Please sing. I'll sing with you. "Wheeeen were doooown in Tennessee.. and freeeedom is aliiiive. You hear shots ring out? Hikok45! .... LIFE IS GOOD! he shoots more ammo than he probly should....."
I own a uberti single action and a Ruger new vaquero. Love them both and I’m now on the path to one day owning a colt. I will get there. 😎Thanks Hickok
I love our Sunday Shoots. Love the stories, and the conversion, and the Gong! It is like a visit with my wise Uncle, with sage advice, insight, and discussion …. Thank you so much for everyone who puts your videos together! God Bless
When I started reloading back in 1983. People told me that I would just shoot more. Well that turned out to be true. So it's a win win thing. Lower cost per round and more trigger time. Then add in the panic buying and I still have plenty so I don't have to pay inflated prices.
Hickock45, you are more than just our internet shooting companion- you are a firearms legend and a mentor. I and so many others have learned an unbelievable amount about guns in general, during the time that we have watched you. We really have been blessed to have you show us guns that not all of us can acquire...but thanks to your natural talent as a teacher- we understand their history and proper operation. Sometimes when watching your videos- I feel like I am back in school...lol. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and love of firearms with us over the years.
It is so enjoyable to watch you shoot revolvers, especially one handed. People can see and feel the joy that you have for the SAA revolvers, as well as the Model 29 S&W dual action revolvers.. It epitomizes why we love guns,- they are works of art that has kept this country free of tyranny. Keep the videos coming Hickok45.
Good advice to young people, sir. So many of them have no one to give them good advice these days. Sad, but true. They are lucky to have you. Stay safe with all that is going on in your part of the country.
"This is the greatest handgun ever made", Well if this were 1873 I would say yes, but this being 2021 guns have come a long way, and in today's World we have different guns for different purposes, yes the 1873 was a big step up from the cat & ball guns.
@Parasite House The problem here is you are talking about stupid video games and I am talking about the Real World, I have lived in the real world all of my life, and you should start living here too . ( :
Happy the dogs get me up early to go out they know when Hickok posts another great video and also happy y’all ok over there after the terrible tornadoes
Good to hear your behind your press. I start reloading in 1985. My dad taught me and he started in 1965 about the same age as when I started. It's great that Federal ammunition sponsor's you. They are a great company. I use thier primers whenever possible. They work better on my milsurp firearms that have weak springs. The Federal primers are always my go to. I still have at least 2 cases of each size and type of primers. I have sold some to friends at the normal price. I'm not going to gouge my friends. If I paid $150 a case well $30 a brick is what I would hook them up with. I stopped when I hit 2 cases each. I bought 20 5 gallon buckets of range scrap and smelted it down to lead and copper. I make ingots out of both and the copper pays for my powder and primers and powder coating supplies. I built my own kiln to melt the copper down and bought 2 5 lb and 2 1 lb graphite molds. It makes for a fun weekend and I get all the neighborhood kids come over and watch. Of course I'm outside and I make the kids stand back and upwind. I even get a few adults that were interested in reloading. I say were because I have already taught them how to reload. I have taught 5 of my neighbors how to shoot and put them through the basic NRA class. It's a very safe block in the neighborhood. We call ourselves the Benton street shooting club. All 5 of us belong to the same pistol club. It feels good to be able to help them out. Sorry to go on and on about my crap. I love it that you have the 3 single action revolvers in succeeding serial numbers. There was a guy in Denver that had a huge single action collection that he had on display at his gunstore. I bought my Inland M1A1 carbine from him. Anyway he had 5 I think engraved succeeding serial number Colt SAA from a long time ago. I don't remember when. I doubt he is still open he was in his 60's 22 years ago. We have done a lot of swapping.
Weekend is now complete. Watching Hickok45 videos always do my heart good. Thank you Hickok for all you do for the shooting community. More Americana history is always something to be refreshed daily.
i love Uncle Hickok's stories... both my grandpa's are dead and they only spoke Spanish (i never learned because my dad didn't want his kids to have an accent, and be 100% American). Listening to Hickok is like learning life lessons from the Grandpa I never had.
my husband watches your videos. i came in while he was watching this episode.i truly enjoyed your talking about being stopped by the police, and what you need to do. i would love to see that part put in a video, that could be shared. so many people need to see and hear this information.. again i thank you. also my husband has a 45 70 marlin that he loves. and a springfield trap door. thank you for entertaining my husband
I get that zen feeling working on cars/trucks. When a child, I first experienced it (zen feeling) when I bought my first 1858 Army cap and ball revolver from a guy working at Columbia, California (Historic State Park) at a mine store. Hi name was Gil. Just so happened he was a black powder national champion. First shot with a .357 Mag was a 125 grain jacketed hollow point from Remington (premium stuff) out of an old Model 28 Smith. Oh, the muzzle blast was so impressive. We appreciate the full length videos discussing the history and mechanics. Shorts are great for ADHD people and those addicted to other social media. We're actually interested in learning.
