Love this channel. Coming from a country girl, I'm so sorry to tell you, those deer aren't going nowhere anytime soon. You have provided them with food- the garden, the big trees for shelter and now water with the pond. Wishing you luck!
I was thinking that, too. I’m sure they are there precisely since you put in so many trees and the pond. “If you build it, they will come”. And they’ll probably tell their friends.
Maybe not. Let’s hope they’re just crossing.
I have deer that come through every night. They stop at some of the fruit trees, but bypass others. They don’t bother the vegetable gardens.
I also have two ponds with waterfalls, and they have no interest in those either. They nibble on the arbs but don’t do significant damage.
It depends on their trek, and what’s available along the way.
My first thought was Laura had created the ultimate deer haven …food from the gardens, shelter from the trees, water from the pond…yep, they’ll be around for a minute😊❤
If they are there for winter grazing. Its an idea to tempt them away from the garden.
If you plant a peanut patch in the dirt lands they may be attracted away from the evergreens. :)
The deer at work eat the roses down to nothing overnight. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw them on the property
Does anyone else just love the crinkling sound the potting soil bag makes when being opened? It brings to mind all the wonderful things Laura does!
Funny you say that, I feel the same way 😂
Ok, I'm just the opposite! I have ADHD, and certain sounds bother me, but none so much as the crinkling of plastic bags like that. When I'm in the grocery store chips aisle and people pick up the bags and crinkle them, it makes me crazy and I have to leave the aisle! Isn't that strange? I figure it's just a certain kind of sensory overload. Of course, Laura is always opening those bags, so I have to just put up with it. ;-)
@@coloraturaEliseYou may have misophonia. Certain sounds can put you in fight or flight mode and it's totally different for everyone! I have it and while I actually like the crinkling bag, I can't handle other things like wet mouth noises or repetitive tapping. Making you feel crazy like you need to escape it is an understatement lol. I am also neurodivergent with more sensory sensitivity so I'm sure that doesn't help.
Have you ever considered creating your own line of pots with matching saucers? I believe you have the sight to develop a beautiful line.
YAAAASSSSS
Great comment Sonya. I have 2 tees and 1 hoodie. GA pots with glazed saucers would definitely be a hit.
No matter the damage they do, that clip of deer in the lighted landscape is magical this time of year. And the branch and berries made that arrangement just that little extra elegant!
I mean this with total respect and much appreciation ~~~ I BELIEVE LAURA COULD EVEN MAKE JUST PLAIN OLD DIRT LOOK -------> GOOD! MERRY CHRISTmas! 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
I love how you guys decorate your house, the Hartley and the property for Christmas. It’s so homey, comfortable and inviting. Thanks for teaching us so much.
The smile on your face when you could get the branches in the pots was priceless!
I love our deer, they are pretty. The fawns are too precious. Yes, they decimate everything. I have photos of them in my front flower bed right at the front door. I have wire cages around many of my plants. We can easily have 20 deer in the front yard. I hope yours only visit and do not decide to use your plantings as an all you can eat buffet!
Is it weird that I love the sound of Laura opening the bag of potting soil? It just starts getting me excited to plant!
I'm always amazed how many plants Laura can fit in a container 😆
Those pink poinsettias really do match perfectly with your chair. Love it. Love the candle center piece as well. Never would have thought to do that. What a brilliant idea 🤩!!
And the dresser illuminated some organgey peach, idk but its gorgeous with that St. Nick's jacket as well the cyclamen white and his hair.
My church Sister's came to my home yesterday and we made porch pits and centerpieces with Frazier fir, scotch pine, and twigs, sticks etc from the woods
Laura, you are a magician when it comes to fitting plants into pots. I was thinking "no way" will more plants than just the rosemary can fit but "abracadabra" you made them all fit and look beautiful.
Fun idea for containers without a saucer- find a cool plate or crystal platter at a consignment store to use as the saucer! I love doing this with terracotta pots for a fun boho look 👍
You effortlessly put the best looking arrangements together!
