What's your favorite part of John's epic studio?
that friggin intro....wow...some serious Noodling!
Def the beginning.
That expanded 1608!
Wall rugs!
Wow, another 1176 with a blue stripe
This isn't a "home studio" is a studio home 🔥 🎶
I love that it isn't symmetrical.. obsessed with bass trapping in corners, ceiling clouds etc etc.. it is setup so that everything is accessible. I'm doing that with the space I am building right now. I am planning for bass traps and such but not obsessing over it. He says he doesn't mix there but honestly, there is no reason you can't if you know your space.
I love Johnny's self-deprecation. He'd be a joy to create and shoot the breeze with
Definitely just “a studio”. But one that produces saliva upon touring. I think I just fell in love with his relatable lack of engineering polish. Great episode! 🙏🏻👊🏻
As a guy who's just dipping his toe into a small home studio this video was extremely inspirational. Great video.
This is by far my favorite Epic Studio space! Thanks Andrew and John.
When John was talking about your first band in the studio, it reminded me of my first band. We did a lot of pop punk, we placed in the basement...walls were all trashed, had a separate control room, was just a really dingy, basement with those old school wood panel walls. But that's where we wrote a lot of music and it was just a vibe.
My favourite part of Johns studio is john himself. What a dude. honest, humble and clearly talented too. He must be a pleasure to work with and should be an inspiration to anyone into playing , producing or recording. I thoroughly enjoyed this . he reminds me of Joe Bonamassa, surrounded by the best kit earned through sheer talent yet still enthused like a total beginner. i love to see these awesome musicians sharing their love of music.
I want to see a tour of Adam Young's studio in Minnesota. Adam is Owl City and the pics of the studio are awesome. You do a great job interviewing these studio owners and I love the videos.
I love the fact that John focusses so much on the moment of inspiration. Of course, gear is very important but useless without musical inspiration.
Blessed yet again by another stellar studio tour! Thanks Andrew!
AMAZING Studio 🎉❤
Close your eyes and when John Osborne talks, you are in a Tim & Eric Great Job episode.
God DAMN! I expected he might sound like one of their extra cast people, but hot-dog buddy sounds exactly like Eric
Haha omg
Hilarious.
I went to comment the same thing! Eric Wareheim EXACTLY
Why would you insult the man this way? He's way cooler than the single worst show ever made.
Oh holy shit, I'm so hyped to watch this. Brothers Osborne are my absolute favorite band!
Dude, I feel like John strikes the perfect balance between understanding how important gear is, but also understanding that it's not THE most important thing. This was so cool. Thanks for doing this!
What a beautiful console with all the different EQ’s and stuff snuck on top.
And John, wow what a chill guy, I feel that I would record so comfortably with him, has this down to earth energy and cool vibe
What a spot!!
wooow... Absolut stunish, a dreamplace!!!
Man that guitar playing in the beginning was killer! Good stuff
Very cool space and even cooler owner. Per usual great tour Andrew!
I relate so much with his perspective
The opening picture alone,- before I even click the vid,- DAYM,- what a viby place.
Perfect wilderness retreat to record in - back from a little bear hunting up in the mountains. :)
Man, man, man......
how could a sensitive musician ever hunt any poor creature?
The rug wall!!!🤩 Way to channel your coat of many colors vibe!!!!🤓🤘🏻
I like how he low-key dropped "Grace Bowers", one of the most popular guitarists in Nashville right now 😅What a champ!
Holy smokes! Dream Studio-House!
Such a great guy! We need more rockstars/humans like Jingle John 🎸
his voice sounds like eric wareheim whoa. amazing guitar-ing holy cow.
LOVE the cabin vibe!
Awesome !!!!! Funky ..Funny ..Fresh ..gives all the f's.. love it , ''its all about the juice ya know!'' prob my fave one as of yet ! THANKS!
The Studio is Wicked 🙊❤️
Johnny, you play the Gibson
Too Nice my Brother 🙈🙊✝️
Hey Andrew, I really enjoyed this tour, John is a character.
What a stellar video and studio! Dang I Love It!!!
This one and the Butch Walker studios are my favorite. LOVE IT!!!!
Not even halfway through watching and this is a tie with Butch Walker’s studio for me as far as what I am basing my next studio on!
love it love it love it love it love it love it
Now, that's how you Effin' start an Effin' studio tour. I replayed it, and almost didn't continur on to watch the remainder of the video. Effin' awesome. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I’m an instant fan of this guy ! So does to earth and great philosophy on how to have a working studio
Yeahhhh the Emerald City Guitars shirt! Represent!!
Yeas, Nice to have some playing in these episodes🥂❤️✨👊🏻
Great video ! Awesome studio ! console lust in your eyes !
That was fun 👍🏼
The studio has a dope look and I’m sure the vibe is rad. Makes me want to create something.
Great look. Great guy. I’ve lived in my recording studios since 1990. My various girlfriends have occasionally lived in them as well, briefly…
I was hoping this would happen when I saw the beginnings of this place on the emerald city guitars video!
Hey Andrew! Love your channel!! Wondered if you would consider adding a brief synopsis about the artists/ producers in the bio so we know who they are etc? Thanks !
The 30s/40s Ludwig snares were made with a thicker brass shell, AND only Nickel plated (whereas the modern Black Beauties are first Nickel Plated, then finished with the Black Nickel plating. GREAT drums, 6/8/ or 10 lug!! 🤘🏻🔥
Fantastic video! Thanks!
