.this is just so cute:) When I was a little girl eons ago, my parents gave me a sewing box, with needles, thread, scissors, fancy work and embroidery threads. I was in 7th heaven! AND the box had a little chicken painted on the top of it! This tutorial brought back many memories:) Thanks so much. Your tuts are just the best..and entertaining as well:)
Thank you Jenny. Have had some devasting news during the last week about my Husband's health. We have been stunned by the news. Your tutorial just cheered me up a little. Pat from UK.
Well, that's it. I just heard that beautiful voice ... you soprano, you! People love to be entertained & waiting for tid-bits at the end of videos is the cat's MEOW!!! Gorgeous voice. Thanks Jenny, for sharing yourself with the world. AND thanks for teaching to quilt.
I spend too much time online learning sewing techniques and someone suggested your tutorials in a facebook group this evening... I came on over and have watched several before this one. now, I take classes on craftsy, watch UA-cam too often, and much time in various facebook groups- in two years this tutorial right here is by far the most entertaining thing I've watched sewing related! you're so...real and hilarious...I could watch your videos for hours and learn tons while actually being entertained. I sorta use craftsy to go to sleep every night *yawn*- this is gold! enjoyed your ironing board video too. don't stop.
That is so fun! I love it when you throw in a craft project once in a while. I imagine you'll be doing more of these as we get closer to the holidays! Thanks, Jenny!
I just made one of these adorable cushions with the first 2 squares I ever made while learning the log cabin quilt......Now it sits beside the machine and i can remember back to my very first quilt.....
OMG Jenny!!! I love the little song at the end followed by the "are ya ready?" in your normal voice LOL.....reminds me of myself when I'm home alone talking to myself while cleaning because I randomly start singing a sentence in falsetto like at an Opera LOVE IT!!!
i am making these for my 3 girls and several for myself.. keep up the good work,i have made several quilts after watching your tutorials.. made jacobs ladder for our preacher and his wife when they retired..
I made my chickens as a family (big, medium, small, tiny) for my grandchild. And she loved playing with them. For sewing friends, I made chickens pincushion with fabric that was their theme. For example: black, red, and white for one friend; for another friend who likes to travel used map fabric, etc,
I saw you pop that pin in your mouth. My mother did that all the time and fussed at me not too! Love this tutorial. So much fun thank you for making sewing fun again.
I've recently gotten "Hooked on Jenny!" I've done the zipper pouches and now I'm on to chicken pin cushions! Love all the quick, easy, fun ideas. Maybe I'll get brave and try some of the tougher ones! Thanks so much!
You just make me smile every time I watch you. These are fun to make and I have friends that sew so will be making them ones as gifts.. Thank you Jenny !!!!!
i Jenny and Co. I am finally throwing away my first chicken pincushion from this tutorial.. OMG I have enjoyed that baby until some of my pins were rusting. Yes they rusted. darn it all. Sew, no problem, I have my book and this to remake a cuter one. I also, re-marked new quilting pins with letters and #'s, as this is what I have my rows and column marking pins in. I'll just thank you again. Hope you are doing well in your mission, stay safe and may God Bless you all.
I always wanted to know how to quilt. I took a night class in high school but wasn't able to finish the class. I looked at some books but didn't feel like I was getting an understanding. When my kids were in grade school I was in the room while they were watching PBS and your show came on. For the first time in my life I felt like "Wow, this lady makes it look so easy to piece together a quilt. I tried to tape all your shows but was unsuccessful. I was so happy to find you on you-tube. I ask my husband if he would buy me a new sewing machine and he did. He didn't want me to buy new material just yet. So my plan is to ask him if I can get a gift cert. for my birthday. I well send you a picture of my first quit. I want to go to your store in Missouri so I can meet you in person. You are a very good instructor. I just love you. You're down to earth and I like that. Oh, and bty these pincushions are very nice, I'm going to make me one.
So excited to find this tutorial! Just bought one of these at a shop in Jacksonport, WI, and wanted to come home (to Atlanta) and make one. Thank you Jenny for making it so easy! Also, visited a quilt shop in Sturgeon Bay, WI, and the owner was talking about watching your video for making the disappearing pinwheel. You are popular everywhere!
I just want every one to know how great Missouri Star Quilt Co. is. I ordered items on April 16th. I received them on April 17th. How fast was that, I have never received anything I have purchased that fast. Thank You, Kayli, & Erica Good Job. Sharon
Quilters tutorials always scared me it all sounded so technical and complicated, but I just love your relaxed friendly and humorous attitude. I am away to have a wee go at this. Thank you x
I just made one with 2 leftover charm squares from the Window Pane 9 Patch I also just made with Downton Abbey Dowager Countess fabric. She's a "fancy" chicken. :-) Thanks for the tutorial! I had fun making it!
As soon as Jenny said, “chicken pin cushion” my heart leapt with joy because this project was the very first project I made when I transitioned from (simple) garment sewing for my toddlers into the world of quilt-type sewing. Approximately 14 yrs ago I bought Doreen Speckmann’s Norwegian Chicken Pincushion pattern and was hooked. I didn't know at the time that the pattern’s instruction for paper-piecing of the log cabins was not the norm with regard to putting average quilt blocks together, but was the thing for me since I can be a little anal at times and I needed that kind of instruction since I’d never done any block piecing before. I was so enthused by Jenny’s tutorial that I promptly bought some red felt for the combs, dusted off my paper pattern, and will be giving some newly-hatched hens away for, hmmm …oh, whatever I can think of. They’re too cute not to.
I'm so happy that I found you! I had two tutorials on Crafty, but I couldn't afford to buy more. I love the way you teach, you're very talented and I feel if I was close to you doing the projects. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello there! I live in clevedon, england, uk I've just started sewing and I love your tutorials I've already made your little zip bag and now can't wait to make the pin cushion!! You have some great ideas... Thank you! X
Wow this was the cutest lil thing I ever made!! Of course it took a little time to make the chick but overall, it’s such a good tutorial! I’ve always wanted to know how to do pincushion this is a great example! Love your tutorial, Jenny! From much love ,Sophia
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a pantry chicken with herbs in it to repel insects. Look at it every time I open the pantry and think I should be able to make some. Your pattern will be well used now👍🇦🇺
I just made one of those 10 minute table runners and matching placemats for my daughter.... have some leftover fabric that I cut off the placements.... Thanks for this tutorial.... will be squaring up the fabric and making some of these for my daughter!
I love you Jenny. I kinda prefer your singing. Reminds me of my precious Mothers voice. When we were naughty, she'd say she was gonna go to the Metropolitan Opera & she'd begin singing until my brothers & I would cry, no don't go Mom. We will be good. And she would stop singing & we all would laugh. I suppose some very learned person these days would say she was cruel & manipulative. Lol. Thanks for teaching this old dog some new tricks. Here chicky chicky, here chicky chicky. Lol again‼️
I so look forward to our Friday mornings!!! I love this one! I see these chicken pin cushions at quilt shows. Now I can make my own instead of buying them! Thank you Jenny!!!
