Well said. This channel is what starts my day. It may sound silly but for some reason, somehow Laura reminds me of the way I was raised, patience, love and understanding of childhood freedom to grow. I just love this family as if it were my family.
I didn't grow up with good parents. But I watch this to see how real families interact with each other. One day I hope I will hv this with my husbands family

The tree is beautiful. Love the icicles. I sure do miss the decorating time spent with my kids when they were little. You're such a great mom. Benjamin and Samantha will always remember the times spent decorating with you and how you made the season magical for them. They are adorable.
I would give everything to have one day back when my kids were that age 🥹 I have 3 teenagers now, and I also love this stage where they are coming into adulthood, but man I miss those pure joyous Christmases❤ (I think I will really love the grandparent stage soon).
Just seeing the wee ones playing happily and creatively in the sand was pure joy. Then, when they joined you to help decorate the tree just melted my heart. Thank you so much for sharing these moments with us.

I absolutely love that you involve Benjamin and Samantha in projects! It is so important for them to be a part of everything! And you leave their choices as they hang them, hard to do for me when I’m a little ocd! What strikes me most about the Hartley tree is the balance of the orange slices and the soft butterflies! They just soften all the glitz from the other ornaments.
Love the tree. I love how thoughtful Benjamin is when placing ornaments. He wants to find the perfect spot.
We have been collecting bird ornaments for our tree for most of our married life (40 years this year- wow!) I give one to my husband in his stocking and he gives one to me. We have very few actual duplicates! There are many that are the same species, though. They can be made of anything. The only loose rule is that they must be birds we see in our yard. Yours are lovely.
Love, love, love the Hartley tree🎄. Having the kids help decorate the tree is just the most Christmas thing to me. When we were kids we just loved decorating the tree together. What a great little helper Benjamin was. The kitchen window looks beautiful as well. So much fun doing all the little projects “Tis the season”

I havent put a tree in 7+ years because I chose cats and sanity instead. So this year I put in a small pink one in my art studio and i was really going for an aesthetic, but felt like something was missing. Enter Laura with all her incredible inspiration and now I'm off to the dollar store to add some sparkly snowflakes to my cute lil tree!

It is wonderful how the kids can entertain themselves with what they find around the gardens. The ‘sandbox’ was a great hit. Thanks for sharing the gingerbread tine with us. The Hartley tree holds its own with all the outdoor lights!
We traditionally make a gingerbread village every year (the landscaping to me is the really fun part) and as the older kids entered college we made it part of our Christmas Eve... always a table set up with candy and pre-made houses of various shapes. All my four and whatever friends usually accompanied them home from college got very into it and we've been doing it now for maybe 30 years. No matter what age, it's fun to see them eating candy and helping each other with ideas.
This year I was feeling cheap and thought maybe I'd put that money/effort to something new, but I realized that you just can't break these traditions so easily. Watching Laura's fam now affirms I need to get to work on the gingerbread! Can't disappoint....

Laura, I loved that you added butterflies, birds and icycles to that Christmas tree, I usually use them on my trees too, bring me so much memories, one winter afternoon when I was a teenager I found a monarch butterfly 🦋almost frozen outside from the cold, and placed it on one of the branches of our Christmas Tree near a small incandescent bulb to stay warm, the next day it was still on the same branch near the bulb but was already flapping its wings and when the sun came out I released it to continue its journey towards the south; also, yars before, my mom used to collect butterfly cocoons from a laurel plant that we had in our fron yard to protect them from the birds, she, my siblings and I took care of them and when the butterflies came out we put them on the living room curtains while they spread their wings, was magical to see those beautiful and delicate creatures, we fed them with sugar water and then we released them when the day was warm enough. It also reminds me of the injured birds 🐦 that I have cared for with my parents since I was a child, from a little owl to some pigeons, such beatiful memories. 💖Big hugs from Sonora, Mexico.

So nice that you let the kids help decorate! It really builds their confidence and decision making skills. My mom always wants the tree to look a certain way. I still second guess myself in my 50s lol. I love bird ornaments also 🕊️. 😊

I love the dried orange slices! They look like stained glass. And really make the tree "pop". The birds, butterflies are so quaint. And all the sparkle makes it grand. Have a little hack for you for installing your garland. Take a tension rod wrap it with the garland , it will reach from one side to the other, hold everything in place and no nails or hooks required 😊

We have big huge windows all along the north side of our house. One year we put birds on the tree. Such a sad bird graveyard when we got home from work. We counted three big cardinals and a few blue jays. So we had to put whirlybirds in front of the windows to keep them away. Broke my heart.

Good Job on not moving things B-man places. Both me and my brother didn't want to help my mom (when we were older) decorate the tree because she just moved things where she wanted them. She did it when we were far too old to be doing it but still.
