What a performance! The vocals on Ann Wilson and then also that guitar intro with Nancy Wilson - awesome! Loved hearing and watching Crazy On You by Heart.

In my opinion she's the greatest female rock vocalist of all time. Still going strong today!
How can you be a voice coach and this is the first time you have heard the magnificent Ann Wilson? Shameful
No doubt
Absolutely! She's one of my two favorite female singers. Have always wore these ladies songs out. I got this Album when it first came out 💜💃😎👍
Yep. ANN is my DREAMBOAT ANNIE! ❤❤❤❤
Some idiots doing one of those lists about best singers put Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson (who is a good singer) ahead of Ann Wilson on their list ,- definitely not music people
The Wilson sisters are forces of nature, and still at it in their 70's. I just saw Ann doing a guest turn with Disturbed...wow. Makes me feel young again, well younger anyway,
I'd like to have seen that!
Nancy played variants of this intro in every concert. Distinctively different variants. She's gorgeous and an amazing musician.
And guitarist across the land lost their minds in failed attempts to duplicate her intro😅
She finally revealed it during a YT interview.
Yeah, she was mixing in acoustic parts from multiple songs into the intro here. At least 2 other songs I could recognize, though I don't remember the names.
@@bwcbiz - This video starts already about a third of the way into "Silver Wheels". While Nancy played this in concert for some time, it didn't make it into an album until 2 years after this concert - as the 3rd track in 1980's Bébé le Strange album. Then, it kicks into the part that is on the Dreamboat Annie album, although on the original Mushroom Records vinyl release, this was still tracked as part of the song "Dreamboat Annie (Fantasy Child)". In this video, the "Fantasy Child" interlude starts when the "Crazy On You" title pops up on screen. Now, right at the 4 minute mark on this video, Nancy switches into the opening riff and second riff of "Hijinx", from the Dog and Butterfly album released in '78 - same year of this concert. Then back to the "Fantasy Child" interlude at about 4:45. Then, the real start of "Crazy On You" when Nancy stops, tosses the thumb pick she had been using, and takes a regular pick off the mic stand.
In various concerts, she switches up not only the parts she plays, but also where she pulls that regular pick from after always tossing the thumb pick at that change point. In one concert, she pulled the pick from her bra strap just below her shoulder. Another time she pulls it from behind her ear. She's made it part of the show.
"Barracuda" from this concert is AWSOME!
No one rocks it on acoustic guitar like Nancy does
Gotta check out "These Dreams" next. Originally presented to Stevie Nicks, she turned it down, and so it was presented to Heart. They sang it in memory of a fan of theirs who had cancer. Nancy Wilson took the lead vocal, and it went to #1 in 1986.
At the time, it was their only song that had Nancy on lead and it was also their first #1
Ah yes, great music from 1986, the year I graduated from high school.👴
"And that kick..."
In those heals!
I saw her do that kick a few times at a concert in 79......in those knee high boots.
Kung Fu movies & the Luke Skywalker look were really popular back in the day. 😄
Ain't nuthin' like '70s rock & Roll! Truly the golden era of classic rock!
Ann Wilson's range and use of technique is crazy! She is a mezzo, but she can easily stay in mixed voice up to nearly C6, head voice of E6, and what nearly sounds like Strohbass down to a solid C3. Most versatile female singer I can think of.
Song called “Straight On” is musically and vocally powerful. You’ll enjoy this one for sure. They have so many great songs but this one is another fav of mine.🙏🏼🌹💕
Heart had so many great songs that were in the top 40, Magic Man came out in 1975, Crazy On You came out in '76, Barracuda came out in '77...but it wasn't until 1986 that they would have their first #1 Hit song and it was the song "These Dreams" sang by Nancy, NOT Anne. Many people forget that Nancy has a great voice as well. Now, Yes, Ann has the most dynamic voice between the two, and the following year in 1987 they would have their 2nd and final #1 Hit song, "Alone" with Ann singing. So they had two #1 hit songs and each sister got to sing one of them...I love it. Great Job as always young lady. Love your channel.
Anne singing at the Kennedy Honors for Led Zeppelin is definitely worth a view. You will see a huge grin on Robert Plant's face during the performance.
This is amazing! Thanks for choosing this one. I love this analysis and seeing your reaction to this incredible voice. ❤
How about the LIVE performance of ALONE at the Royal Philharmonic in 2016, FORTY-THREE years after Heart was formed and nearly 30 years after the song was released? At the time Ann and Nancy were 66 and 62 years of age. 🤯
Ooooh!!! May have to😁 thank you!!
