Gravity blast? More like cavity blast! Ba-Dum-

@@jshooa4840 members probably see this video in advance
Twenty twoooo
@This is Kevin the pellet size.
On a more serious note, normal gravity blast has 16th notes on snare and 8th notes on kick, gravity bomb blast has 16th notes on both snare and kick.

5:17 is how DRUMMERS tell GUITARISTS how they want the riff to be
I usually associate guitar riffs with blasts and kicks😂
lmao
Dat gravity bomb blast tho
stop and go blast is basically the Fear Factory Blast, just have feet mimic the guitar pattern and you got 90% of Fear Factory songs
🤣 Yeah, JUST do that and you're Gene Hoglan. Good luck!
@@PhazeOrderZero Yeah, i was gonna say... "JUST" xD
@@PhazeOrderZero super easy, barely an inconvenience...
Behemoth does it alot too
90%?! Okay, so I'm not only a FF nut, but I also play in a FF tribute band, so here we go..
Dude, they do blast beats like maybe 3 times on an album. Sure, they have a lot on Soul Of a New Machine (which most are super sloppy, and not patterned), then Demanufacture has H-K which has the ever-so-famous "THE MACHINE IS NOW ALIVE..." blast beat. Zero on Obsolete and Digimortal. A little bit on Archetype, a little on Transgression..
Then we get to the Dino return era, which has more of these, as Gene Hoglan not only specialized in that style, but applied them somewhat generously in Mechanize, which in turn influenced The Industrialist and Genexus. Yes, there was more at that point, but certainly not 90%.
Thank you for attending my Ted Talk 🤓
I needed this in my life
I love learning about blast beats more than anything. I'm a drummer trapped in a guitarist body.
Me too
Me three
Trans instrumental lives matter
I bet that internal songwriter appreciates it
Poor you.
Babymetal did a band instrumental intro for a new song on their Metal Galaxy tour. They each took a solo and ended with the drummer. After they were more than half way through the tour, the drummer incorporated a gravity blast to finish his solo and it blew my mind with how intense and fast it was! Thanks for showing me how it’s done!
Stop watching baby metal, you're part of the problem
@@Centerpieceofmindbaby metal is absolute garbage
9:00 I've tried practicing for YEARS to be able to do the whole "two rhythms/time signatures simultaneously" thing, whether something like this, or singing while playing anything syncopated on an instrument. Never ever could.
So much respect to polyrhythmists. 💕
Samus: So let's start off by counting the Dirk blast in a pattern of threes. one-two-three , one-two-three...
Me in my head: twen-ty-two, twen-ty-two
Can you explain the 22 gag ? I've missed it somehow
@@VelvetKovorkian I don't know what it means either ... But damn it's funny when Samus says it and since it became a inside joke for the community ... Why not use it lol

Yo Sam, Im in the market for a new E-kit. Have about $1700 usd. Any recommendations?!
This is just what I needed to finish off my weekend, gravity bomb blast for the win!
Not a drummer, and never have been, but watching Samus is such a pleasure. Played with a lot of drummers over the years but his skill and ability to break down complex beats is inspirational. Oh Yuur!
I just realized that my beautiful soul of a drum teacher in the late-90s post-soviet Ukraine taught me 90% of a dirk blast. Unfortunately the dude drank himself to death, but bless him for teaching me a fundamental that Dirk eventually turned into a blast beat. Fuck yeah. I wish I kept playing drums.
0:50 I can't stop laughing at this
I was thinking about that beginner blast beats video recently. I'm glad there is now an epic follow-up.
Now... Hear me out. 180bpm 2-handed 32nd note gravity blasts?
The forbidden technique...
Was thinking the same thing, I m gonna try it. I also wanna see if there is a video on it
Fuuun
It's totally possible, except we already have a way to do 32nd notes and it's called FUCKING ROLLS
that's a roll my friend
Year later the blast so advanced he become blast Jesus
Dude. You’re so modest. I’ve watched you forever. I usually like your more comical videos like farts on a keyboard. Like...ya...obviously you’re a great drummer. But dude....you can teach like I’ve never seen. You could seriously teach someone that has never played drums to be able to do those blast beats on their first try because your explanations are so clean and the way you speak there is zero judging or the very common “look at me I’m a bad ass drummer!” You just seem like an honest nice guy. Keep doing you man! Ohhhhhhh yuuuuuurrr!
“Blasterbation 101”

R.I.P our Lord and Savior.
This is a perfect explanation, well put together, and amazingly well executed. Love your stuff, and this will help a lot of drummers reach that next step.
You're a really big inspiration for me, Samus. I started playing the drums myself over half a year ago. And now, I'm learning Almost impossible blasts because of you! Thanks in name of me and everbody! Keep going pls 🙃
".. But when you can control it, you´ll be blasting with Devin himself!"
Kinda irrelevant, but today I turned 22, and the first thing my girl does is start playing clips of you saying twenty two 🤣
I hope you married her.