Maybe your dad will make another video sometime. We appreciate his perspective on gardening advice and life.
Monica and mom are always engaging especially when touring
garden center,
antiquing shopping trips, and Q&A sessions. Also enjoyed the garden projects completed for Aaron's mom, sister, sister in law, friends, and community college.
Three content cats along with cute Benjamin and Samantha amuse me.
So love how particular you are about things, but in a no stress, “we can fix it“ kind of way!
The Hartley was stunning with those lit candles at night, great arrangement, really felt like Christmas !
I just want to sit in that Hartley in the evening with a cocktail or hot cocoa. Such cozy ambience.
Love the arrangements. Great video ❤️
The deer won’t go away so I would recommend on trying to protect everything now.
Laura when you messaged Aaron on your cell phone it reminded me of my parents. Before cell phones they had a micro-com system from the kitchen to the basement. If my Mom needed something brought upstairs, she’d beep Dad on the micro-com and then upstairs he would arrive with her item. Brought back so many happy memories. ❤. Thank you
Those deer will move in once they start munching. I had to spray repellant on our shrubs right up to snowfall, and now they come to the bird feeders every night. Oh and we also have to put up 6’ tall metal fencing around our cedar hedge to keep them out of that. Our area has developed so much that we and one neighbour are the only large pieces of land left, so the deer and turkeys live in our woods and forage in the gardens. Gardening in the country is a challenge for sure! Loved the centerpieces!
Appreciate Laura's keen eye for beauty and detail and Aaron's many amazing contributions.
Keep on showing us your team efforts and glorious effects.
I love the area you put the potted arrangement in the window, especially.
You are such a great teacher Laura. Surely mom and dad had a lot to do with it. Thank God for our parents. And thank you, and Arron for being an inspiration to us all.
Beautiful arrangements. I really appreciate that you edit your videos to show that not everything works out perfectly the first time. You make your projects seem doable for the novice and it’s ok if your original idea isn’t the final look. You have inspired me to get out and garden and do a little flower arranging. 😊
Love it when she changes midstream!
Two beautiful arrangements. Aaron is so supportive. What a good guy. When Laura said, "Sometimes you want this and sometimes you want that." I could hear Black Sheep The Choice is Yours playing in my head. "You can get with this, or you can get with that." 😊How festive to see the deer ambling down the lane of lit trees. Let's hope they don't play any reindeer games in your gardens. How rewarding and convenient that you can harvest from literally your own back yard.
I think you'll get with this, for this is where it's at.
@@mrssam1775 i like what you did there.😃 GA is definitely where it's at.
I’m always amazed how many planets you put in and how great they look afterwards. Thank you for teaching us how to beautify our homes. I know my family really enjoys how far I have come and it’s because I’m learning from you guys. May the Lord bless you and Aaron for all your hard work. Know that there are folks like me praying for you guys.
Laura, there are candle holders you can get from your florist, the whole florist you went to recently, maybe even Michael's, Joanns, etc., that works really well. The bottoms fit into the soil nicely without taking up soil space, and they have lips that hold the candle securely. They come in all candle sizes.
I’m so sorry to see the deer. I’m near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and I’ve had to remove all roses, hydrangeas, hostas, tulips, crocuses, tall phlox and day lilies from my gardens. I hope the deer don’t mow down your garden like they did mine.
The candle arrangement is so lovely and peaceful. ❤️
The purple kale is beautiful!! The arrangement you made to go in the Hartley and the Christmas look BEAUTIFUL!!
When you showed the arrangement in your home all I could stare at was that antique table/buffet or whatever it is, it is gorgeous!!!
Absolutely love the candle arrangement. Looks so serene and natural, like a forest floor. Great job Laura, you’re the best.
You are my soul sister. I love all your arrangements and centerpieces . Seriously. You inspire me. I see all your image before you are done. ❤️
The Hartley looks so Romantic! 🥰 Do you and Aaron ever have a date night or cocktails out there in the evenings? I imagine there being no better place to spend time!! 💞
You look so happy sticking those branches in the pots.Gotta love when a plan comes together.
