Thank you sir. Part of old age is the responsibility to share the wisdom you’ve amassed over the years.
I agree, but somebody has a famous line about how the wisdom of experience is incommunicable to youth. Something like that.
We tend to have to learn from "the bite of the fire" in order for things to sink in with us. :-)
The M14 is a pure classic. I am lucky enough to own one, and love to get it out and give it some work on a range day.
In MD I heard that M-14 is illegal to owned! We had military base and not many military refile around.
@@johnmadow5331 just about everything in Maryland is illegal. You can’t even buy a handgun without a “permit” aka the state decides if you were a good boy or not. In Delaware they just outlawed the sale and transfer of “assault weapons” aka anything holding more than a single round at a time… not to mention the possession of any magazine holding more than 17 rds rifle or handgun is an auto felony, house raided and rights/guns stolen…
As a MD resident I certainly hope that's not true because I'd been wanting to add one to my collection eventually.
That's what freedom sounds like... If we can keep it. Happy day, Hickok!
I trained on an m14 in basic training. Wonderful weapon.
I qualified in Basic with the M14 at dear old Ft. Polk. Great rifle.
No offense or anything, but that was so long ago, times change so quick. I thought I we were gonna learn to drill with one in boot camp, but I’ve still yet to see one in person. I’m thankful the m4 is light
@@jasonsolis5416 oh yeah man, that was in 1965 when I was in basic at Ft Ord. I know that they're heavier and all but it's still a great weapon. I've only shot a civilian model of the m16, sweet.
Hey someone I agree with! My uncle carried an m1 and swore by it, it won the war some say. The m16 was probably better for Nam I guess that you would know way more than me. Thank you for doing your time in McNamaras illegal war. He should be charged for war crimes! Have you ever shot an m1? What a solid weapon.
@pat eastes- YEP, same here- Ft Polk, Feb 1967. M14 for sure.
Even when you have "trouble talking today", you speak with more clarity than any politician or public official. Perhaps because you speak from the heart, eh? Another great SSA.
We need people like him in Congress.
Amen! Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY : )

@@hanc37 Yea, but George Washington had to be asked 3 times.... don't think Hickok would no matter how many times they asked (could be wrong!)... but yea, would be a good thing to have some heart in the WH
@@hanc37 No we don't. He is all for gun control. Do some Google research on him.

I lived in the big lie that’s the Standard American Diet or SAD until 4 years ago (I’m 56 now) when I started low carb, no starchy veggies and no grain. I lost 85 pounds then took up powerlifting and have never felt better. Great shootin and great show as always. Thanks for the talk.
Next month I will be sober for 45 years. One day at a time.
Keep lifting! It's super important for us as we age!
Hello Hicock. I also own a USGI. Original M14.NM. Truly Purchased Before the 1968 Gun Control Act. Became law in 69. Many National Match M14.NM. Rifles were found as sold by the government. So the Amnesty of 68/69. Took place. No Charge for the Transfer Tax or paper Work. No police chief Signed the form four’s either!! But mine was a police trade in. Model 14/21. Walnut USGI Stock Was Kevlar Epoxy Innpregnation done Perfectly Moisture Free. American Black Walnut Epoxy Finished & Bisonite Epoxy Bedded Stock
I love the M14/M1A Rifles. I find them very easy to control on full auto and have never come across any Soldiers or Marines like myself that had any trouble with flying the Weapon at all. That nonsense is a constant lie that was put forth by those who wanted to sell the Weapon AR-15 16 too the government!! My full auto M1ANM. Has been shooting since 1984. Too 2022.
No better way to start a Sunday than with Mr. Hickok. Happy Independence Day my fellow Patriots. God bless America!! 🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓
What a great 4th of july video
Happy Independence Day Hickok 45, "my fellow Americans", & everyone else in "The Land of The Free and Home of the Brave"🇺🇸.
Stay awesome you freedom loving gun enthusiasts.
No more land of the free! Red flag laws by traitor GOP worthless. No supplies - look at that transportation failure buttigieg. Such a failure country by traitors - and nothing being done.

