy Wilson (rhythm & acoustic guitar) joined by the mid-70's after Heart had moved to Canada... Their debut album 'Dreamboat Annie' was the first heavy rock album to feature a female lead singer in 1975 and became a hit w/ the singles 'Magic man' ... 'Crazy on you'... 🔥🤘 In 1977, Heart changed record labels and broke big w/ the album 'Little queen'... w/ the hit single 'Barracuda'... They spent the 70's as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. However, the early 80's were difficult after Heart changed members (Ann and Nancy Wilson were the only original members left) and their popularity dropped by 1983... Heart made the decision in 1985 to sign w/ a new label and got an image makeover to look like an 80's glam rock band and had their songs written by outside songwriters & producers. In 1985, Heart's self-titled album was a huge hit on MTV and radio and sold multi-platinum... Despite their renewed success and more platinum-selling records, the music industry was not happy that vocalist Ann Wilson had gained weight in the 80's. In music videos, guitarist Nancy Wilson was prominently featured, while Ann Wilson's plus-size frame was kept out of view. In the early 90's, grunge rock from Seattle (where Heart came from) had dropped Heart's popularity... Heart decided to take a break around 1995. In 2002, Ann and Nancy Wilson reunited in a new Heart line-up and made a comeback to touring and making new records... Sadly, the 2 sisters have been at odds this last decade, but have toured recently. Other Heart songs - 'Even it up' ... 'These dreams' ... 'Alone' ... 'What about love' ... 'All I wanna do is make love to you' ... 'Dog & butterfly'... 🤘🔥
Ann and Nancy get all the glory, and certainly they are awesome and deserve the accolades. Not only awesome vocalists and musicians, but I had a big crush on those sisters back then too. 😊 But the rest of the original '70s lineup was awesome too, especially Roger Fisher, who is I think an underrated guitar player and one of my inspirations. Apart from Ann's vocals it was largely his guitar playing that attracted me to Heart back in the day. Then Fisher and later bassist Steve Fossen, who are actually the founders of the band, got fired from their own band and Heart basically became the Ann and Nancy show. Then they had a lot of hits with '80s power ballads and gained a lot of new fans, but lost a lot of us original fans.
I agree, I love the lineup with Roger Fisher, and the rest of that Era. IMHO they were the best. Love Magic Man, Crazy on You & Barracuda. The Roger Fisher down and dirty heavy riffs have always been my cup of tea 🤘 That drummer was great too and the others on guitar, keyboards and bass. They were a true powerhouse of a band and the sound was epic.
Saw them a little over 30 years later and they might have sounded even better than they did then. Ann sings most of the songs but a couple of their hit songs has Nancy(her sister and the one playing the acoustic guitar) taking lead vocals. She is no slouch of a singer either.
I went to elementary and highschool in Burnaby B.C., Canada with Ann and Nancy's cousin Grant.I met Ann and Nancy way back when, haven't seen them in quite awhile . Tho they were from Seattle, Washington they spent alot of time in B.C, Canada... they did their recording at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver! They still sound just as great now as way back when.
You probably haven't heard of them because you're not in your 60s age-wise. Being as I am, I feel so lucky to have grown up with so much musical talent available every day. Long live rock!
You don't have to be in your 60s to love this band. I'm 42 and have been a Heart fan for a while. Just sad that I was only born in 82 and was to young to appreciate their 80s stuff.
The smile you’re wearing is what classic rock does, & at the top are Ann & Nancy Wilson with Heart. Nancy is an absolutely fantastic guitarist & Ann has one of the best voices in rock. Hope you do more Inna!
I was at this show- The wind was really blowing- and, speaking as a lead vocalist? There's not much harder than trying to sing INTO a wind, trying to project your voice, even with all the amps, etc. You could hear breaths you'd not normally hear in this song from Ann, and her improvisation to overcome this? Was insane- in fact, it helped me to do better, when I eventually had this same issue. Some bands, live? NO DIFFERENT than the album you'd buy. Heart was one of these- Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Journey, AC/DC, just a few of the others. That was always important to me- that bands sound... not, "identical", because all artists like to improvise LIVE- But... just stay true to the song we fell in love with, as these did.
I am 67 and one of the first albums I ever boiught was Dream Boat Annie which featured this song. It brings tears to my eyes every tme I hear this song
Heart was/is so loved and respected in the rock/hard rock community with this song and Barracuda, Magic Man, Dog and butterfly.. plus many more hits.. they did the impossible… NO ONE ever plays the song Stairway to Heaven, it is considered the greatest rock song in history and ur never gonna play it as good as Led Zeppelin .. no one wants to be the band that screwed up THAT song.. but when Heart played it at the Zeppelin tribute NO ONE complained, they played it so amazing, even members of Zeppelin watching were crying.. we love Heart.. how u never heard of them “as a woman” i cannot believe.. they broke through as the first rock/hard rock band with a female singer “ann wilson” and a female guitarist “nancy wilson”.. sisters
Greatest female rock group ever and top 10 of all groups male or female. Led Zeppelins favorite group. The only group LZ ever gave permission to cover their songs.
Wow, I can't believe this footage exists. My 1st concert was Heart when I was 14 years old (1st without a parental escort... a big deal when you're 14!).... at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Must have been this tour. How fun to hear this after all these years.
Recorded at Portland Jam, Portland International Raceway. Sat. September 2nd 1978. A few more videos from this concert on UA-cam, Straight On, Cook with Fire and High Time.
INNA…You are so right, great classic rock music transcends time…Ann & Nancy Wilson were some of the first incredibly talented female Rockers to brake down the glass ceiling for women in Rock n’ Roll…
When "Crazy on You" was released as a single here in Canada, back in the spring of 1976, Heart was everywhere on AM radio, and their album, DREAMBOAT ANNIE, became a household phrase. I remember those days vividly!
You are in for some happiness. Heart has decades worth of great music for you. A few years ago when Floor Jansen was asked who her favorite singer was, the answer was Ann Wilson.
You need to check out "Magic man" "Barracuda" "Straight on" "Dog and butterfly" and one of their best songs "All I want to do is make love to you" (even though they hated the song because of the subject matter, they were pressured into recording it).
