I'm gradually watching all the tutorials and taking it all in so I don't make too many uses of my quick unpick!!! Good videos, full of brilliant information for someone who hasn't sewn in 35 years, slow sewing going on here!
I watched this video last night twice and again this morning multiple times then gave it a go watching the video and pausing as and when needed .... I now have 3 awesome pillows and one pin cushion :D ! Thank you Debbie :)
Hi Debbie, thanks for showing this wonderful pillow pattern. I will be making a couple of these this year. They are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Cheryl from Missouri USA
So cute and interesting...I LOVE "quirky" :-) Boggles the mind to imagine the process by which somebody invented this design!!! LOL I would be interested in seeing "traditional cross stitched pin cushion" done up as well.
Thanks Debbie.... That looks so easy to make, I'm going to give it a go. I watch you on Create and Craft, and have been following you on hear... You are an inspiration. I didn't do any sewing until I started watching your demos.... Thanks again
Excellent Deb. I think i am going to do some embroidered squares and turn them into cushions, and charge an arm and a leg for them lol.. Joke!. Awesome demo as usual... more please!! love Lisa xxxxxx
WOW Debs, you always amaze me at just how easy you make things look, I am definitely not at this level as im only just starting out with machine stitching, but I will definitely give this cushion a try when I feel ready, I love it hugs, Vick xxx
Have made the smaller cushion & really like it. Would like to make the bigger one too - will you be doing instructions for the larger one at some stage?
Love it! I have been stalling with 1-1/2 yards of designer fabric and two 20 inch square pillows - looking for just the right idea for pillows for a gift. I just finished my third project from you and this will be my fourth! Debbie, I owe you some photos!.
+debbie shore I went ahead and made a pin cushion prototype first to test my thread tension, etc. The best thing about picking up sewing again after a few decades is actually being in love with the fabrics. There is a Mom and Pop specialty shoppe in (of all places) a flea market down the road. Their fabrics easily blow away JoAnn's Fabrics. I get so excited seeing and touching their lush, delicious fabrics.
+Denise Douglass I love to savor my projects and I do projects with sewing, house décor, acrylic nails and cooking and gardening in season. My prototype came out just a bit off. I think I started about 1/4 inch off. My beautiful fabric was off grain at purchase and further off grain as I had hand washed it and hung it by the corners on the line to dry, on a very windy day not thinking how much the wind would distort it's shape. Next I starched, ironed and cut and again ironed and cut my fabric. I decided to stabilize the 20" edges (x 4 per cut x 4 pieces for two solid pillows) with 1-inch strips of Pellon SF101 SHAPE FLEX All Purpose Woven Fusible Interfacing. Being a beginner and wanting excellent results, I am also marking my 1/4 inch seam allowance with blue chalk, as well as using a quilting/measuring foot. (I am still learning to sew a straight line.) I am going with a 12/80 needle and polyester thread. I am thankful for this great idea and will share more as I progress.
Hi Debs lovely cushion can you please do a vide version with the four fabrics, just cannot get it just right. made a plain one today thanks for some great videos and helping people like me new to sewing.
We made these at a quilt retreat only bigger.Mine I use when doing hand stitching to rest my wrists on it.Mine is stuffed very firm with no button. When working on hexies I can pin them to the pillow to keep them in line of which to sew next. 16 or 18 inch squares.
The mustard colour is Tilda and the p[ink was really old from my stash, the thimblelane web site still has some lovely colours or e bay is always an option!
My wife adores you and always watches your videos and when you are on Ideal World. She also loves your blouse and would love to know where you purchased it from.
Oh, you also put a button on the bottom of the cushion. It magically appeared without having made mention. That's the part I would have difficulty with.
That is a really nice cushion, but putting a button in the middle can be uncomfortable to say the least if you want to sit on it. I think I would like to put pompom in the centre.
Debbie, thank you so much for sharing us this great video to make a cushion. I will try it today. I have a question: what means the word "biscornu". ? I don't know this word. Hugs Beate
Cut each piece of fabric into four, then re-join them so you have two of each fabric in the new square, like a battenburg cake, then twist and sew back together. I'll try and make another video!
ok Debbie,,,,trying to make this pillow out of felt squares. My sewing machine is very old, my fil's..lol....when i try to sew the thread underneath bunches and therefore not staying together. How can I correct this ?? Thank you, i've watched sooo many of your videos for sewing. :)
If the thread bunches underneath there's a problem with the tension on top of your machine, try re-threading, when you thread the actual needle put the foot down and the tensions should engage. Hopefully that will work!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been wanting to try this out for a while but didn't know how. After watching your video yesterday I made a little pin cushion with two 4 patch blocks as my 2 squares. There is a picture in my Flickr here: flickr.com/photos/biscuitnrabbi/10420322194/ Thank you again!

