    I'm in the middle of making a large tuffet with a group of my quilting friends and have just watched your video. Its fantastic and I love it. I will try to make it before our next sewing/construction tuffet day. The ladies will love it too and I can see them wanting to make one too. Thanks for all your great videos. Your instructions are explained so succinctly, easy to follow and you save time using the time lapse technique

    I took a class at my local quilt shop to make one of these pin cushions. It was a fun class and I didn't give it away. I do have the kit to make another one and will probably give it away. As an aside I do collect pin cushions. Thank you for all of your tutorials. I have learned so much from you.

    i was able to finally finish this cutie project. I will say it is as cute as can be. I'm glad I bought the hardware kit last Christmas when it was in clearance. I only broke 1 nail. and I had to have a neighbor do the tufting. bc the hands couldn't find the center hole. OMG just glad I finished!!!

    Laura you’re brilliant! I’ve just made one of these but am having difficulty with the finishing touches, i.e. pulling the string to make the tuffet by myself, and adding the felt to the bottom. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it now. Thank you. Love your videos

    oh wow I watched your video, then google for more information, then bought the kit, unfortunately by the time I looked around the shop I didn't realise I had bought the refill kit, not the kit you have listed with the fabrics, so now I'll have to buy some muslin and fabric, but that's not a hardship lol,
    I also loved the way you made it much better than the other video I had seen of it, I found yours much easier to follow. Thank you.

    That is: One - Special - Pin - Cushion ! Oh boy, I had fun just WATCHING you make it; I can only imagine the satisfaction in making it myself. It would be hard to give away . . . maybe I could do it for a really special friend . . . they'd have to deserve it and promise to think of me and how hard it was to let go of it -- every time they used it! This is so dang CUTE I'm hyperventilating! I haven't been able to sew for a few years and now I'm CRAVING to sew and create beauty again. Other sewists might take for it granted because they get to sew all the time, and I might be like that too if I hadn't just been through a long creative famine, but this little project is so appealing to me that if I don't get to make it I'm gonna need therapy...those fabrics...!!
    But it's official: YOU ARE A BORN TEACHER, and I love the preciseness with which you make things. I've always been precise too but not with your degree of skill, so your videos are like little confections I savor. (Do you know what I mean by precise? Let me take a run at the hill of explaining it: You are exact and have a professional's knowledge and skill and pristineness that thrills my eyes and my soul.) Pant, gasp-- I've about blown my cerebral cortex trying to find the right words to "name it," to explain what I mean. Please say you get it!
    This kit idea is genius and their "ingredients" look very high-quality. Yummm to the 9th power!!

    • @newbeequilter
      @newbeequilter 7 років тому +1

      + Sue Leigh - Oh, I'm pretty sure Laura "gets it"; but she's humble and gracious enough not to brag on herself. She doesn't need to; those of us who tune in twice a week have the same response as you. It's just that not all her viewers/students take the time to write the creative comments you just did. I really enjoyed reading it, by the way. AND, I get how and why you responded to this video. I love her preciseness too - "little confections to savor" as you put it, and "pristineness that thrills my eyes and soul". You expressed what many of us feel; thank you! Who knew watching a sewing instructor could bring so much joy to so many students?

    • @sueleigh1018
      @sueleigh1018 7 років тому

      newbeequilter Thank you so much for your comment and "mirroring"!! I was so relieved at its positivity and kindness that I felt like putting you in The Will (don't get excited, it's pot luck right now--you have to bring your own money...)
      I couldn't bring myself to comment under YT videos for years because I was a very private person and socially afraid to be as publically exposed as a "flasher" on Main Street at noon. But I've been daring, for awhile now, to leave comments and have so far lived to tell about it--no sirens, no Main Street arrests...and no one grabbing their stomachs and projectile vomiting.
      Do you still feel like a newbie? Where are you in your sewing adventures? What's been your favorite project or accomplishment so far? (I've been away from sewing for so long I feel like a born-again virgin.)
      Thanks again, Newbie, and best wishes♡ Sue

    • @newbeequilter
      @newbeequilter 7 років тому

      + Sue Leigh - I love your sense of humor; you had me laughing out loud both times. It's hard to believe you were ever a private person or socially afraid :-)
      Yikes! I SO want to respond to your questions and comments here. But I need to sleep on this decision because of how revealing the answers would be. Seriously. Don't get me wrong, I'm normally not afraid to say who I am or express myself. But this is Laura's channel and I already have a past history of leaving lengthy comments here (as she can attest to) that have been "off topic" from many of her YT videos because I sometimes get on a roll and take a trip down memory lane. Some would nickname me "Loquacious Linda" for a reason (I'm an old lady with time on my hands), so it would take at least five LONG paragraphs.
      I'll leave it up to Laura to decide if she'd mind if this on-line quilting bee of comments that takes place in her sewing studio on YT takes a lengthy coffee break with two of the participants (pen pals?) chatting for everyone else to "listen" to. I'll totally understand if she'd rather we not go off on this tangent.

    • @sueleigh1018
      @sueleigh1018 7 років тому +1

      newbeequilter We both have the same guilty secret. I unleash my diarrhea of the verbosity on another channel because that teacher of many creative things is so soft spoken, "safe" and nurturing as she teaches that I find myself spewing uncontrollably. You and I might be the same age... Wait!! I've got to stifle myself and wait for our mentor's "GO-ahead" or her "OFF with their heads--and cut their tongues out while you're at it!!" ; )
      What about emailing each other so we don't upset the balance here?

    Very cute. Good job. I'd watch the walnut shells tho. I have found that anything that can be eaten by a little bug, will get eaten. Any alternatives to walnut shells? I used to do papier mache for my kids, and anything with flour or corn starch eventually got eaten by little bugs, even after adding school glue, paste, etc. to it. bean bags made with real beans got eaten. Just a thought.

    • @newbeequilter
      @newbeequilter 7 років тому

      + JoAnne Denison - Must have driven you buggy, huh? I live in a southern state where those guys love the heat and humidity in the summer here. When I see bugs where they don't belong I actually yell at them like one scolds a misbehaving pet. Ha! It gives me a great deal of satisfaction when I can stomp on them. I haven't made a pin cushion with walnut shells yet - but I thought I'd read somewhere that the ones that come manufactured and packaged like those especially for crafts use (treated in some way?) are bug-resistant.

    • @jmdenison
      @jmdenison 7 років тому

      Good pun. But yeah, those little critters drive us all buggy when they eat our woolens, cottons, silks and pin cushion and bean bag fillings. I guess I've gone all natural and now they see nothing in my home as a threat--only lunch and dinner! So I warn people about flour and corn starch in papier mache and bean bags!

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  7 років тому

      Yes as a general rule I do stay away from food too. But I'm not too sure if bugs would bother these as I think they have been treated. Thanks for commenting:)