Just To Let You Know, From An Young 62 yrs old. There's Anne Singing And Her Sister On The Acoustic Guitar, The Wilson Sister's, I Saw Them Perform The First Of Three Concert's At The Seattle Coliseum In The Mid 80's, And Anne The Singer Stopped In The Middle Of The Show Your Crazy In Seattle And We Got Two More Show's To Go, Finishing New Year,s Eve. It Was ( ONE ROCKIN NIGHT ) Great Memeries !!!! !!!!
Got to see them in their prime, still in the top 3 concerts I've ever seen. They absolutely burned the place down. Nancy can play anything with a string on it and Ann can shatter glass with her voice - these two and their band rocked. Lord Have Mercy - they were good ! !
When I first heard it on the radio, I didn't know if there were multiple guitars on the intro, or it was overdubbed. Then a couple months later I saw their first major tour ('77). Holy cow?! That's just Nancy?! On one 6-string guitar?! And for the encore, Ann sat alone at a grand piano under a spotlight and did Without You, which would be on their next album.
It is always a delight to see you discover a new band for you Inna. In respect to Heart, the old saying applies "You ain't seen nothin' yet.". Check out "Barracuda" and "Magic Man".
Awesome - yes. Incredible - yes. But also just another incredible awesome song on my car radio in the 70's. There would be another dozen or so NEW ones TOMORROW! It is only NOW that I realize what a FANTASTIC time it was to be a young adult.
I am SO GLAD you found this version of it with the longer intro. It's the same way on the album only in this live setting, Nancy adds an extra section in the middle of the intro, and then when she hits that final setup for the main part of the song, you can hear the crowd starting to go crazy. Pardon the pun. Definitely should check out both Magic Man and then slightly later, Barracuda. Along with this song, those three were on the radio all the time for years and years. The Wilson sisters also really boosted Ovation by playing their guitars and really championing them them there for a while.
I graduated high school in 1977. I liked all kinds of music; but, mainly Rock and Roll. Favorite Bands were (just to name a few): Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Rolling Stones, and Heart. Great Reaction! Thanks! Glad you seemed to like this song as well as I do. 🙂❤
I saw Nancy in an interview where she said on this tour, she started playing whatever came to out for the opening riff where before she played the same one each night. I loved her playing the guitar.
I saw them in the Yale Bowl in 1978 or 1979. 70,000 people there, and about two dozen Frisbees were flying all over the place, never spending more than a few seconds on the ground before being tossed up again. One Frisbee hit Nancy in the head during a song, and she picked it up and threw it back into the crowd, and kept playing.
Been a fan since the 70s, saw them the 1st time in concert in 1983. Seen them 3 times since. They were still rockin it the last time i saw them in 2017? Their covers of Led Zeppelin are amazing. A must see is their performance of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center!
Nancy sold me on Ovation guitars with this performance. A sound that can't be reproduced on any other brand of guitar. Sure Nancy played other types of guitar during her career, but the sound of an Ovation just can't be beat. Loved your reaction.
Saw them in 1978 at the first Texas Jam and again in 1980 at the Dallas Civic Center for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Both were powerful but the second was phenomenal. Since they were on national radio they pulled out all the stops. Every time there were commercials they would leave the stage and then come back on for the next set. It was like they opened four times for us that night over three Hours. I'll never forget how great they were.
True rock alumni! To weave such beautiful poetry into rock music. I was a willow last night in a dream, I bent down over a clear running stream. Singing a song that heard up above and you kept me alive with your sweet flowing love...
My favorite female rock singers Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. Pat Benatar. These ladies can do it as good as the guys can! Just listen to their powerful voices, but also can sing a ballad softly. Check these ladies out! Nice reaction. This song is from the Dreamboat Annie from 1976. Great stuff!
Heart were huge over here in Canada and the US in the late 70’s. I remember driving around in my car blasting this on the cassette player (yes, a cassette player 😅).
Enjoyed your reaction to this classic gem. Heart was actually formed in 1967 by lead guitarist Roger Fisher and bassist Steve Fossen. They became pretty popular throughout the west coast. Playing county fairs, small clubs, music festivals and street fairs. Ann Wilson auditioned for Heart, in 1970, after their first vocalist left. She was immediately hired. Her sister Nancy joined the band in 1974.
I'm glad you're doing this one. The video isn't all that great, but the sound is and Nancy's extended intro is magic. I saw them in 1977 on the "Little Queen" tour.
The Heart version of "Alone" was also already a cover, just like "Without you" that was later also covered by Mariah Carey. But yeah, "Alone" was one of Floors covers where i couldn't say straight "Its better than the older version", which means a lot if you know Floor and how easy she just crushes most songs she covers.
Another band I've seen more times than I could count. They are the real deal. Always good live. From a time without things like autotune, when they actually had talent, and could play real musical instruments. I've seen a halfway decent video of them performing Barracuda on UA-cam, worth checking out! It may be possible to find Magicman as well.
Hi from Sheffield Yorkshire England THI IS A FEMALE FRONTED BAND FRONTED BY ANN AND NANCY WILSON FORMED IN THE 70S AND STILL NOW ANN AS A FERNOMINAL VOICE
Thank you for being here! ❤ 🎶 If you're enjoying the vibes, I'd love to invite you to join me live on Twitch for more musical fun and chats. Click here to follow along: www.twitch.tv/innasolo
This voice is arguably the best female voice in rock. Yes, they are in the Rock and roll hall of fame.
Only two voices were able to fill my local 16 thousand seat venue- Steven Tyler and Ann Wilson.
Janis Joplin.
@@Caseytify a worthy voice , but she could not compete with Ann’s incredible octave range.
Seattle, representing. Well, "old" Seattle anyways.....
No argument from me!
Legends!!!
Ann has the best female rock voice EVER. No question. Truly a great singer
Check out the official music video of "ALONE" --- one of their greatest songs!
The singer & Blonde regurlar guitarist player are sisters. The Wilson sisters....Legends. Dive in to more of their songs...
Ann Wilson the singer is one of the most bad ass front woman of all time and her sister Nancy is a bad ass guitarist. They are rock n roll.
Ann Wilson is the singer and Nancy Wilson was the one playing the acoustic guitar. They are sisters. So many great songs you need to check out from this band!
Brings me back to the 70’s when I was still in my 20’s