Greg, it's OK to be yourself, and we appreciate all the experience you are willing to impart! I have reloading supplies that haven't been used for 40+ years but my powder is still dry and tables are @ the ready. All I can add is that we need to be at the ready and Engaged!
Single actions I have discovered are a lot of fun. I have a Ruger wrangler and I have had a tremendous amount of fun shooting it. I first bought it because it was inexpensive and the ammo is not bad either. I like to take a little time and enjoy loading and shooting it. I like to call it lead Therepy. I also enjoy spending time with my reloading press but I’m new to reloading about two years now. I have just a few calibers that I load. I live in North Carolina but I was born in Tennessee, I also enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for you spending time with us.
I’m in the same boat as far as reloading. I’m a binge loader as well and haven’t loaded in at least 5 years. I def don’t look forward to setting up the Lee turret again but it’s going to happen eventually. I’m going to have to take my 1873 Uberti to the range for a session as it’s been a hot minute. Love these videos. Thank you.
That is a beautiful gun. Love seeing the Colt single action. When shooting our former trapdoor we used really light black powder loads. It was really fun to time travel.
Yeah, I don't care how many thousands of 9mm and 5.56 rounds a person shoots, he's just not really experienced the best of what the firearms world has to offer until he's experienced these classic firearms.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments on how to deal with good police officers just trying to do their job. Having had a nephew and brother in law enforcement, and having a son now going on 24 years as an officer and a grandson that graduates from the state police academy this week, I see the honorable side of the profession.
Great Video I love your common since… on police matters… I have worked in communications… with public safety for 45 years. You hit the nail on the head. Police see the worst in human behavior… then you screw up driving and get pulled over… you just need to stay calm and do what they ask…. Put yourself in their shoes..
Listening while I'm cutting up meat and all the veggies for a Crock Pot slow cooker thing. This was one of the Best Sunday Shoot A Rounds I've seen and heard yet. Take Care.
Great piece of target work there Mr Hickcok 45, really blown away the way you blew it away, great video you sure have some wonderful weapons, the only thing we can have here in the UK without a licence is an air rifle and to correct my self some of the more powerful ones require a gun licence how mad is that; perhaps it's because the ones in charge feel scared we would chase them out of town lol. Hope you John and the family all have a safe and happy Christmas and that your new year is even better for you all; stay safe stay well MANCHESTER UK.
Very active! As much as we enjoy watching and learning we wish you to stay healthy. I am wondering if practicing shooting has any impact on joints ( arthritis...etc) from overuse. Wish you the Best .
I went shooting for the first time in many years in 2020. Two days later I was in the hospital with a 1/4” kidney stone that released its perch in my kidney. Blocked the outlet and damn near exploded my kidney. As much as I enjoyed my shoot with the boys, I am now truly gun shy.
I believe that the process of adding things to soft lead bullets to make them harder came about with the onset of smokeless powder and metallic cartradges. As you know smokeless powder generates a lot more pressure and velocity then black powder does. Who came up with the idea where or when it was actually done what year I couldn't tell you. And I'm not real sure about adding tin. Although it dose add some hardness it is used mostly for mold fill out. Yes I know this because I cast my own. Even for my AR 15. Great channel keep up the great work! Oh almost forgot the Colt SAA is my all time dream gun! Alas I'm stuck with champagne taste and a Pabst Blue Ribbon wallet!
You definitely made my day today. Any time I see a Colt single action I get excited. Thank you for sharing with us this morning, life is good. I missed the song this morning, lol
Nothing like a good Sunday shoot around after a good Sunday church service. I ordered a heavy duty safe 6 months ago and I've basically forgotten about it as well.
The single action is the handgun you never get tired of shooting or just handling, never to forget the TV westerns from the late 50's and 60's. The new model Ruger Blackhawk convertible in .45acp/Colt has provided many hours of reloading and shooting pleasure, not to mention the number of target, hunting, and self-defense load possibilities between these two great cartridges.