IMO The M-14 is the most aesthetically pleasing of all the service rifles. It's just beautiful to look at.
Agreed.
M1 Garland, the magazine ruins the aesthetic on the m14 even though it's a better rifle.
@@xscorpx On the contrary, I think the magazine makes it perfect.
Agreed sir, with enthusiasm! I have never owned one, but I want one. I want a forged one however and they are expensive.
sunday morning shoot around before church.... WOOOOOOOO!
Funny you mentioned that family tragedy, I lost my dad a few months ago, please appreciate time with your loved ones and thank them for everything they've done, dad and I used to watch your videos together, he used to own many of the old model's you've shown, thanks for everything and your life advice, god bless and happy 4th !
You "talked me into" a scout squad version a few years ago. It's still one of my favorites
I’d still rather the tanker or the Socom 16 versions. I like the shorter barrels on the M1a.
Really seems like a do-all rifle.
@@rob6850 do-all and best looking.only downside is it’s 308 (which isn’t bad) but it’s LOUD. Like very loud
My brother also. What a badass rifle!!!
@@travd2957 yes, everyone at the range always stops and looks when ya start popping off rounds.
Still amazed that this rifle, despite being "replaced" decades ago, is still soldiering on by our military forces, albeit in a limited role. Hope to one day be able to pick up the M1A Scout model.
The FN FAL is also serving as the Primary Rifle of other Armies as well.
@@joeruiz4010 Not surprising since there were millions produced and it's still a very serviceable battle rifle. Another good .308 rifle was the G3. I saw a surprising number of them when I was deployed during Desert Shield and Storm.
I don't think they would be using it if they didn't have so many of them laying around.
imagine if we actually lived in the United States of America as founded, and they would have surplused all of those rifles out when they switched, they most likely would have used an AR-10 platform instead...
That's what SHOULD happen...
Instead, the military destroys surplus items so that we don't get them, and no one says a thing about it....
The country I live in today doesn't deserve to call itself the United States of America, and we the apathetic people don't deserve to call ourselves Americans.
Love my SA M1A! Happy 4th 🇺🇸, Hickok and John! Keep the Faith!
Happy Independence Day and thank you for teaching us your knowledge.
As a veteran you are correct, the m-14 is and has been my favorite rifle since 1970…
Been a sub and a avid watcher for many years now. I remember your old glock vids getting ne started in buying/collecting firearms. I have spent countless hours watching and listening to you. Hickok, you'll never truly know how positively influential you have been to many including me. I absolutely love the history you incorporate into your videos along with the pure entertainment. I truly appreciate the years of content and look foward to many more. Thank you for being a positive name an face for the gun community here on youtube.
I have to watch you regardless if it's a holiday weekend to start my week off right!!!
I don’t want no teenage queen, I just want my M14, if I die in the combat zone, box me up and ship me home, pin my medals upon my chest, tell my mom I’ve done my best. 🎶
Been watching your videos for a couple years now never commented before. Thank you for the education and stories and wisdom of gun craft, And gun ethics! Your getting older glad your still around people like this are a dying breed thank you!
this Holiday was made possible by citizens with guns. Happy Independence Day!
I used the m14. Marines 1965 to 1969. I always thought this was the perfect rifle
Waking up watching Hickock shoot guns, Life is good 👍
Springfield M1A, got one April 2021. One rifle I definitely don't regret buying and will never sell. Happy 4th of July hickock
Ahh... A dose of sanity.
Just enjoy your videos! God bless America and happy birthday AMERICA!
my grandpa had one of the few m14's in our country and he was allowed to hunt with it but only at certain times of the year
i hope you have a great 4th of july over there tomorrow, greetings from netherlands
Great way to start the day. Thanks Hickok!
Very nice M-14. LRB used a lot of GI parts. I have a Fulton Armory version, I bought their barreled action with stripped bolt and a parts kit from the CMP, had a WWII Marine vet gunsmith assemble it. It's high on my list of last guns I would ever sell, but at age 75 with no children there will come a time when it all goes.
I'm up for adoption...😁😁😁
Since you have nobody to leave your guns to, maybe designate some younger people you have met to receive specific firearms. If you do this while you're alive, you can make certain they will go to people who appreciate them and will take care of them. Just a thought.
An M1A, Ballistol, and Hickock 45. Just doesn’t get any more Fudd than that. Gotta love it.
So much truth spoken.
Thank you Hickok!!
Carried one in Vietnam for 10months before handing me an M16. Loved that rifle, heavy to carry but a real beauty.
Love your videos and your humor! The hilarious finish when the “ light comes on “ with the videos in the can is great!
Glad to see you celebrating In the FREE state of Tennessee!! Hoping to join your beautiful state very soon for my retirement!!
Sure do enjoy your show. What a wonderful M14 ,it served me well and got me home alive and well. Thank you very much!!!
This man is a national treasure for firearms. Very knowledgeable and polite demeanor makes him a easy success. Hard telling how many videos I’ve watched of his. And watched a lot of them several times. God bless hickock 45.
My daughter uses a device that carbonates regular drinking water and it is ready anytime she wants it. Initial expense and maintenance but two seconds and you have a 32oz bottle of carbonated water that came from your tap. Then, you can add a flavoring if you like. I add a couple drops of lemon juice.
I carried an M14 in the funeral procession for President Harry Truman as a member of the USAF. We marched for a ways, stood at attention in the front and ended in the back yard of the Truman Library where he was laid to rest. December of 1973. I was stationed at Richards Gebaur AFB, Belton, MO at the time. It was an honor to serve.
I met the folks at LRB back in 1998. I had to transfer my M1 Garand that I just purchased from a Connecticut gun show, to a NY dealer (LRB), the State where I reside. He had a small shop in Bellerose, NY (Long Island), and now works out of Floral Park. He collected M14's, and had a great respect for the rifle. It's no wonder he takes the time to forge and mill his receivers, the old fashioned way. They won't let me have one as it's part of the NYC assault rifle ban. Well, I'll just have to "settle" for my M1 (ping) Garand. Happy 4th of July! Thanks!
Amen! Thanks for another great Sunday Shootaround! Such wisdom! Happy Fourth everyone ! Happy birthday America!
I'm a faithful subscriber, and will always be, without doubt!
Love you guys! Keep posting please!
I am so glad you enjoy your retirement educators like you have been a positive influence on so many and you continue today and I hope you continue for many years
Such a beautiful rifle. One of the all time great’s.
To my brother Hickok, I lost my wife 6 yrs 4 mouths ago to cancer and there is not a day that I do not think of her. 32 years in the making. So I do understand of how you feel. Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC. Love you bro !!
Love the M-14. One issued to me in Army, February, 1968 and preferred carrying it and considered it superior to the M-16. A great Sniper rifle!
My friend was a class 3 dealer and I got to fire 2 of his pre Vietnam select fire M14s, what a magnificent rifle.

