I always crochet or knit my strawberries but now I am learning to sew and this is going to be my first project. I love strawberries. Thanks for the video
These strawberry pincushions look more like real strawberries than any I have seen. They will make wonderful gifts as well, or look so pretty holding my pins in my sewing room. Thank you for another fabulous project.
Thank you so much!!! I made this scrumptious strawberry and it is as delicious as it looks! It is perfect as a decoration, gift, pin cushion or for anything! You are the best :) :) :)
You are an awesome teacher! You explain things so well, so easy to understand. I don't really know how to sew, I can barely turn my machine on! I've made 24 strawberries so far with no problem! I used velvet. I also made them scented. I love them! Thank you so much! Oh, and your voice is lovely! :)
Awesome :) enjoyed this tutorial very much... I have been needing a new pin cushion what better than to make my own :) thank you again for sharing your wonderful talents with us. I always look forward to watching your tutorials you make them so easy to follow and understand....
I am sew glad that i found u on u-tube, i just love u too, u r sew much fun to watch and i am going to make those pin cushion and pass them out to my sew and quilting friends and tell them about u on the u-tube, ps, i'm really going to make the big one for me lol, GOD Bless u.
Delightful !! ...and as you say, "Delicious"! Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea. I'm thinking these would make cute little gifts for the craft-y girls in my "sewing circle".
The filling I have used is synthetic (polyester) and filled fairly firmly if you want to use it for a pin cushion. You can usually buy something like PolyFill at sewing/craft stores, or use left over batting scraps teased out to be soft and fluffy.
Lovely video! You've inspired me to make these as bag charms :) I love the idea of adding seed beads to them, did you add them prior to sewing the strawberry? I'm going to assume yes as that would be so much easier than adding them afterwards ;) But I would for sure watch a video of you making one :)
Hi, thanks for watching. The seed beads can be sewn on first although you would need to be careful about where they are placed if you are using a sewing machine. However, if you are sewing entirely by hand then there is no problem with the beads going on first. The other aspect you might want to consider is whether they might look good with a small "dimple" where the bead is - for this you would need to sew the beads after the strawberry is stuffed.
@@GourmetQuilter Ahhh so true about the seed dimple! That would ascetically look much better! A great video idea is showing us how you add beads after the strawberry is made :)
I plan on making some of these for little gifts for some sewing friends and instead of doing them with spotting on planning on using gravel that you would put in the bottom of an aquarium that way when you put your needles or your pins in it would sharpen the PIN. What is your opinion of this idea?
That is a huge strawberry. Something I would do. I have huge pin cushion I made where I attached it to a ceramic bowl. It looks kinda like a cupcake. I use it every day.
I love this video. I'm going to make several for gifts. We do theme trees at the holiday, it is just us two. I'll do for the"sweets tree" and make a dozen or more to go other decorations. Do you have little fish pattern I make a fishing tree for the hubby so he doesn't feel left out?
Really professionally delivered tutorial. This is the real deal, now go and buy yourself a new camera that doesn't sound like someone's fly fishing in the background!
Sonia Guzman I stuffed mine with bird gravel, u can get anywhere...its very clean...and works excellent! (Parakeet gravel). after leaving your opening on your pincushion....just make a small funnel.out of paper, and pour gravel in it...little at a time, don't want to plug it up! Fun,clean...and easy!
From a nosy watcher: your lovely wedding band appears more snug than is safe. If you happen to experience an injury to that finger, hand, arm, the swelling may require an emergency room visit. When they cut the ring off, one method, the cut is not as neat and mindful of the gold as a jeweler would be. You should consider having it removed and resized. You might remove it with soap and cold water, Not hot water, at home. I will copy your pin cushion pattern, very pretty.
yes, I used to work in surgery as OR tech, and we had to replace a worker's ring finger that when he fell from a telephone pole and got his ring caught and it tore his finger off....most men who work outside do not wear rings because of that.
I thought that a strawberry pincushion was supposed to be full of something that would keep needles and pins sharp. Is your wedding ring a little uncomfortable? It looks like it’s cutting into your skin.

How adorable! Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
The plate of strawberries is a great idea, especially if you have different types of pins that you want to keep separate...

That is really cute but I have heard that fiber fill isn't good for needle points. I wonder what else we can use to fill those berries with?

I fill mine with sand too keep my needles sharp

Laura Cullen Completely agreed with you. I loved the tutorial, but worried about the too tight wedding ring!