What a cool dude.. looooove the studio.. very vibey.
The shure drum mic kit with the sm57's and b52 is really all any home studio needs.
great watch.
I should have waited to comment. I see a Skull Shaker, I have one, I also record acoustic guitar with a 57. The whole just turn it an and record because everything is good to go, is my mantra. Everything in my little studio is wired so that it takes no time to be up and running. All my keyboards are ready to play along one wall and my guitars are all in the racks on the opposite wall. He's right when he says it's all about not wasting time.
Great and beautiful studio, but WHAT A NICE GUY!!
Bro you go to Robert lang studios in Seattle! One of the best studios i ever worked in! You won't be disappointed!
Love the White Pocket wallpaper on his monitors
Fun tour! I sensed some of Andrew's API console envy.
Amazing
That’s 1920 Ludwig is a steal for only $400. What a beauty! Let him know Andrew. Great studio!
whatttt ------whattttt super dope.
I wired my api 2448 ,orange handcuffs from Home Depot are your friend ,love it
Great interview
Wow I always thought the Transient Designer plugin never does what the knobs say either. Good to know the hardware does. Great studio tour. Hella cool
All of that amazing gear and still ground noise!😂😂😂
Yep - all home studios should have Isolated grounding (secondary grounding) for all critical (audio/computers) equipment circuits 👍🏻
You know that your hometown guitar shop has arrived when you see cats wearing an Emerald City Guitars (Seattle) t-shirt in Nashville. You remember, yep, it was owner Jay Boone who showed you what a real vintage (1964) Fender Stratocaster felt like, and you bought two guitars from Liz. And if you really want to get deep into the Pacific Northwest, touring musicians and locals also know Rock King's Guitar Maniacs in Tacoma where I too have bought a guitar, a pedal, or two... These are real guitar shops, which are just better than your typical "big box" affair...
super dope
Шикарно)
god damn thats gorgeous
What I am finding most fascinating and in truth I’m wondering exactly why, but after finding myself back in the passion of engineering I’ve watched around twenty of your videos and I have yet to see one pair of Genelecs in any of these studios. It’s clearly not because they are cost prohibitive as there’s no cap on what is paid for the right gear, but as a pro engineer years ago you couldn’t go into a professional studio without encountering a set of 1031a’s. After years of searching I was able to get a set of 1032’s for an incredibly righteous price and other than the NA-10 I wouldn’t want to mix on anything else but clearly there has been a shift in that ideology. What am I missing?
Still great speakers, but there has been twenty years of new speakers that have been designed and released. People pick speakers for all sorts of reasons.
you have to visit La CasaMurada, in Catalonia (Spain). A 14th century fortified house with space to sleep for 20 people where you can record 24h a day. (night included).
the space needs to be vibey and inspiring i think he reached it
there's nothing "home" about this studio.. this is a professional one IMO
This is off the scale crazy! i love it! It jut makes my micro studio seem pitiful in comparison. But I love mine. How do people afford these huge home studios? I take it they're not working a day gig in a factory like me.
Where do these studios get the money and even more, the justification with the security of a ROI?
Great episode! Love the "whole-house-turned-studio" episodes. Appreciate your efforts here, Andrew. PS: Can you tell me what the keyboard summing mixer is? I need something like that with inputs on the front. Thanks
wow
36:12 FRIGELEE😀
Wicked place! Also random fact, John Osbourne is Ozzy's birth name! lol
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

That was my favorite episode hands down & my favorite studio. Mucho VIBE ! And let’s not forget that guitar intro WOW amazing ! Maybe one day my studio will be on the show !
Anyone know what brand those large moving acoustic panels with wood are from? love those
"home studio" is like generic. "house studio" is DEF what John has. I love the playing in the beginning and really sweet house studio. Enjoying all the content. Been motivating me to keep writing.
Andrew - Great tour.
I do have a question re: the Brother's use of UA Ox Box - which I believe he said is used on everything. I have an API and the Ox. Curious if he means that he uses it as a power soak on every head but then records his amp/speaker via Mic into this mixing console....or is he using it with the UA simulations. I also recall Butch Walker uses the Ox and you also. What would you say is the way most of the folks you know are rolling with the Ox? Thank you!
Any guy who buys a 32 channel api is a smart guy 😊
This is the equivalent of a "reading room" in a fine University library.
It's not a Home Studio, it's a Studio Home. Beautiful! I have been planning one for years!!
When will you visit Timberland's studio?
Yeah come on Tim
Anybody who's not familiar with Grace Bowers mentioned in this video needs to check her out.
What is the A.R.T thing he was talking about in the synth/keyboard/organ section? To keep everything wired up and live at a moments notice.
All that equipment and i heard the static in the intro guitar 🙃
Does anyone know what stand that is for the screens/mouse & keyboard ? Looking for one or something similar 🙏
Epic of Epic Home Studios would be Johnny Cash's "Cabin" Studio".
nice eric johnson inspired intro
I'm guessing this bloke ain't married. My wife just wouldn't have this 😂
Hah! When you find the RIGHT person, AND you are immensely successful in your endeavors, there's no reason to interject. An electricians wife doesnt complain about new tools, right? 🤷♂️
Nice studio Andrew, do you have a DBX 160 ? If so, can I have one ? :) :)
😎
Some players really get the #blues
his vibe is so spectacular. Such a cool spot and he seems like a great hang - not to mention the amazing playing at the beginning!
Awesome space, but seeing the guitars up on a window drove me nuts
What guitar preamp are you using?
