I think it’s because most dishes are of Indian origins and she’s more Indo trini , although they all might be Dougla ( mixed ) .
@@jonkiyosaki6600You bring up a good point, they could focus more on the Afro Trini cuisine such as stew chicken, red beans and rice, callaloo etc.... But black cake isn't Indian, and she still won that challenge. I'm dougla myself and would love see more of these challenges.
@@jonkiyosaki6600 they're not all dougla. She's Indian and that's fine. She made the best black cake which is not a traditionally Indian dish. Trinis of all backgrounds making other types of Trini food well

I'm Canadian, but there is a Trinidad restaurant I've ordered from where I live that sells doubles. I tried it just to see what it was like and I was obsessed. I get it every time now. Doubles are so goooood!!

Ah so Doubles is basically bhatura and channa/cholay together!
Yes essentially, (bhatura is a bit thicker tho) but with carribean seasonings. Mainly the green seasoning. West Indians have a lot of Indian ingredients and foods. As a Half Jamaican Half Indian I love when my cultures mix
Doubles is the one food I prefer to eat at a vendor than homemade. Those vendors have the magic ingredients. Thin bars and runny channa is easier said than done. You need the right consistency and flavor to make a great doubles.
Doubles sounds delicious, and as a man who likes condiments having a lot to choose from is never bad.

Tamarind sauce, shandon beni sauce (culantro) and cucumber slaw/chow/chutney and a pepper sauce are usually the bare minimum condiments for doubles.

Channa receipe like vendors: boil channa with split peas puree. When channa is soft add baking soda and green seasoning . Salt geera. Thank me later

I don't get the ratings on these series.
One person says it's dry the other says it's perfect.
One gives it a 7 the other gives it a 3.
Do they even understand what a 0-4 even means?
The worst most food can score is literally a 5 which is average.
So all these low ball ratings I'm struggling to understand.
The amount of things that have to be wrong with food for it to be a 3 goes far beyond your personal preferences. 😅