Maybe just me but I would have sprayed glitter paint on the top half of branches. Like a full moon show stopper.
Your greenhouses are so beautiful. I love houseplants but I love indoor plants too. Aren't you glad we can have plants all year round? :)
Wow! The planters became even more beautiful when placed in the spots Laura had planned for them!
Not knowing the names of tools on demand is just one more thing we can all relate to!
The deer are so pretty! My boyfriend is a hunter and he loves watching them do their thing as much as he loves the harvest. I just like to gather in the garden...we are a great hunter gatherer pair 😊. The turkeys are much more destructive in our area!
Does this talent just comes natural to you from growing up with a creative mom and so on or how does one wake up that side of creativity? I am so amazed at your work, from cooking with your home grown vegetables, baking pies, styling your home, gardening, decorating for the seasons, etc.. Simply beautiful. THANK YOU for sharing your space and talents.
A short strand of white solar lights would look so pretty in those large pots lining the driveway!
LAURA ONLY YOU CAN CREATE SUCH A MASSIVE MINI GARDEN IN A POT
I so appreciate that you did this in real time (i.e.: you didn't fake yourself putting it together after already doing it & working out the kinks before hand). It makes your vid's feel more real and authentic!
Yes!!!!!🌸
Could you do a combination video of the various planters (potted plant combinations) that you have created over the years, just compiling those old clips together that includes the names of the plants and how to care for them etc. Maybe even do 4 different video combinations for each of the 4 seasons. It’s just another way to organize some of the wonderful information you have to offer and would be a great resource and reference for people. It would give lots of ideas and inspiration for all of your fans. Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of plant knowledge and love for nature with all of us.
Good morning everyone 🌅! Gorgeous arrangements but again, I expect nothing less from you Laura! 💗✨💗 Have a blessed day ❄️🎇❄️
Laura, you outdid yourself with those arrangements. Absolutely beautiful 😍
That candle center piece really changed my perspective, I thought no way that’s going to look nice , it’s not packed full of flowers that’s your jam🥰 but boy was I wrong , that piece is gorgeous , simply stunning, calming to the eye a rest from all the colors of the holiday. Easily transferable from thanksgiving to Christmas and even new yrs with a bit of gold or silver tones. Def giving thought to changing my decorations to a more simple approach this year. My husband will thank you immensely 😍
Love the arrangements! I am sure the deer will be a permanent fixture in your area! They can be a real pain so be prepared! Laura, your hair is beautiful!
I appreciate you taking the time to film the end result with candles or lights. I liked all indoor and outdoor designs today. The berries and branches brought the candle centerpiece alive and I think the same will happen with a cluster of lights at the bottom of the willow sticks outdoors.
The deer situation will depend on the harshness of the winter and where the tastiest food sources are in your neighborhood. Deer will eat almost anything for survival in a frigid, long winter. We have deer move through our two acres, but honestly rabbits wreak the most havoc in our landscape.
I think the deer 🦌 are magical. I love watching them when they walk through my yard
Thank you for what you do! I truly deeply enjoy your channel and videos. You are a true inspiration, and because of watching you, I LOVE gardening. Thank you for bringing joy to my life and heart. Gardening has been a great way for me to unwind, take my mind off all the stress in my life, and have a hobby that brings joy to my life and my family!
I'm not usually interested in the craft-style videos but I enjoyed this and loved the finished products.
I like how you made the plant saucer match the pot more, you can also water down your paint if you don't want a full coverage. Both planters are absolutely beautiful.
Those containers are so nice. And those dogwood branches did wonders for these containers. Good job Laura.❤
I needed this, I always make plant arrangements and fresh flower arrangements at Christmas for customers. This is little business I do out of my house. Well my wholesaler is charging $4 for the poinsettias hate charged $2 for last year. So I am making white arrangements for plants. So that means my pot and other things have to be more festive. And you just gave me some fabulous ideas to use candles.
