As a guitar player I can competently say that this sounds like a snare.
It lack that explosive sound im used to in metal, but yes, its a snare and sounds like a snare

@@A-G-F- Most of that is due to them literally being Metal Snares. Made with aluminum and what not. But also this is a very shallow snare. It'd be great for a side snare though

That was surprisingly not bad!!! Didnt have the nice crack that I like in a snare, but hey, for $30 you really cant complain. You should do more stuff like this, hell, just build a super cheap kit and see if you can find some hidden gems :)

Respect for using the drum dial! I live by that thing especially when tuning my snare! I also just got a tune bot as well but haven’t used it.
Edit: lol I’ll never forget when I put a hybrid head on my 14x6.5 Mapex maple and going from a coated reverse dot to the hybrid was like night and day. That crack/pop is amazing!

My favorite steel snare is a pearl forum one. Cheap as hell, but sound good! skins is so important. And for comparison I also have pearl masterworks snares and mapex black panther and i still grab that forum to record.
Dude for $30 snare and a $50 head, man that shit sounded so goood. It had a nice low end thunk, but a very dark, clear middle, and the high end wasn't too muddy. Like, honestly, this would totally be great for studio use, especially if the drummer DOESN'T know how to tune their snare. Which as we all know, is going to be the death of every last drummer alive 🤦♂️

Y'know, I agree. Buuut, if you tune it up just a bit on the batter and detune the resonant a hair, but have a medium-high strainer tension, you gon have one helluva snappy/pingy boi lol