Another good version of “These Dreams" is from the “Heart Alive in Seattle” 2002 concert.
@@JenniferGlatzhoferI'd double down on the suggestion for a recent live performance of 'Alone'. I was fortunate to see Ann live with Tripsitter in October and she is still a powerhouse. The more recent performances of 'Alone' have all the power from her youth, while accessing the emotions of the song in a more intimate way.
@@MarkBtvd That is a fav of mine too and a great showcases of Nancy's vocals. People forget was singing Ann's high harmonies!
I hope you dive more into Heart, no one has a voice like Ann Wilson. They have so many great songs "alone", "what about love", "if looks could kill" are just some of their work ❤
Thank you for listening to the music from the 60s and 70s. It brings back wonderful memories.
This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Barracuda", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".
Ann Wilson is one of a kind. And this performance shows it!
Nancy Wilson is a Phenomenal musician and singer
I can personally attest to how amazing they sound live. Been there, done that, August 16th 1977. Think about that date, it's a moment in music history.
Elvis
One year, to the day, before I got my driver's permit and started riding my dad's Kawasaki Z1b on the streets. The countdown had begun!
Jennifer! Caught up! And I double checked, I'm subscribed. 😁 Oh, Heart! Delving back into my era! Hmm, 1977 ... I was 17. And I definitely know this song. Ian would love those first few minutes wouldn't he? Had not heard this live version, I've heard the recorded version many times. I second the recommendation of Alone from Angie. A different tone and energy to that one. Great reaction and analysis as always Jen. 😊
I'm not particularly into guitars but OMG I've watched Nancy's full intro every time I've played this live performance. It's so cool!
You should check out "Alone" and "Barracuda." Those are two of their other biggest hits. "Alone" has some moments that really showcase Ann Wilson's amazing range and expression. You'll also get to hear more of Nancy's incredible backup vocals if you dig more into their catalogue. There's a live show they did in Seattle back in the early 2000s that has an amazing version of "Alone."
I’m so excited to see you checking out Heart! My favorite band since the 70’s Ann’s voice is unmatched How fun it would be to sing like you do!!!
More reactions to Heart tracks please, they are superb! Great insights as always, thanks Jen 😊
Thank you!!
Grew up in Vancouver, when Heart was “our” band because Americans wouldn’t yet accept a female led band. And yes, I saw them live several times!
Besides Ann and Nancy being so talented, all the members of their band were awesome! ❤️🎶
Great reaction Jen! Try checking out Alone, Dog and butterfly, and Dreamboat Annie. These women are pioneers for all women in rock.
This is hilarious how you've never heard this song before; and one of the most ICONIC acoustic guitar intros EVER!....and well Ann, the BEST female rocker ever!
Jen, I love that you did this. Ann Wilson in her 70s still has a great voice. One of the main reasons is she was taught by Maestro David P Kyle. Look him up. He taught a lot of the great rockers and opera singers alike.😊
You like live? Then see their "Barracuda".
It's worth your time...
Thanks for the reaction!
Nancy is an under appreciated badass! Her vocals are stunning. In fact, their first hit song, “ These Dreams” featured Nancy as the lead vocalist.
My 17th birthday in 1977. All blacked out with only Nancy up high with a spot light on her, and she started playing this. Been in love ever since....
Jennifer, your excellent analyses very nicely complement what I describe in the rest of my comment. Working from my memory, a very dangerous thing to do, Rick Beato includes Nancy's guitar playing in his list of the 20 best acoustic guitar introductions (number 14, think), but more importantly, he declined to play it himself, instead using a video clip (this performance, I think) because he didn't feel that he could do it justice. Also, Fil, on his YT channel "Wings of Pegasus", spent time showing Ann's expert use of the particular type of microphone that she used. All in all, Heart's epic performances inspired some epic reactions, including yours. Thank you.
The Wilson sisters claim their song "Mistral Wind" as their favorite. You should check out the Seattle 2002 performance. Ann's vocals are impressive (per usual).
Agreed 💯 ❤️🔥
These Dreams is great, bbut I always like people reacting to their "Barracuda" in 1977 - that song and "Magic Man" are the two that put the Wilson sisters on the audio map.
Just seen them live in Tampa on 4.26.2024...they were AMAZING!!! Ann and Nancy are still rocking it out as they've been for 50 years! 🔥🔥❤️❤️
The studio recording of this doesn't make use of the breaks and pauses, making it a more fluid performance... This "live" recording shows her skill at drawing on the crowd energy to make a more personalized version for them.