Such an adorable girlie pillow, my granddaughters will love them.
Debbie, this is the lovelies pillow I have seen in a while. I must make one for my bed! Thank you so much for sharing.
A tip: you can watch series on flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Jayceon Judson Yup, been using flixzone for since december myself =)
What a fun shape. I'm making pincusions for friends and that would be much cuter than the diy pincushions I've seen. Thanks for sharing.
I watched this video last night twice and again this morning multiple times then gave it a go watching the video and pausing as and when needed .... I now have 3 awesome pillows and one pin cushion :D ! Thank you Debbie :)
+Angel27918 Glad to be of help!

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but yes, stop a quarter of an inch from each corner to keep the seam allowance uniform. Hope that helps!

What a sweet little pillow or cushion! Love the corners!
Great idea! I've always just thought of them as pincushions, never occurred to me to make them bigger size. Thank you. :))
Thanks Debbie.... That looks so easy to make, I'm going to give it a go. I watch you on Create and Craft, and have been following you on hear... You are an inspiration. I didn't do any sewing until I started watching your demos.... Thanks again

The first thing i made was a pin cushion sample, i still use it now.
I made my first biscorn. It is red with black pokedots.
The mustard colour is Tilda and the p[ink was really old from my stash, the thimblelane web site still has some lovely colours or e bay is always an option!

Pia Rebentisch Vielen, vielen Dank für Ihren Kommentar, ich bin froh, Sie können die Technik, wenn nbot der Sprache zu verstehen!
That's lovely! What size squares to did you cut to make the larger cushion? Thank you.
it's very nice
Adorei essa aula, obrigada.
Muito bom! Não falo seu idioma mas você se deu a entender muito bem, aprendi, muito obrigada!

Pom poms a good idea, but I think this type of cushion if for decoration, it would be a shame to squash it!
lovely ,thanks
That was just from Next... and thank you!
Grazie e una buona idea thank........
Can you please sew a wide brim sun hat. Greetings from Guyana
Hi Debbie,
could you do a quick demo on how to make the 4 sided cushion, Please.
You could probably make a bigger cushion by just using larger squares? Right?
Debbie, thank you so much for sharing us this great video to make a cushion. I will try it today. I have a question: what means the word "biscornu". ? I don't know this word.
Hugs
Beate
Have you got a video on adding different pattens on..
muy buena idea
Cute
super - off to make one :-)
Just a guess, but for the four squares cushion version do you sew four corners on each pair and then join????
Cut each piece of fabric into four, then re-join them so you have two of each fabric in the new square, like a battenburg cake, then twist and sew back together. I'll try and make another video!
debbie shore Thank you, I really love the shape of the cushion and thanks for sharing it...
ca wayas una buensonita fodder brlliante!!!
I could not see very well, did u stop a quarter of an inch at each corner?

It's French for 'quirky'.
why size were the squares in the first cushion you showed in the video. Thank you.
sweet
🥰
Where do you buy tot fabric?
its a good place for cats or little dogs i think hhhh 😘
Mine certainly think so!
Could you do this by hand if you don't have a sewing machine?
xx courtr5877 You could, use tiny stitches to make the seams strong. It may take you a while though!
xx courtr5877 I would do a back stitch if stitching by hand.
One year ago I did all by hand stich. It came very nice.
Guess what? I have made a second biscornu. It ;looks are a very large pin cushion.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been wanting to try this out for a while but didn't know how.
