JUST MY OPINION BUT I liked the artemisia in the front, it may have blended in with the container but I think that it made the other plants pop. AGAIN. Just my opinion. 🌺💚🙃
Hi Laura, On a very hot day or a very cold day, would you consider showing us your favourite garden books - which ones are informative, which ones have beautiful illustrations, which ones make good coffee table books, best for children, best for beginners and so on? Maybe this is something you and your mum can do together? Thank you for reading this.
I was going to make the same request but also include your mom's favorite books. I have been reading the Beverley Nichols books which was mentioned by your mom and love them.
@gardenanswer: Oh, what a spectaacular idea! Just so! Another Laura and Mom (Sue, right?) sharing books like this would be a much watched and rewatched episode. ❤
I can so relate to Bethany not letting a plant die. I only give up until it's totally brown. God bless her. Pots are awesome as always. It amazes me how many plants she shoves i a pot!
Boy, that Bethany is terrific! She spends time at Laura’s plus handles her own chores, and still has time to refurbish hand me downs. Oh, to be young again. I miss it a lot. Even tho old age is a time of rest and reflection I would do it all again.
Just a thought; I would like to see some of Bethany's rescues, if she would like to share sometime. I liked seeing how you set up the table from your recent antiquing trip. I also liked the Artemisia next to the purple Ninebark so much that I didn't notice the container. Thank you for sharing your garden adventures.
Containers in July, what fun! This is the FIRST time I've ever second guessed you on a container combination, but I'd have put 1 wire vine in front and 2 artemesia toward the back (where the other 2 wire vine went). The silver would have given beautiful contrast with the shakes and made the ninebark pop.
What a treat! I logged on to UA-cam and there you were. I love being a member so I get my videos a day early. And please don't feel like you have to do so much in the heat! We are hunkered down in the house to escape the heat and wow, it's hard to do anything!!!
I know you are private about your house but I would love a tour of the garden from what you see out the window. What part of your garden do you see from the spaces you enjoy inside? And bonus is you don’t have to go outside to film it!
She's mentioned before that she wouldn't allow any type of a garden walk. She said that the only thing that she would allow is for Benjamin and Samantha to get married there
i was also thinking i wonder what her favourite window view is! I love seeing gardens from those different angles. right now my favourite view of my garden is from my kitchen window 🥰
I am so glad you are taking it easy during this hot days! You got to protect yourself! All the plants are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your family and life with us! Hugs and love 💖🤗 Have a blessed day! 🌸💞🌼🪴
Yes, I would agree. The Artemisia looked best in those pots! Also, I took a water fountain that can't have water in my yard because the dogs get giardia from it, and it had a chip. I glued it in and stained the concrete. Now i got the sealer and I'm going to put some plants in it! Call me a garden hoarder, but I couldn't bear to throw it out! I'm hoping it looks beautiful when I'm finished! Thank you for the idea! ❤
Laura, try a clock in your cloche. We have had one for 30+ years. Bet you could find one when you’re antiquing. I love that all I need to do is dust the dome once a week with a duster and once a month I use a glass cleaner to clean it.
I assume the small stones top dressing is just for looks?? I have never done that but it’s OK, I guess :-)) I like the idea of a lil bird’s nest or some kind of decorative figurine too….
Laura the ferns look amazing in those pots and thanks so much for the tip about the felt dots on the bottom of the saucers. Also, that beautiful marble top table looks perfect in that space.
Hi Laura, we all love the beautiful gardens editions … you could do those in the heat and stay cool ..just a thought We will watch and love all you do no matter … hang in there with the temps ! ❤
Laura thanks for potting your house plants in front of us, the stone is so pretty as a finished look. The tip of the burlap or coffee filter in the bottom is great! God bless you and your helping us so willingly.☺️💖
First pot - wirevine looks lovely! I had to replace my window screens at home, so bought a bigger roll of the screening. I am using the off cut bits trimmed to fit the bottom of the pot to block the holes. Lets water through easily, and roots, but doesn't snag them like things I've used in the past. Plus I can reuse them if need be.
I would have made such a mess fitting all those plants in one container. You make it look so easy. You take it easy in the heat, keep filling us with short, little projects. We love those also! Anything you do, we love.
Hey Laura good morning. Love the pots you planted. All those established ponds you showed us were beautiful I know your brain was so busy with ideas you could do with your pond area. When your pond is all grown in it’s going to be just as beautiful.
Not only the extreme heat, but you guys have fires closer to you this year, closer than I have ever seen. I’m fairly confident the surrounding irrigated farmland will be a buffer even if the fires get even closer, but hoping for some cooler weather for you and even some rain!! Be safe 🙏💚💚💚
I agree the first one you repotted is a Hart's Tongue Fern. The second is a veriety of Pteris (sounds like terrace) Fern. And the big one might be a type of tree fern.
Great projects today and so glad to hear you can stay out of the heat in the afternoons! I must say, I find I might still be hesitant to put clay or terra cotta on a surface I really love😳!! The marble top seems to be a great option and book risers are a wonderful idea!!
Wow, the vignette with the plants is so pretty! I have several of the battery-operated candles and I really love them. They come on and go off automatically in about 5 hours at whatever time you choose, so you never need to touch them except to change the battery, I think one of those would look beautiful under the cloche.
Thanks for carrying on for us in the heat Laura - We really appreciate it! I almost never disagree with your design choices but I would have voted for the artemesia 😉 I don't think the wire vine shows up but we all get to choose which is whats great about gardening!
That was my job as a kid. I mixed up a pitcher of water with fertilizer, and watered away. I quickly learned to wipe up the water on the floor when I watered too much! 😄
Loved the plant selection in the pots outside greenhouse! Ferns look beautiful on your new table from antiquing!! Love that table (and candy dish also perfect there)!!! ❤❤❤
Just so beautiful you newly planted containers with beautiful plants your the queen of arrangements Laura both with flowers and plants inside and out..
Hello from Nebraska Laura ! Having same heat wave with very high humidity here also. You are so blessed to have it get as cool as it gets at night it stays in upper 60s to mid 70s and humid at nite. So that means out very early in the morning. It’s still better than below o snd blowing snow. Enjoy all your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Those pots in front of your greenhouse turned out great! The wire vine has been a treat in containers this year!! Don’t you think it’s just a nice little touch of whimsy in each project? ❤
I agree! The ones here have a very small inventory and only open maybe 2 months of year .... not very helpful for those of us who want year-round selections and not just annuals....
Some of favourite videos you do are of house plants. They always look so fresh. I’m with you though. I’m not very good at remembering to water my houseplants … but for me, it’s all year round! 😂
I really feel inspired to try new and different things in pots. The nine bark is beautiful with the cone flowers. Sounds like a trip to the nursery is in my future.
I love the pots and the house plants. What a great arrangement. I put a “houseplant” alert on my phone so I remember to water my houseplants. It’s so easy to forget and all of a sudden they’re dying. ❤
Hi Guys. So beautiful Laura. I purchased 2 of the Coral Coneflower plants this year at a local grower. I have decided to rotate from anuals at our family cemetery plots to perenials next year. So the 2 Cones are being held over happily with my Limelights hydrangeas from PW. Thank you for doing this. I'm in 5b, now 6b. NY state. Like you I am sticking with 5b 2 years ago we had snow on June 4th. So thanks again!
Your outdoor pots look very nice! The placement of your ferns on the tables look beautiful. I have a glass dome that I glued a pretty drawer pull on (use appropriate glue). This allows you to lift it up easily.
Hi Laura - your show has changed my life and my yard. Thank you for all the inspiration and knowledge. I have one small suggestion - could you plant up that houseplant behind you in the studio with the white plastic pot. All of your videos are amazing but for some reason I always focus on that white plastic pot over your left shoulder. You are a true inspiration for me. Thank you!!!
Isn’t it a Birds Nest Fern? I need a dose of your show daily. Makes my day. 😘
Thought so too. that's fern #1.
JUST MY OPINION BUT I liked the artemisia in the front, it may have blended in with the container but I think that it made the other plants pop. AGAIN. Just my opinion. 🌺💚🙃
Agree. It looked better than the wire vine by far.
I thought the same.
AGREE
It needs the substantial texture of the Artemisia
Agree.