And my husband always teases me to use things already have. I have bins and bins of and decor I bought over the years.
I actually have fake poinsettias in ceramic pots that I used to put out at a neighbor's house. But over the years they look a little sad. So I took the fake poinsettias out and put them in hanging baskets I'm in zone 10... So now I'm going to head to Michael's to get some spray paint for those ceramic pots to make them festive to put the white plants in with some candles!!!
In regards to giving the saucer patina... using a baby wipe works really well to apply a small amount of paint. More like a "wash". Also, maybe adding a little black would work along with the white. (So I wrote that comment before I watched the whole video...) The arrangements turned out so beautiful. I love Irish moss so much!
Merry Christmas! Did you ever tell us how hosting Thanksgiving went? And was Aaron’s turkey a win?😎
Yes, we want to know!
My deer visitors love my Red Twig Dogwood bushes. I never need to trim them. Of course, the bushes never grow tall enough to block the view of my neighbor's yard.
So good emotional about what you are doing that all I want to add is a real record player in the hartley and a few classic christmas records for this time of year and then jazz records for the rest of the year. Then the hartley atmosphere is complete. I like the real thing too, like the real candles and a real record player would be fantastic. I am so glad you stated the reminder about watering needs of the cyclamen, rosemary and silver plant, as being indoor winter plants are very different requirements than outdoor summer plants. And that when you opened the soil bag that you tore it from the top. So many customers grab the bag from the pile on the pallet from the top edge and then it rips open and spills all over the place, the bags are designed to open from the seam as part of tradition for big feed bags. When moving bags of soil, grab them from the body to keep them intact. THANK YOU!!!!!
The arrangements are absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for the Hartley and inside the house. Once again your spot on creativity shines through! Such an inspiration for us all. How great is it that the pots still look fantastic and the winter branches are free!
I have never seen poinsettias in such tiny pots! I'm in love ❤️ Your centerpieces are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, Anne
It’s weird, I’ve not seen them either till today at the grocery store I went to this morning & they had a bunch! Wish now I would’ve grab a couple 😊
I’ve also had about about 15 deer at one time in my back yard. They go for the fruit as well as my grass. Watch it. They are beautiful. I’ve caught the most majestic photos of them
We need a Christmas house tour! Love your decor and style. Plus we can see where you have put all your shopping finds from throughout the year.
My Mom would call the deer “Goats”! who traversed her garden on a Golf course Fairway where no fencing was allowed! They are so beautiful and hearts go out when they have to forage in snowy climates!
The arrangements are beautiful! As for the deer…they’re hanging around waiting for Santa to come get them for their CHRISTmas Eve journey.
Ha ha ha. This is funny
The planters look beautiful where you put them. You have such a good eye for decorating. Love the sticks in the driveway pots. I remember when you first got the pots, they have served you well!
Laura, I want to thank you for all the videos you provided us thru the years. They were all helpful in our garden and home. Love your latest video in the arrangement of 2 holiday centerpieces. They were not only beautiful but so easy to put together and yet, the designs were simple and elegant for the holidays. You are so talented and creative in seeing what works and what not. I can’t wait to try those arrangements soon. Your house, your garden and your children are so beautiful. Happy Holidays & Happy, Healthy 2024! I look forward to all your new videos next year. I truly learned so much from you.
I hear you Laura…..Make Saucers to Match Pots! Love the candle and natural elements you used. Both are perfect in their areas.
You’re helping our creative juices flow! Going to try my hand at cutting some magnolia limbs, cedar and pine and make some outdoor arrangements. Thank you as always for sharing yourself with us. ❤
I love the soft colors of the three poinsettias in the first container. Both centerpieces are beautiful as usual😊
Where the pot is much darker to begin with, you may want to wet the saucer and "whitewash" with a dark gray or black first. By wetting the saucer, the water disperses the paint without the surface looking painted. As always you provide so much inspiration!
The sunroom looked so nice during the day but beautiful at night .