The original Colt .45 cartridge cartridge case although suitable for revolver use was not rimmed adequately to allow for repeating long rifle use due to difficulty for claw extractor to grip from chamber. Had the case been delivered then as improvements in intervening years have morphed it into it would have been an even more popular loading. The revolver utilized a hand activated push pin type of ejector system not subject to rim robustness. Today the shooting public can enjoy the benefits of his wheel gun an long gun in the wonderful .45 Colt cartridge.
Coming in late but always a good time I hate to say it but I hope it gets cold again so we have another Sunday SIT around in the reloading room lol it's nice to see the inside of the room especially since you have done a amazing job getting it tidy
Thank you for all the great videos over the years. My favorites are when you just sit around on the porch and shoot the breeze with others. I was just curious if you have a fan favorite list and if you do where is it I cant find one, if not we got to get busy working on it.
Mr Hickok 45 Sir hope one day I get to see you, John, and Davy shooting there 1873 SAA at the same time. That to me anyway would be amazing to see! Thanks for all you do!!
100% agree with the sentiment toward police officers. Do what you are told. If you have a problem with the outcome, deal with it in court where no one is concerned for their life or safety.
Just common sense. Even people who have been brainwashed into thinking we don't need police and that police are out to get them need to keep this in mind. Why on earth would anybody want to start a confrontation with somebody who is armed and concerned about HIS life, too.
@@hickok45 With the possibility of an active shooter or other person actively commiting a crime; any armed individual should be complied with. A law abiding individual has a responsibility to protect the gun even to the point of deadly force. Seems nowdays, he will be arrested, charged and maybe convicted but if he allows the gun to be taken, worse may well happen.
Hickok, in my typical overthinker fashion, in reference to the Davy Colts. What happens when young Davy Hickok has a Davy Hickok Jr. ? I think you should have bought at least one, maybe even two extra Colt SAA’s. 🤔💭😉🤷🏻🙂 Those Colt SAA’s will probably be on a assault weapons ban list because of magazine/ cylinder capacity by that time… Oh, and great SSA episode as always! 👊🏻
Thanks for the voice of reason. My woke relative blames me every time there’s an illegal shooting, defying all logic, using phraseology like “you gun nuts.” I asked him if he felt complicit in the SUV driver who drive into a parade, since he drives an SUV. He didn’t even get it. Also, great advice about following cop directions. When I get stopped I turn on the dome light and clamp both hands at the top of the wheel where he can see them, and answer “yes, officer” and “no, officer.” Nobody wants a nervous LEO.
Single actions are just so enjoyable..when I saw you with the catleman I just had to have one .I'm also very interested in civil war firearms and the history. Some of the things I read that stick out at me ,talking about the carnage, is how people were thinking at the time oh there's going to be a battle up the road let's have a picnic and go watch not understanding the horrors of war
There is a way to carry a SAA safely with SIX cartridges in the cylinder. However, you must take a special action. It is dangerous to have a live round under the hammer and there is not enough room between the case heads to lower the hammer and firing pin between two cartridges. I have an 1851 Navy colt that has small pins on the back of the cylinder between chambers on which you lower the hammer with all 6 chambers loaded. This is safe in the Navy and it gave me the idea of how to do the same thing with the SAA. Simply take a small triangular file and file a small notch in the rims of two cartridges. Then carefully load the gun making sure that the two cartridges are in adjacent chambers with the cartridges rotated until the two notches are next to each other, leaving room for the firing pin to fit into the notches.
Run the music boss or sing who care what anyone says friend keep doin what you love and make n absolutely amazing content. Been watchin for years wanna say thank you for all you guys do and hope you and you are all well and blessed God Bless you! 🇺🇸
I have been looking for a 1860 Springfield .58 cal. kit to build one myself. Love the old firearms and even the replicas you can't go wrong either way.
