Carpet in a woodworking shop looks cray cray.... unless you aren't doing any woodworking in there... you know cutting, sanding, spilling solvents, etc... Maybe it works, but please tell us how it's working out, with vacuuming wood residue and dust. I personally would have gotten with a floor that kept the dirt visible, and easy to clean... i.e. vacuum, mop, squeegee, etc.... but you are the expert so what do I know....
You’re going to love this, back when I was doing pro rally and road racing I had yellow shad carpet in my car and a half work shop. It was great you could get under the car and the concrete wasn’t cold. Oil change was done either carpet rolled up or outside when there was warm weather.
Stumbled across your channel out of curiosity...never did I expect to see my favourite colour (lime green/sweet pea) splashed around with so much flair and artistry in a workshop. That alone got you another subscriber...well done sir. Mrs Haxman has a steady hand on the drone controls. Cheers from down under 🇦🇺
Another option is valspar porch and floor paint in your color choice. Base coat it, second coat throw a heavy broadcast of paint chips. Spray 2 to 3 coats of hardwood floor urethane on top to hold it all down. I did this in a 12x24 shed and it's holding up to abuse and looks just like an epoxy flake floor. Price wise it's massively cheaper than epoxy kits
Watching your videos scratches an itch for me. I would love to be a perfectionist with these types of projects, but I get too tired to finish it well. Watching you mark everything and put it up exactly where it is marked just makes for a great video
As a lady who uses her garage for about 10 different purposes, including a car space, gym, workshop and office, I loved the heck out of this. I did carpet tiles in my office area but just joined the corners with sticky corners. It's a superb space you've created. 👌🏻
The mobile base is genius. I have a harbor freight press that is a pita to move around. That along with the storage table are going to make my garage so much cleaner. You win a sub !
LOL... I needed that. Your solution to removing the mess could certainly be effective. Thanks for a great video and for sharing your experiences in a fun, effective way.
I have used the early version of the Rigid Miter Saw stand for my Makita sliding miter saw for 20 years. It folds up and stores out of the way similar to yours. Same extended rollers for longer boards. Love it!
So great to see you are back and bringing A-Game humor and videos for us to enjoy and learn from. Can’t wait to see what you are going to accomplish. You are inspirational!
You are truly a craftsman. That mistake in the round table could have destroyed that project but you found a way to recover and finish it. You got street cred points as far as I’m concerned. Keep creating!
Orange and lime green belong in a garage. Well done Sir! I declare that is thee most pristine gairodge east of the Mississippi. May your shop neva again be sullied by unnecessary clutta!
I'm not gonna lie, adding a TV and a PC with a wireless keyboard w/ trackpad has been the best thing I've done to my shop. no more leaning under the hood trying to watch a UA-cam video on my phone while trying to fix something new!
Dude! I love the content you put out-super instructional and inspirational, all while keeping it fun. You make these projects feel totally achievable for a regular guy like me. Keep it coming!
A rich guy would have built an entire shop with all new stuff. Get your grind on, upgrade your career or trade. If you don't have either of those, I suggest getting an in demand skill. Blue collar jobs will make you a lot of money these days and have way less investment than some university degree from a bunch of professors that are or concerned about indoctrinating people then giving them good skills to go out and be a contributing member of society.
NO CARPET IN THE SHOP!!! I'm a retired local & long haul truck driver of 42 years. I've delivered to thousands of businesses, and homes. And one the worst deliveries were gun shops and exercise equipment stores. And they had one thing in common "CARPET"!!! Try rolling a pallet jack with a pallet with a gun safe or 500 lbs crate of weights across CARPET!!!
Wonder if old fashion tile would be a better choice? I am thinking of the black and grey squares. Anyone have experience with them? Especially if keeping a car in the Garage?
Good thing he isn't rolling a pallet jack with 500lbs on it around his shop. Its a Garage not a Commercial space, for what he needs to do it there it will be fine.
I don’t think I would use carpet in my garage either but if I did carpet tiles are the way to go. If there are stains or damage just pull up the bad tiles and replace them.
Absolutely unreal. I can appreciate just how big of a project that is. If that was my garage build I'd camp out in it the first night. You are quite the craftsman excited to see more of your skills. Stumpy nubs has used carpet in his woodshop and he's good with it. I'll be doing the same. Adobe Premier has some new ai tools that look pretty sick when you catch your breath check them out. Nice work Adam.
Thanks Jacob! Yes, when I first thought about using carpet I looked to see if anyone had a video on it and found his. That's what made me feel it was good to go. I'm always slow to update Adobe to try and prevent bugs. 😂
Epic game changer! 😂I didn't know how much I missed seeing you and your fun character and cool projects. OH can't for get... Love Love Love Love the family 😅😂😅❤😊
My favorite makeover video even though its a little rich for what i want to do. However it gives you ideas on what you can do with what you have! Great job man! It looks great!
Love the makeover... I need to do something similar... but I've got a '66 mustang in my garage and tools I need to organize. Really good looking makeover man!
I have been wondering what colour to use in my garage and the green you have is pretty similar to the colour of my Engine tin ( Air Cooled Porsche). A buddy of mine painted my tin. bright Green when I was away on business. He had helped me build the motor. Well here I am years later. I love the colour as crazy as it is and then I see your garage! Your place looks fantastic and I really like the lights! Thanks so much for posting!
Like what you did with the shop/mancave/garrage. You know what I have not seen that would be cool is integrating a power station like BLUETTI, or EcoFlow into the workbench so that the power goes with the work bench when you roll it out into the driveway for cutting and other things. You could build a compartment on the side or back with filters to keep the dust down and mount a power strip on the outside so you could plug in tools like a saw. Mobile power for a mobile work bench. It would be super convenient to not have to roll out cords everywhere and then find a free outlet to plug it in every time. Now this would add some weight and you would have to recharge it when you put it away but it would be super cool.
