I LOVE Heather and Leony's humble spirits and their authenticity. . . I cannot stand the way Shauntelle's sniffs people's food like that. Would she go somewhere please. . . Bring the other 3 ladies back with an alternate 4th to make callaloo, oxtails and ackee w/ saltfish (the latter may be more Jamaican but it represents the Caribbean as a whole too with its flavors).
As soon as the last one said she’d put mustard in, I knew she was the winner - mustard is the secret weapon when it comes to cheese sauce. Even people who don’t like mustard still prefer mustard-seasoned cheese sauce over plain. A little mustard powder enhances the cheese flavour and cuts through the claggy and/or flouriness cheese sauce can sometimes get.
Never heard of one American Mac and Cheese recipe with mustard 🤮

The word is 'jus', the French word for juice. Also a roux is made with only flour and fat eg butter,oil. Bechamel sauce is what is used in macaroni pie etc. It is roux milk or cream added.

@@alykasa8570 before it becomes a becamel sauce, it is a roux, I think that is the stage she was referring to (where the flour was added). I think she was suggesting that the fat and flour were not mixed well enough.

As an American who has a Caribbean background I can can tell you Caribbean Macaroni Pie is NOT the same as American Mac and Cheese. All these extra spices they said they used sound like Macaroni Pie NOT American styled Mac and Cheese. Based on the reactions it didn't sound like anyone had a good recipe.