Put a battery-operated candle under the dome. Set the timer and forget it. It will add a soft glow.
The ferns are gorgeous!
Oooo… good idea!!! Thanks!
Great idea!
so clever!
You are a magician getting more big plants in a pot than anyone!
What is the purpose of the stones? They look pretty but what's their function?
I was thinking that too!

God bless Bethany. She’s always trying to rescue your plants. I’m the same way. You ought to have a show on all the Laura plants she’s rescued 👍🙋🏻👒
Boy, that Bethany is terrific! She spends time at Laura’s plus handles her own chores, and still has time to refurbish hand me downs. Oh, to be young again. I miss it a lot. Even tho old age is a time of rest and reflection I would do it all again.

Love that table you just picked up when antiquing with your mom and Monica. Plants look great
Why is it so satisfying to watch Laura water plants? Love it. 😂
Oh, how sweet to hear the dove cooing in the background as you work! Perfection! 🥰
I too have noticed the cooing of the dove in the background....quite soothing, isn't it!
One of my favorite sounds!

oh the temptation of watching my morning video now instead of with my coffee before I start my work day....🥰🌼🌻🌺
A fun day, Laura - thanks for taking us along! ❤ xo
Good to see you back home from Chicago. Love the ferns. Your home is so elegantly decorated.
I would love to see Bethany's garden with her plants😊
Do a small pedestal with a little birds nest with a fake bird, or a ceramic bird. All of the pots are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I have a real birds nest in mine with fake eggs. 😊

As you were repotting the ferns my husband says- “What, no Biotone?!” 😂😱😂
Not for indoor plants - she will use liquid fertilizer when watering.
I usually water until it flows out the bottom. Pour off the saucer when I see they are wet all the way to the bottom.
It smells too bad for indoors😅
