Learned unix system management (now MacOS) and tcip networks from books. Then, as a geologist, I figured out lidar processing from books! Forgotten your birthday Hickok, but I was born on Halloween that year!

I was and am still a musician who can dish, kill rooms as we say. But I'm an ER veterinarian, and long ago were my touring days. I live now amongst talented legendary cohorts and play when asked to. I set boundaries with my primary contact in that community early on when the world bent South: 'we are not going to discuss politics (etc)'. I've been lucky so far, but on occasion the others forget. That's when to practice the fine art of demurral, deflection. You're a gem. Keen eye, bud. Thanks for all.
Yeah, I can imagine what you've seen and the stories you could tell. A couple of my literary heroes are Emerson and Thoreau. If I could travel through time and have dinner with them, I might just think better of it and not do it. I'd just as soon keep them on that pedestal. :-)

It was based on your review that I purchased the Uberti Cattleman .22, which has an amazing 12 round capacity. Great gun, if a little heavy, due to the super thick barrel (for a .22 bore) and a cylinder that's not chambered in .45.
I got to meet Paul Harrell this week in a town near me and it was a pleasure to visit with him. I am starting to get into Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) and it has been fun to do and so many nice people with fun shooting in common. I am your age and it is neat to see the age range in CAS. I was probably more excited to win my first belt buckle than the 1st place shooters. A cool buckle for "Dead Ass Last". Boonville Regulators CAS group are a very nice group of folks that shoot every weekend. It is still difficult for me to believe that it is possible to shoot four guns and 24 rounds in 17 seconds even though I watch some do it. I am learning a lot watching Jed iTV on YT although he only shoots black powder in his CAS guns.

My first job was at service merchandise in California in the early 1980s. I demonstrated the Commodore VIC 20 in the Sight & Sound department. What a poorly run store (lots of theft)! Still, it was fun and as an 18 year old, I managed to exploit the employee discount to the hilt.😁

One of my best firearm achievements is the set of one piece Stagg grips I made for my Uberti 1873. Little bit of slop honestly, but not enough to stop me from using them!❤
Bought the new Python and was instantly pissed with the loose rear sight problem. Wilson Combat stepped up and produced some awesome sights for it. It’s expensive but quality. New rear sight is perfectly tight. Recommend the modification 👍🇺🇸

I don't know, I have a few 17's and 617's that only hold 6 rounds, I've been around them since the 1970's and have always been able to shoot them until I'm out of ammo. I guess the reloading is part of the fun/routine of the six shooter. I do have modern autos that hold an eternities worth of ammo, and I like that too, but no more than firing a quality older firearm. thanks for the vid, Hickok, John.

At one time in the 80s l would practice double action at 50 yards, my targets were fired 22LR hulls setting about a foot apart on the berm. Got to the point of 4/5 disappeared. 3" 44spl 5 shot.

Oh you are so right! I use to go up onto the BLM lands in Western Colorado and shoot into canyons with pistols! Its amazing how far you can get hits consistently ! And so much fun! Or you wouldnt believe the shots you can make on prairie dogs with a .22 pistol. So i have understanding of what you are talking of.
Hickok i have just recently purchased a 590a1 . I was wanting to know how stiff the action was straight out of the box on urs ....now i am no stranger to shotguns especially pumps i have 4 870s one is a wing master and the other is a wilson combat and the other 2 are police and tactical all have functioned flawlessly for as long as i have had them and 3 i purchased new right out of the box and were fairly smooth ...i have 2 mossberg 590s not the a1 and they were sorta stiff out of the box but not as stiff as the a1 which i have smoothed up a ton since i tore it down and cleaned it and lubed with some hopps 9 oil and ballistol and shooting and cycling but just wanted to know how stiff urs was any one else who has bought a new 590 can chime in to

Awesome video both colts. I bought the new colt king cobra 3 inch no adjustable rear sight its okliked the old ones better. I clean my firearms every time i shot. Glocks also if I fire a few through them I still clean them well.I have a polytech legend I clean it through and ars .

Always find it funny how they want to protect people so bad they use violence against people who did nothing to anyone. Because that is ultimately what it means when something is banned, the mere possession of an inanimate object is now deemed ok to use violence against you.
Good point, and in many cases, that's what we're up against; however, there is quite a large percentage of the population who are simply not exposed to firearms or people who enjoy them. Most of their information about firearms come to them from the news reports, which is definitely not good. We can give them a more realistic look at what gun ownership is about. They just need to know some normal people who happen to own guns. That goes a long way, I think.
Nothing like listening to the Sunday Shoot-a-round while driving to a 6am hockey session. Life is good.

Just got a new gun yesterday, a Rock Island VR40 12 gauge pump , pretty awesome looking shotgun, I love it, it's, it's, it's so beautiful.
I’ve had my colt 22 for about three weeks and after I tweaked the sights a bit I can hit a 12” gong at 100 yards with ease, it’s a looker for sure.

20 years ago, I could find used guns in nice condition for $200 or less. I looked it up. I paid 175 for my side by side 10ga.

Always find it funny how they want to protect people so bad they use violence against people who did nothing to anyone. Because that is ultimately what it means when something is banned, the mere possession of an inanimate object is now deemed ok to use violence against you.

Good point, and in many cases, that's what we're up against; however, there is quite a large percentage of the population who are simply not exposed to firearms or people who enjoy them. Most of their information about firearms come to them from the news reports, which is definitely not good.
We can give them a more realistic look at what gun ownership is about. They just need to know some normal people who happen to own guns. That goes a long way, I think.
