A lot of gems in this episode! So much fun. Check out all the stuff in the description and have a great weekend!
Cool episode and studio - maybe I missed it, but exactly what are those monitors please?
@@balisaaniHi there. B&W 801 Matrix 3. Bowers & Wilkins from the mid 90’s
Tommy is the real deal. He hired me when he was director of The recording arts at Tri~C in Cleveland. You won’t find many guys like him in the music industry.
Sankofa!
@@tommystracks7447 Hey Tommy!!! Seeing you gave me a good feeling of nostalgia. You have to link up next time you’re in NYC.
This guy needs to create his own site. He is a wealth of knowledge. He could do videos and go in depth on a variety of topics.
What happened to the new studio space???
old-timers are the best, just what's important please. Natural Bridges, very solid sound.
So inspiring....where knowledge and vibes beats technology and money 🙏
So freakin' cool! I would love to have that vibe and vitality when I'm that age. Everything in his studio has a purpose and a use. Great tour!
Loved Tommy’s vibe and knowledge. Another great studio tour.
What a cool guy, so much useful knowledge in this video.
Cool dude! The Bruce Dern of Epic Home Studio Recording. I bet he's got some good stories. Nice one, Andrew.
Tommy is awesome. Learned so much from him as an engineer and as a person.
What a cool guy and an awesome studio! I really enjoyed the tour.
Tommy - about time you were featured!
Awesome tour video, I enjoyed every second of it! 👍🏻👏🏻💪🏻🍻🍻🙋🏼♂️
I love this guy
This episode was one of my favourites. This, and the Matt Mahaffey one was super great too. There's something extra special about the people who live and breathe music so much that it's intertwined with the arc of their lives.
Gem indeed. Loved this so much! Super authentic and inspiring.
Absolutely beautiful ❣ love form London UK x
Why did you have to move to another space for your studio??? The new space was really cool
Fascinating stuff! Educational and entertaining. I really enjoyed this tour, thanks Andrew!
Good lord Those Speaker's are Huge
Love that set up!
what a crazy time we are living in. so sick
One really big takeaway....reading is important!!!
Sound, like pretty much everything else in this life, simply offers a better experience if you work with it vs. fight it for control
Hi Andrew! I’ve been loving your channel and find great inspiration from your shows! This was my fave! Tommy is charming and sincere and he inspires me! Thank you for the terrific work!
This felt like equal parts epic home studio tour and american pickers! I loved it
TY 🤍 UK
You going to do a video of the Mobile Rig?
I pitched it to Andrew!
thanks for the amazing video as always, watching Sr. Tommy made me recall why i i built my studio for, because i was thinking about shutting down the studio because i was getting back what i invested but get the money back was not what made me built the studio. if U know what i mean ahahaha
Tommy!!
Cool guy!
That part was funny when he said stealing was good😂 ackward
ELECTRIC LADY STUDIOS. His album was what you said.😂
You are correct! He was designing it while Jimi toured to pay for it. I was fortunate to “experience” Jimi, Mitch and Noel from the lip of the stage. Mind. Blow.
That "in the beginnig" edit is MAD
No tour of the mobile studio?
Curious about these styrofoam diffusers . Any idea on where these can be purchased ?
Good question. I don’t see them now on Sweetwater or Auralex websites. I’ll ask my SW guy.
@@tommystracks7447 awesome! I’d love to get a hold of some of those myself .
These videos are always super informative. I appreciate you for sharing your knowledge and experience with everyone. I can tell a lot of thought and experimentation went into your studio. It also looks great !
Me and my buddy showed up to meet Tommy the first time at tri c when he was running the recording program. At the end of our mating he said you guys shouldn’t show up at 9am smelling like weed. Then we all laughed lol 😂
love his popper stoppers !!! please Andrew buy a shure popper stopper for ariana your wife !!!
13:16 wait wait wait
so you put the rockwool/insulation in your frame. With a sheet of craft paper in the front. Then wrap it all in fabric?
Or the craft paper is also in front of the fabric?
Yeah, I was wondering about that also. My homebuilt acoustic treatment is similar (2" 703 and 3" rockwool on the walls/ceiling) but if there's a way to make it better, I want to know.
I actually had the great pleasure of hanging out with Tommy recently and I asked the same question. It makes an insane difference doing the craft paper thing he’s talking about. So yeah he puts his rockwool in a frame and then leaves about an inch of space then puts the craft paper over the frame and then wraps the fabric over everything. Hope this helped!!
@@RougeMusician1744 Thank you!
What is the microphone you're speaking into during the intro?
One of my favorite things in this video is that, when Andrew is doing the introduction of the video in his own home studio, he's holding a mic, but you can clearly see there is nothing plug into it, and there is a visible mic on his shirt collar.
So now I'm just laughing thinking about how he's doing this with his mic for aesthetics, but is watched by people who love and care about this stuff and so he must want someone to point it out right?
Beyer M160?
anyone know how the computer monitor is setup / what it is? I really like how low it is
The monitor is just leaning against the stand. I’ve got a strip of weatherstripping along the bottom edge so it won’t slide. VERY rancho.
Man I wish some of his responses weren’t edited so much - great video nonetheless
Proud I say uh a lot!
"What happened to the new studio space???"
Another studio move already? Sorry buddy.
I'd love to see a tour Ian Kirkpatrick's home studio it looks so cool I still remember it from the video he was in for splice's izotope vocalsynth 2 ad