I agree as well, but I think she should listen to and react to the original then the full tribute.

Yes it is perhaps the best song recorded
@@islandseeker1260 Heart ended up not being too shabby for a Zeppelin cover band, huh? So much so that they are my favorite 70's band, period.
Nancy's poster is still on my wall, and I'm 65.
This music was clearly ahead of it's time. No question about it.
The legendary Wilson sisters! I was a teenager the first time I heard Ann Wilson and she has remained no. 1 in my ‘heart’ and my list of great singers. Sister Nancy Wilson one of the great guitarists…and can sing too!

One of the best Rock Bands male or female ever.
THE POWER AND RANGE OF ANNS VOICE IS PRACTICALY UNMATCHED IN FEMALE FRONTED ROCK METAL BAND'S
But, she's right there at the top. Linda Ronstadt has done Mexican & a double big band album. Stevie Nicks comes close.
The fans picked this up that Nancy was putting a bit of more than one song into her intro. lol This is the best live performance I've seen of this song.
The GREATEST female voice in rock history
Janis Joplin is a VERY close second, but Ann wins the longevity tiebreaker.
This.
Best sister duo and the best voice in rock
The song Magic man from this same performance is incredible.
Great version - just can't stand many of the faces in that audience. One of my favorites of theirs is "Love Me Like Music" on their first album.
Inna, I doubt you were even born yet, but the 70's had awesome music!!!!!!!!❤❤
No question the most under appreciated rock band of the era. Seems it took decades for people to really figure them out and dig back in.
They weren't under appreciated, they had issues due to the Vietnam War. Ann's boyfriend, the guitarists brother, dodged the draft and the whole band moved to Canada.
It’s timeless classic music.
Anne and Nancy are top notch musicians. Heart was a fixture in music from 1973 on.
Led by sisters Ann (lead vocals) & Nancy Wilson (acoustic guitar) Heart was in their prime with their original line up back in the 70's. Nancy can sing too, but Ann is an absolute powerhouse. Heart was often called the "female Led Zeppelin".