Ah what a gentlemen, I shot my colt 45 this week 🇺🇸 150 rounds love ❤️ it 2 gen , I also have Eagle grip’s walnut. I never miss the bullseye 🎯 great 👍 videos 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great off hand revolver accuracy on display here. Pistol powder tends to be faster burning rates to maximize relatively short barrel lengths. To slow would result in velocity loss due to powder burning in atmosphere exiting muzzle. Proper land/grove dimensions for bullet diameter important for imparting stability in flight for bullet ballistic characteristics. Proper twist rate for intended bullets as well. After exit of barrel the effects of air resistance and gravity impinge upon projectile as well as prevailing cross wind conditions. The expert shootist knows to “ dope “ for these factors to place in the ten ring at practical distances. “ there was forty feet between them when they stopped to make their play” Martin Robbins, Glendale Arizona, “ big iron “. Early metallic cases were oft made of softish copper. The soldiers at the battle of Little Big Horn discovered to much consternation that the Trap Door Springfield could extraction process tear through rim leaving gun essentially inoperable. In the heat of battle not the most desirable condition. Ambergris upon cartridge exterior could result in excessive drag for removal from chamber. Especially while still hot from firing process.
I’m meeting my 401k and HSA goals right now in my 30’s. It gives me immense piece of mind as I work to finish off student loan debt and build our savings (my wife and I). It also keeps us from buying lots of stupid things we don’t need. We’ve passed up offers on a few new car deals and also stayed in our perfectly comfortable cheap college apartment a couple years longer while I get out of debt. By the time the debt is gone in the next three years, we’ll have at least $3,000 a month in savings on top of my retirement. Savings are on hold until then, but we have a good rainy day fund that has already covered our medical emergencies. Since I have a progressive disease that may disable me in the next few decades, I’ve put a big emphasis on health and financial preparation NOW. But the same logic should apply to everyone. Clawing your way out of debt, saving, and investing in retirement gets less and less possible as you wait. It’s never too early to grow up, put aside the silly things, and build your future.

Hard to believe it’s been 5 years already Hickok… love the one piece sambar. Just recently picked up my 3rd colt saa. Best handgun in the world!
Coming in late but always a good time I hate to say it but I hope it gets cold again so we have another Sunday SIT around in the reloading room lol it's nice to see the inside of the room especially since you have done a amazing job getting it tidy
I love the long videos Bill. Thank you 🙏
Hickok the man that can hit anything with anything
Jeff Quinn! He was a great man. And a great friend. I miss him.
Prayers for the folks over in mayfield, drove up there yesterday, town is leveled

God Bless you Hickok45. Merry Christmas.
As a retired Officer, I thank you for the Police comments. Best wishes, xCop
Agreed!
Thank you for all the great videos over the years. My favorites are when you just sit around on the porch and shoot the breeze with others. I was just curious if you have a fan favorite list and if you do where is it I cant find one, if not we got to get busy working on it.
Send the Dillon in for refurbishment, typically only have to pay for shipping. Just say NO to debt - Dave Ramsey for the win!!
Well HICKOCK 45 I'm glad I could help today...lol..... thanks for the video........keep on keepin on.......00TG from Illinois.....
i can watch your videos all day. Ive watched for hours. I love Tennessee. I wish I could move out of California and be there..
Another great video. Keep up the good work Hickok45!
Mr Hickok 45 Sir hope one day I get to see you, John, and Davy shooting there 1873 SAA at the same time. That to me anyway would be amazing to see! Thanks for all you do!!
That would be pretty cool. I'll try to eat my veggies and stay healthy long enough for that. :-)
I watched every video to the end from start to end cause the content is worth it and with the time to listen and watch
You are also the best gun channel.
Three generations of Colts three generations of Hickok45 life is good 👍
I always love watching your video's. Please keep up the GOOD WORK!
Hickok, in my typical overthinker fashion, in reference to the Davy Colts. What happens when young Davy Hickok has a Davy Hickok Jr. ? I think you should have bought at least one, maybe even two extra Colt SAA’s. 🤔💭😉🤷🏻🙂
Those Colt SAA’s will probably be on a assault weapons ban list because of magazine/ cylinder capacity by that time… Oh, and great SSA episode as always! 👊🏻
I would imagine by the time little "Davy" has an offspring, MY Davy Colt will be available, probably long before. :-)
@@hickok45 Now that is sound logic, Hickok! I didn’t even think of it in that context…🤯🤷🏻 You nailed it though! 👍🏻
your the best hickok ☺️💯💯🤞🏾colt shooter !
Hey 45- have a great week!! Thanks for another great shootaround
Just recently acquired my first Colt SAA….hooked on the old guns :)
That it, I want to live in America ! 🇺🇲

“ there was forty feet between them when they stopped to make their play”
Martin Robbins, Glendale Arizona, “ big iron “.
I really enjoyed today's video sir. Gosh ,keep up the great shooting and Great commentary.......00TG from Illinois.......
Top of the morning
