I used to watch that "kids try" channel and small children were able to eat new things without spitting and gagging. Grown women eating a dish they're familiar with shouldn't be doing that. It's funny to throw a lil shade but come on.

The lady with the large wooden earrings is a breath of fresh air in these videos, she’s critical but she’s constructive, she’s sweet, she gives actual advice and real reasons for why she doesn’t like something instead of just saying “well, it’s not MINE so it’s nasty automatically”.
But also, was her food really that bad? Baked Mac and cheese with seasonings, it doesn’t sound bad.

The common denominator, in these types of videos and in real life, is that the best cooks tend to have a quiet/self-assured humility and certainly don’t feel the need to gas up their own food. They let others do it for them.
Sometimes even a good cook says stuff like it’s not that good..they are definitely humble.
Ok, my theory: this is low key an intervention theory. People are sending these folks in because they aren't strong enough to tell them their dish sucks and so they let them come on here where strangers can give them the real.

The thing about foods like mac-n-cheese is your family history plays so much into what you like, depends on what your mom/aunt/grandma made. Plus some people like it loose like stove top style, some people like it with eggs and cut into squares. Plus, when you add someone like Trudy, who's convinced herself her bathroom _always_ smells like roses, the mix is thrown off.

This series is pretty biased. They should have participants not involved with the dishes to prevent the overdramatic shade. Of course your gonna think your own dish is gonna be the best and of course your gonna tend to score everyone else's dish slightly lower so you have a better chance of winning... I'm guessing bragging rights?
Ok but macaroni pie is not mac and cheese they taste totally different so yea
American style Macronni cheese is gooyer and looser and has less spices like papricka and other spices typically used in Macronni pie....American mac and cheese is typically less heavily spiced and its focused more on the cheese and less of the spice and flavor of Macronni pie. Also Macronni pie holds together when you cut into it. Mac and cheese the us version dosent. You can't cut into American style mac and cheese fresh from the oven.

That's the roux method. There are other ways of making the cheese sauce. What she probably meant was that it had an UNCOOKED flour taste; which absolutely would be a problem no matter how you make it.
well true but if you make it right you can't tell. if it's "gritty" the flour wasn't blended correctly. if it tastes like flour, it wasn't cooked in the butter long enough.