Ann Wilson and Robert Plant are the ones that taught me,in my teens, how to hit those notes like that. I give them all the props, and forever grateful to them.💜😎👍💃😊
I'm seeing Heart in concert again tomorrow night. Always a great show.
Check out Wait for an answer. Ann Wilson goes up many octaves
Nancy is great on the guitar and Ann is one of the best female rock singers out there
Ann had the best voice in the business in the 70's and 80's and is still a force today
Nancy!
They’re in my bucket list and seeing them in May. Best female voice ever!!
It was awesome seeing them live in the mid to late 70's.
Ann was crazy for her magic man. Ended in tears of course 😢
I saw Heart perform in Montreal in 1978. Each time Ann belted out a high note I thought the arena was going to collapse on top of 16,000 people. She was an UNREAL singer with all the power in the world. Between her, Bob Seger, Paul Rodgers and Ian Gillan, I've been fortunate to witness some of the greatest, most powerful rock singers of all time.
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤😊
Thanks, Jen! I have three more favorites from Heart than the two you have done: These Dreams, Alone, and Magic Man. I saw Heart at least twice in the 80s and it was a great show every time! I would also throw into the mix the latest Disturbed video release featuring Ann Wilson, Don’t Tell Me. Ann’s voice with David’s voice equals pure beauty and strength!
I have loved Heart for so many years, but I really believe Ann Wilson's voice just get better with age! She is an absolute icon!
Saw em live in 78, and I bought the same guitar, still have it. She played 3 different or their songs in that intro
That intro is an example of why Nancy Wilson is listed as one of the greatest guitarists. The real intro of this song, Nancy, has 3 or 4 versions. So if you think you learned it, someone will play another version, and you have to try and learn that one.
I love your vocal analysis.... every time you are spot on.... but toward the last bit of the video.... did you happen to notice, will all the moving around Nancy does on stage... her heels on her boots..... lord have mercy....
These Dreams in the 2002 Heart Alive in Seattle concert, mentoned by @rome8180, really showcases Nancy’s talents.
Heart has always been in my top 3 favorites. If you want more of Ann and Nancy, check out a band that they had called "The Lovemongers." Whirlygig was an awesome album. Great analysis and video, Jen. Thank you
❤❤❤ I grew up on this music! 🎼 thanks for sharing 😊
Nancy is my love …. Lol. Since 1980
my favorite Heart song.
Seen them live.Awesome concert!
Queen of rock!!!
I am so sorry Jennifer. I am now subscribed. Evidence of my misdeed: I did NOT know your walls have become Wood Tone. It is very lovely and reminds me of my grandmothers 1950's basement bar.

My first time watching your channel.... Ann Wilson is my favorite female vocalist of all time.... I'm glad I watched, because you have a fantastic voice as well.... I subscribed ❤️🙏
Nice reaction...I think I'll watch a few more, thanks. Heart was an awesome band in the 70's.
When this song broke on radio I was lucky enough to see them at a bar in Canton, Ohio. A real hole of a place.. they were dazzling. The vocals bounced off the walls.
I can't believe its been 34 years since I saw them live, Toronto 1990. Cheap Trick opened for them.
Great reaction, Jennifer. Thanks.
My favorite female rock vocalist of all time! And Nancy on the guitar! These ladies are still slaying it. Check out the duet on between David Draiman and Ann Wilson on Disturbed's "Divisive" album that dropped in Nov 2022. They just released a video for it, and Ann is still killing it at age 73 ... my Queen! 👑
I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many rock concerts through the years beginning in the mid seventies. I’ve seen a number of bands several times and nearly all of them have had a concert where I came away a little disappointed.
Not so with Heart. I have seen them live 7 times and each and every time I have left the venue thinking “what an incredible performance I have just
Witnessed”! 🇨🇱🤘🏻😎
Nancy Wilson is amazing on guitar. Ann is the first woman that sang in this genre of a harder rock sound. She is so good it's easy for her because she has so much power. I can give you some other "Heart" songs that will blow your mind. Heart as a band, is so good together, and have a mega catalog that is insanely good. It'll keep you busy for a long time.❤I'll give you some of my favorites that not too many people are doing yet (I guess they don't know about them yet). I'm just gonna list them here. One recommendation is the studio album "Dog and Butterfly" has a live version of #1 on it. It sounds a lot better than the actual live concert version.
1) Cook with Fire (not about cooking)😅
2)Sing Child (not about children singing)
3)Love Alive (so good)
4)White Lightning and Wine
5)Barracuda (live from this concert)
6)Dog and Butterfly
7)Mistral Wind
This is a good start for you. You'll love them. ❤ They have about 400 more.😊I'll subscribe if you read this and reply.