Dude, the way he crosses his hands during the Dirk blast is hypnotic.
I'm not even a drummer (I dabble every now and then but I'm mainly a guitarist), but I have never met any drummers (face to face anyway) who could do that hand switch so cleanly and precisely.
seriously thank you for all the information that you have offered. please don't stop making videos
1:35 stttt angeerrr round my neck heee nveeurrr get repseect
I will never unhear this, thank you
You flush it out. You flush it out
I learnt dirk blast before I knew it was a thing, I was just practicing flam taps and started splitting them across the hats and snare.
You improved so much since years back when I first discovered you, well done on the effort and practice efficiency.
Sam is a great teacher. He makes things very easy to understand.
I want to be a self taught drummer one day. Gravity blasts are my favorite. They seem fun to play
Just become one? All it takes is practice, practice, practice and a little education on what is important.
I'm watching this as a guitarist to learn things for composition... and also to abuse my drummer with when we make him play it
So good, thank you for your hard work and candor!
Thank you! Easy to digest.
10:23 - OCEAN MAN, TAKE ME BY THE HAND
Me: So Samus how do I do the bomb blast?
Samus: 22!!!!
Honestly that made my night 😂😂
You're a simple man
0:50 you're welcome
Not a drummer but I absolutely love these videos. They've improved my drum programming skills quite a lot!
ayyyyyyy more blast beats
That guitar riff he made reminded me of the outro of remembrance by gojira
Hey @66Samus I love your blast beat playing. you are my inspiration Sam
Yes I learned something. More of that please!
Great Video man🤘
Can you maybe do a video sometimes in which you teach us some cool metal fills? Im struggling finding some cool ones
This and your work with Devy shows just how solid your drumming is. Have you considered doing any Rings of Saturn covers on the channel just for the heck of it?
Very helpful video I really enjoyed it, plus he has a very joyful personality. Good job..
I love the sound of your kit!!!!!!!
This shit really helps me with my drum programming. Thanks dude! OH YURRRR
Man Must Die still has my favorite start stop in the breakdown for Kill It Skin It Wear It
No tolerance for imperfection was a killer album! Loved the drumming on it.
Love this dude.you learn a lot from him, do what he says , you cant go wrong
Thanks Sam!!
Amazong content!
You really look like a drumming wizard with that beard.
This is perfect timing for me
I just purchased my first double pedal and I still play like Ringo Star so this can’t be bad
oh yurr 🤘🏼
Excellent as always!
The blast beat in itself makes me laugh. Especially when it’s slower and the double 8th note hands just sounds ridiculous...then cats like yourself speed it all up and it sounds super ridiculous and not in the bad ridiculous way haha. Thanks for your killer content my man. You’ve got like a whole thing goin on the with your sayumases n stuff mmmk?
All I wanted you ta do was play somes Archspire 😀
I'm not a blast beat player - but I appreciate those that are. And it always amazes me at the speed that drummers that tend to gravitate toward blast beats (Pun??????) have. Thank you for sharing this - I'm actually going to try and practice some of these and see if I can do them. Even though I know they aren't easy, you make them look as such with your playing. Again - thank you for sharing -
This actually was really helpful since I’m trying to learn the gravity blast. Thanks for the tips my dude!!!!
You should do a video on durability! I can play blast beats clean but only for like 5-6 seconds.
Doesn't need a video. Just play slow enough to be able to play for minutes. Increase speed as you progress.
jonathanmellqvist2 yeah but that really doesnt help for durability. Its a hole different world
You might mean Endurance, friend =)
@@benjamin-us7mw What do you mean by durability then?
Benjamin i mean there very well could be a technique that helps you play endurance and i actually know a few for example moving your shoulders gives more endurance.
5:13 - 5:38 I thought the blast beat would include that mouth guitar riff, that would have sounded so cool hahaha
the durk blast iv been practicing this video help thanks 66
Thanks Samus! That was clean & tight! 22!!
11:17.. did you just play the intro to demolisher by slaughter to prevail?

Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration :)
66Seamus- your channel is diverse my dude. It’s hilarious (I show fart metal to everyone I know will appreciate it), it’s informative like this (I’m more of a pocket/feel drummer, but admire metal drummers so fuckin much) and I really enjoy your product reviews.
Good on you man. A lot of admiration for you dude.
thank you so much!!!
Why does this guy look like heavy metal Weird Al.
Except you dont wanna leave your wanna leave your daughter with this one
Exactlt what I was thinking.
He looks like varg 😂
I gotta admit, this guy is probably the best drummer I've ever heard
Yeah he's pretty effin good for sure
I like how your Blast Beats sounds clean!
Amazing speed and control. 22
Cheers from Kentucky. 🤘
People use the dirk blast to “cheat” lol I knew a drummer who used the gravity blast to cheat regular blasts above like 200 bpm 😂
That moment you notice the toilet paper in the background.
Most helpfull advice of the whole video at 00:26. I should warm up on this, when I don't forget to warm up (I always forget)..
I've been drumming for more than ten years now, and I knew all of this since the beginning, I just CAN'T push myself to do it properly.
That snare had a good rim job. Sounds great 👍🏻🤗
I didn’t know weird al was a drummer

Great break down man. always fun to watch your videos man. Distrokid sounds awesome. thanks bro.
thanks, blast is life. i’m 16 and il trying, thanking you, to studing blasts 🔥💪🏼
I have nerve pain in my hands, I cant blast beat at all...HEY SAM?! Do you know a good E-kit for metal players in the $1700 USD range?
td-17 kvx is it called i believe or maybe look into the alesis strike pro but dont really know how expensive that one is
I own and love the Roland TD17KVX, got it for 1400 with shipping
Nerve pain is probably muscoskeletal misalignment from spine hips or ribs. Try 4 7 8 breathing. I have kvxs. It's fucking amazing and will keep up with your metal. I play really fast it gets every kick and snare blast.