Ohhhh the satisfaction of woodworking without actually being the one that does the work!!!! Just need to work out the smell a vision so the audience can smell the fresh cut wood. Ohhh wait, I have a scented candle for that lol.
In the 2+ years I've been watching your channel I've seen you reorganize/clearout your garage a few times. Glad to know it's not just me that does it only to have it become a catch-all later! 😅 BTW - how high is your garage ceiling? This has definitely given me some ideas, especially that lighting!
Got to say your shop is the litest 🔥that i seen i wannt one 😂😂😂 seriously im a phien for florescent colors❤and the metal ontop of the wood deff beats the old vintage shop look😂deff my style loving the content man❤
I'm brand new to this site - ok ok - the gasoline/ fire segment was a bit much, the eating glue got me to chuckle but damit, the French's mustard bit got me laughing out loud. New fan here
Orange is my accent colour lol but didnt want it to look like a Harley Davidson themed garage....instead makes it a Festool Themed Garage. Great build dude. Enjoyed seeing the brightness of the Sun when you plugged in the Hex Lights
After six month's of use, how practical have the carpet tiles been? Is cleaning an issue? By the way, I seriously love the green contrast with the black. Great combination.
What is cleanup like with the carpet tiles and tools like the drill press used indoors? (Assuming to roll out to the driveway for heavy ripping and saw work)
Sometimes you gotta completely destroy something to be able to make it better. When I was little I would be told to clean my room before playing outside...soooo I'd take everything completely out into the hallway and put it all back in piece by piece to perfect and better than ever every time. It helped to have a change of normalcy and also to see what things I actually had that I then had the choice to keep and rearrange or get rid of.
Ok ya sold me on the hexlight. Thanks for the idea/inspiration. I need a lot of light in my shop, especially since I shoot video in there, so a couple of those kits will be showing up next month. That update came out great, and your cabinet doors are excellent camouflage for Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars. Sedate simply will not do. Every work space needs a 65" TV, it just does. All the possibilities of things to watch on a large smart TV while working... Organizing your shop space is wonderful, but it seems to take a lot longer than it should. I like the shelves under the table, but I find things get pushed to the back never to be seen again.. and thats how you need up with three or more different versions of the exact same items. I just did a bunch of rework in my shop, except I build cars in there so carpet on the floor would be a soggy oil soaked nightmare. I turned my walls into storage with pegboard to clear up space in tool boxes and every flat surface available. I have a wall of QuadraJet carburetors, and its glorious. Have another panel of my wall for wiring supplies, and there are wrenches and tools I forget I own in easy reach, divided up between Moon (freedom fractions) and No Moon (metric). I had a bunch of transmissions soaking up floor space, so a shelving unit that can hold 800lbs on each shelf got the nod. The old 50s era kitchen cabinets that came with the falling in cabin on my land have been in there since I built the shop, they need repainted... Still trying to decide what color I want them to be. Not green, maybe carousel red, like a 1969 Judge. Using my 18" metal brake I made some rattle can holding trays, they came out nice, but they need a shade of something on them.. something jaunty and jarring of course. However, I need to build another shed to store engines, transmissions (come in Major Tom), fenders/doors/hoods, interior pieces, and other detritus left over when you take a car completely apart so it takes up 4x as much space. Good thing I bought that sawmill, now when I cut down trees to make room for a shed/garage I can turn the trees into shed/garage. Now if I can fix the skid steer and get it out of the shop I can stop using it as an exhaust tubing rack... but then it needs a shed too, along with the Allis Chalmers. Its gonna be one of those busy years I think.
Congrats! That'll do a lot for your brand for sure. That green stands out. It looks amazing on black with the orange accents. But this was funny as per usual. Keep it up dude!
Looks good (love the Festool green!). But..... MDF? Those won't hold up over time, your fasteners will pull out. I'd have splurged extra for paint grade plywood (and solid wood edge banding of course).
Awesome job repurposing what you already had on hand. Really like the 🟩 and 🟧 accent pieces. Space looks more modern, with that said I would have replaced the faux wood wall to something that matches the new look. Overall great result.

Even his bright green would have been better, but you can't beat semi-gloss white! Helps repel dust too! :)

My mom put linoleum in her garage. This was back in the 70’s. It was super durable. She parked and drove on it, which lasted years.
The biggest problem with linoleum is you have to seal it, generally annually.
The black and green are STUNNING!

Love that Vago green was used. Now I want to do my garage like that
Use scotch bright pads to scuff metal for paint. Tip of the day! Would be much better on the diamond plate.
No wonder i haven't seen you in a while, ya been rebuilding your house. Super easy, famous last words.
😄
Love it, we use both the plastic tiles and the hexagon lights at work, and I still think the carpet tiles love well....
Love all the overhaul. Put the mobile bases on all my equipment. So much easier to move around and get out of the way.

Great choice of music. Finally a channel I don't have to mute while they play music.

You've given me inspiration for my garage. I would say though, you're going to have a hell of a time getting drill swarf out of that carpet. Cheers

Direct To Metal DTM paint.
Great idea printing up corner bumpers for bench.

Honey mustard is more adhesive than the classic French's yellow mustard.
I'll try to remember that.
Spicy brown will also work in a pinch but I found that it is a much better hole filler than an adhesive.
But at least French's yellow mustard is good for *something*.