Double checked!! You are one of my first subscriptions when I discovered reactions and reactors! So... HEART??? It was my senior year ('76) when this album came out!! I was pleasantly surprised to see you reacting to this. I hadn't heard this live version before. As always, GREAT reaction!!
I think you should do Barracuda next. Enjoy.
This is great on it's live performance merits of energy and audience connection, and Nancy's intro solo of course, but the studio version is worth listening to also for sound quality and refinement..
One of the most underrated songs they do is s cover of aging Them Bells, originally by Bob Dylan. It's a duet with Layne Staley from Alice in Chains, and Nancy sings about half the song. Ann joins in at the end. The whole song is really good.
it was GREAT live.
This is a style you would be great singing! 😄
So much great music, enjoy.
Wilson Sisters Rocked... Number 1 Female Rock Band of all time
My personal favorite Heart song is “Alone”, a melancholy rocker with ballad elements, dramatic emotion and some of Ann Wilson’s best notes.
This man rockstar
And it's also insanely close to the original studio version. They dress it up just enough to make it a dynamic Live performance.
How the hell can anyone not know HEART, you aren't a Singer if you have not rocked to these amazing musicians.
Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Official Artist Channel. Theatrical style rock from 1977.
Hello Jennifer... My name is Brian from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, USA...Loved the reaction to Heart's song/video 'Crazy On You'. Yes Ann Wilson could sing her butt off while her sister Nancy Wilson jammed on the guitar... However, if you really want to hear an amazing vocalist then you have to watch Iron Maiden's video for the song 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' 1982 Live from Hammersmith. Singer Bruce Dickinson's voice is considered to be operatic by many people. So if you have not done them already then this video should be your first introduction to Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson's voice, this is back when Bruce's voice was in its prime. If you do not react to this video then i really think you are missing out on the best singing voice in rock ever. There is a good reason why in my opinion i think every other rock singer secretly wishes they could sing like 'Bruce Dickinson'. Also Bruce can hold a note longer than any other singer, his vocal range is unmatched along with his amazing long vibratos. So i really think you should consider doing a reaction to the 1985 Live from Hammersmith video for "Hallowed Be Thy Name", which is about a man sitting on death row being sent to the gallows and looking back on his life. **Pay Attention To The Long Note In Beginning Of Song, And The 2 Long Notes At End Of Song**...Pretty much all of Iron Maiden's songs are about an important event that has happened in history, so it is almost like having a history lesson in every song. So Thank You Jennifer... ~Brian~ White Bear Lake, Minnesota.. 😁 🤘🤘 (click link below)

Magic Man!
She was also amazing with the song "Magic Man", from the same time period.
Wilson Sisters = 100% pure, unadulterated badassery!! And talent for days, none better! Loved your reaction and analysis!!
Great reaction, Jen! Heart was a huge act in the '70s & '80s. You should check out their song Barracuda. It's a favorite. Also, I'm really missing some Angelina Jordan on your channel. I know there are a lot of acts out there to experience, but.... :) Cheers!
Please check out their cover tribute of “Stairway to Heaven”.
@@adwenb I believe she said she reacted to that video.
Enjoyed your reaction. Even though Ann & Nancy Wilson are core members of Heart, they are not founding members. Lead guitarist Roger Fisher and bassist Steve Fossen are Heart's founding members. They founded Heart in 1967 and hired Ann in 1970 and Ann brought in Nancy in 1974.
Thanks!
Great reaaction to the Wilson sisters, ALONE seems to have been their number one record. Please consider that. And for another 1970's artist, maybe look at Linda Rondstadt as well.
Thank you-I got unsubscribed and didn't know it😮
Back on subscription 😊
That entire band was PHENOMENAL.
Ann Wilson the greatest female rock vocalist ever
Welcome to Nancy’s “Silver Wheels” riffs
Please please please check out their performance of Alone with the Royal Philharmonic from 2016. Ann Wilson was 66 years old at the time and still sounds like she’s 30. Enough to move anyone to tears.
Excellent RockBand
Cool❤❤❤ that's a really nice song😊 more please😁😁😁
Alone is their best song for me and Barracuda they are amazing band still
Barracuda and Magic Man are my favorites. They’re high school to me when life was sweeter, simpler, and just plain fun. The old phrase “you don’t know what you got until it’s gone” applies here. Ah, if only you could have a do over. Well you can’t, but there’s always next time around. Here’s to next time around people 👍🤘🎸😁!!!!
"Barracuda" is Heart at their rockin' best!
Ann just can’t help it, comes from her soul❤ BADASS