Nancy Wilson on guitar and Ann is THE goddess of voice.

Also they did an INSANE tribute of Stairway to Heaven in 2012 at the Kennedy Center where Led Zeppelin was being honoured. It honestly is one of the best covers ever imo.

Everything they did was outstanding.. 2 beautiful talented sisters and a great band

Yes, do the Kennedy Center Honors of Led Zeppelin with Ann Wilson singing.
When Nancy Wilson kicks her leg and struts forwad with her hair blowing back, I get chills! Fantastically talented sisters and both gorgeous to boot.
I saw them live 3 times in the late 1970's. They continued into the 1980's with a more glam persona, but their 70's rock roots were their best work.
Ann Wilson! For more Heart check out "Barracuda" and "Alone"..

What a sweet memory ❤️
Up to this day I have not been able to decide if I like Crazy on you or Barracuda better. Impossible to choose between the two.
That's one of the many things great about music, you don't have to choose, you can love them both.
It's hard to decide, that's a fact.
What I can tell you is that both are great live.
Been there, done that August 16th 1977.
@@vernhoke7730you lucky bastard
Nancy's intro puts CoY over the top for me. Barracuda a really close second.
I always thought the Willow and Stream part was beautifully poetic, then I heard their live unplugged version and yea simply incredible.
I absolutely love both of these beautiful and talented women.
1 MINUTE SHES BLOWING YOUR MIND WITH HER POWER NEXT MINUTE SHE HAS YOU ON TEARS BY TOUCHING YOUR HEART SOUL BY TOUCHING YOUR FEELS❤❤❤
Ann Wilson (singer), born June 19, 1950, is still touring in 2023.
This was my favorite song in my junior year in high school when it first came out. Life-long Heart fan ever since.
Much of the Golden Era of music is Timeless
And for the encore, Ann sat alone
at a grand piano under a spotlight and did Without You, which would be on their next album.
The Wilson sisters are rock legends and their career spanned over decades with many hits
"Almost as if it were new!" This song and quite a few others from Heart during this [early and mid-70s] era have aged very well.
They have aged so well!
You need to hear the entire album Dream Boat Annie
I am SO GLAD you found this version of it with the longer intro. It's the same way on the album only in this live setting, Nancy adds an extra section in the middle of the intro, and then when she hits that final setup for the main part of the song, you can hear the crowd starting to go crazy. Pardon the pun.
Definitely should check out both Magic Man and then slightly later, Barracuda. Along with this song, those three were on the radio all the time for years and years. The Wilson sisters also really boosted Ovation by playing their guitars and really championing them them there for a while.
70s rock baby
I graduated high school in 1977. I liked all kinds of music; but, mainly Rock and Roll. Favorite Bands were (just to name a few): Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Rolling Stones, and Heart. Great Reaction! Thanks! Glad you seemed to like this song as well as I do. 🙂❤
I saw Nancy in an interview where she said on this tour, she started playing whatever came to out for the opening riff where before she played the same one each night. I loved her playing the guitar.
Hello sweetheart and Wilson is the greatest female singer to me of all time. Keep up the good work dear love your reactions
Doesn't get much better than the Wilson Sisters, and this whole band! SO good!!! Great reaction! :)
Get ready to rock 🤘🏼🎸watch the leg kick.
As others have mentioned, another great uptempo number of theirs from this era is "Barracuda."
True rock alumni! To weave such beautiful poetry into rock music. I was a willow last night in a dream, I bent down over a clear running stream. Singing a song that heard up above and you kept me alive with your sweet flowing love...
They are just absolute legends. So many great albums, so many great songs. Try "Alone" powerful ballad, powerful vocals
Cool song. I was 15 when this album was released. One of the first 10 albums I bought.
Heart were huge over here in Canada and the US in the late 70’s. I remember driving around in my car blasting this on the cassette player (yes, a cassette player 😅).
Dreamboat Annie, fantastic album
Great band, awesome songs barracuda, alone (covered by floor) known also for covers of stairway to heaven and many more. I have lots on vinyl
@@beldin2987 😉 hows life as blue banded hawk?
Excellent choice. That's a great performance from a great band.
