you guys should change the ranking system to where they have to rank the dishes either first (1), second (2) or third (3) so a 1, 2, or 3 and then just add the scores so that the person with the lowest score wins and there's less unfair scoring.
The most beautiful thing about this, is that the children of each of these women grew up eating their food. And to their children, their mums food is the best in the world.
3:42 "it tastes like soap" I know EXACTLY what she's talking about. Coconut are very versatile fruit. They are used to make soap but also used for cooking. If you use the wrong grade of coconut oil once it hits a certain temperature it gets a soapy smell/taste. You have to buy coconut oil that is made for cooking. My mom is an excellent cook but she started using a certain coconut oil and it would ruin all her dishes for me. I googled it and learned why. It doesn't happen with all of them but some.
I need to see the deeper purple colour from the red kidney bean. They need to boil the kidney peas until dem soft. Then add coconut milk or the hard version and add spring onion , scotch bonnet, thyme. Then add the rice. But take the scotch bonnet out before it buss.
You can’t really replace coconut as the flavour is distinctive. You can still make the dish without coconut but be sure to add plenty of fresh seasonings and perhaps stock. Won’t be exactly the same though.
In Jamaica we use both Red and Gungo peas(Gungo peas we eat that during the christmas time). I know the caribbean has different versions of Rice and Peas but in Jamaica those peas are Jamaica's standard of rice and peas.
Riso e fagioli (rice and red beans) or (Riso e piselli) Rice and peas are very popular in italy too especially in winter. We fry mixture of spices (celery, carrots etc.) some pork chunks (for those who eat it) and half glass of white wine. Then smell. It is lovelly. Add some tomatoes paste and beans or peas. When ready add water to boil some salt to boil and then cook rice (you can also cook rice in pan and avoid boiling so it does not lose all its proprieties. Buon appetito.
Lorna's was actually funny. Everyone has some pride in their food so they'll think they're number one. But everyone is still fair while Shauntelle's terrible

you guys should change the ranking system to where they have to rank the dishes either first (1), second (2) or third (3) so a 1, 2, or 3 and then just add the scores so that the person with the lowest score wins and there's less unfair scoring.

3:42 "it tastes like soap" I know EXACTLY what she's talking about. Coconut are very versatile fruit. They are used to make soap but also used for cooking. If you use the wrong grade of coconut oil once it hits a certain temperature it gets a soapy smell/taste. You have to buy coconut oil that is made for cooking. My mom is an excellent cook but she started using a certain coconut oil and it would ruin all her dishes for me. I googled it and learned why. It doesn't happen with all of them but some.

I need to see the deeper purple colour from the red kidney bean. They need to boil the kidney peas until dem soft. Then add coconut milk or the hard version and add spring onion , scotch bonnet, thyme. Then add the rice. But take the scotch bonnet out before it buss.

You can’t really replace coconut as the flavour is distinctive. You can still make the dish without coconut but be sure to add plenty of fresh seasonings and perhaps stock. Won’t be exactly the same though.

In Jamaica we use both Red and Gungo peas(Gungo peas we eat that during the christmas time). I know the caribbean has different versions of Rice and Peas but in Jamaica those peas are Jamaica's standard of rice and peas.

Riso e fagioli (rice and red beans) or (Riso e piselli) Rice and peas are very popular in italy too especially in winter. We fry mixture of spices (celery, carrots etc.) some pork chunks (for those who eat it) and half glass of white wine. Then smell. It is lovelly. Add some tomatoes paste and beans or peas. When ready add water to boil some salt to boil and then cook rice (you can also cook rice in pan and avoid boiling so it does not lose all its proprieties. Buon appetito.