I'm now a kale-in-the-landscape convert, absolutely beautiful. Love the winter arrangements and love your channel. Thanks for all you guys do 😊
Me too... as soon as I saw this and before end of video I'd ordered some for my next to the door planter...lol.. :)
Deer are gorgeous and they need to live and eat too. Bless them
Wow! Love both arrangements so much! Beautiful job as always!
The arrangements look great. The one with candles could be transformed to a spring look if you can find some small growing bulbs, like Crocus or dwarf iris to plant.
Always love to watch your videos first thing in the morning with my coffee and all the other GA friends. Question; have you ever propagated Irish moss ? It's sooo easy , you will always have some on hand , no need to keep buying it !
Loving your less is best simplicity in your arrangements this year! Nice mixing it up on us! ✌🏻🙏🏼❤️
Beautiful arrangements especially with the candles lit and Christmas lights shining through the Hartley. A great holiday vibe.
So so pretty! Every time u touched a plant I said, "yes"
I would protect trucks of new trees in case those deer run out of fruit. I'm biased as a gardener who deals with massive deer and rabbit pressure. Love your content.
😂 That hand coming into frame with the pruners like SCALPEL!
I love how you guys decorate your house, the Hartley and the property for Christmas,🎄
Very nice work Laura! And by the way, I STILL have chair envy over those gorgeous Bergeres you acquired long ago on your antique shopping trip with your mom!!
So I watched your deer footage on Instagram. I counted about 12 when I realized the video was auto-replaying over and over!!! I'm glad it was only 4. I was thinking.....OMG, Laura and Aaron!
When I worked @ Fresh Cut Romance in Phx. Doing floral we would wet sponge the pots with spray paint and just wipe it so it streaked and made them look weathered!
Ooh a little lighting on those branches would be MAGICAL
You definitely have a real gift making arrangements of all kinds💝
I love the tiny poinsettias! I have never seen any like those! Georgous
Wish we were having the weather that you are!!!❤❤
HaHa! I knew you couldn’t just put one poinsettia in the planter….love both of them!
Loving the pots and the deer , just a beautiful video
You could always try using the floral putty that you used to secure floral frogs to the bottom of a vase!
You’re so creative Laura. And the purple kale by the Hartley is😍. Yes be diligent where deer are concerned, they are beautiful but quick to destroy. Bucks will strip young trees by rubbing in winter and the rest are so hungry it’s all up for grabs once they’ve found a source. Try sprinkling Milorganite at the front of your gate every few days. They smell human and might by pass that entrance. It has slowed them down on our acreage but nothing is 💯 % foolproof.
Good idea!
Everything turned out beautifully! By the way don’t worry about the deer, 🦌I’m pretty sure they are Santa’s deer. The other four were probably somewhere close by. They will be gone after Christmas! 🤣🥰❤️
New Gardner in Ohio: I have never seen the small poinsettias, they are so cute. Both center pieces turned out so nice.
We have woods and farms around us, and the deer come through but never cause any damage, we look forward to seeing them. Hopefully, yours will continue to do the same. The arrangements look lovely. ❤
Instead of a strand of lights in each pot you could do those little individual solar lights that you use to light up a sidewalk. I used a few of them in each flower arrangement I made for my parent’s headstone and it worked perfectly.
Beautiful arrangements, I knew you would add the three flowers in the first arrangement. Perfect
You could also put some little fairy lights in your arrangements!!
I am amazed at how much energy you have and can accomplish in a day! I long for when I was younger! Your property is spectacular ❤ Happy Holidays! ~ lori
The potted arrangement is perfect for that corner! I wonder if a short string of fairy lights on the tree would add a touch of sparkle?
Have you considered getting a round placement to put underneath the planter on the table in the Heartly? You could also get a piece of felt in the craft section of a store and cut it to size. It would also protect your tables from being scratched by the plant saucers.
The hawthorn berries were the perfect addition. I was muttering "a touch of red" as you were putting that centerpiece together. 😍