I just love the sound of the gong!!!! Happy birthday America 🇺🇸 !!! Watching from Trumbull County, Ohio
Wouldn't miss it. Happy Sunday! Happy Independence! God Bless America!
Remember well carrying that M-14 in US Army Ranger school, 1968. On patrol training it was dutifully fastened to Ranger candidate bodies by an approx 1 meter length of parachord. Night patrols always brought about the most memorable moments. Hearing the Ranger in front of you scream out as you lost sight of his Ranger tabs, the two luminous tape strips on the back of his patrol cap. You know there is excitement ahead, you just can’t see it, when you suddenly are propelled into black space, all arms, legs and M-14. That M-14 was the ultimate punisher in cases like this, because attached to you it arrived at the crash site milleseconds after. And it was heavy, hard, merciless steel and wood. Punishing lumps that no M-16 could ever match…😅
Hey Greg,
Good choice, served '69-72 and the M14 was a great rifle.
Thanks again for all your videos!
Another great video. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful firearm. The M14 is a wonderful piece of technology and you look great doing some bowling (pins) followed by the sweet sound of your awesome gong. Let freedom ring! Happy 4th of July weekend! 🎉🇺🇸🎉
Hickok, hope you and John have a great 4th of July! 🎇 Great episode! 👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻
Always wanted an m14/m1a, some day I'll add one to the collection. Beautiful rifle. Keep up the good work Hickok 👍
Happy 4th thank you for doing what you and John do to share and teach us about Fire arms life is good !
The best Sunday show on UA-cam. Forget Meet the Press, Fox Sunday, or Face the Nation, or CBS Sunday Morning even with their 30 second nature video at the end. Period. Bar none.
Thanks Hickok and John. Happy independence Day Guys. "Life is good."
H45 spreading much-needed knowledge. 💪🏻🇺🇸🐐
Good morning Sr 🙏 God bless you and America 🇺🇸 be safe and keep doing what you do 😊
Thankful that I had the opportunity to stand in formations with men brave and true.
Thanks Hickock45 and Happy Independence Day!
I live in rural KY. At the farmer's market, there is a little old 77 year old Sicilian immigrant, from Catania Sicilia. She makes the best bread, no preservatives so you have to eat it before 60 hours lapses. Get olive oil and dip it, it's good that way, or actually cook an Italian meal to use the bread with. I do not care, I will always support that little old Sicilian immigrant lady and her delicious food.

Happy 4th of July to you and John, god bless your family on our day of independence 🇺🇸
I pray nothing happens to either of you for a long time but if something would I think you would find how much we all appreciate it that you still put stuff out that you have filmed and created for your fans
I was a unit sniper in my National Guard Unit in the 70's. The M-14 was my assigned weapon. It had a side mounted scope on it.
Verry accurate firearm.
Happy fourth Hickok you and your son are making the world a happier place with these videos and I just wanted to say thank you
Love that M14 sweet! Thank you Hickok for sharing your knowledge and kindness with us all.
Loved the M-14 ,,, took it to Vietnam in 1965 .... I was a AR man in the squad and carried the A2 full auto with bipod and pistol grip .... We could lay down a solid base of fire ...
Thank you for this vid. I carried an M14 in Vietnam. Kept me alive. Own a semi auto version now. I love them.
Thank you for your service sir, and God bless.
I was in Army basic training during the transition period M14 to M16, so I was able to use both. I prefer the M14.
Happy 4th to you, John and the family! America 🇺🇸 land of the free….life is good!
I love Seltzer as well. A couple years ago I bought a Soda Stream. I highly recommend getting one if you like fizzy water.
We have one, we got as a gift, we have never used it, we need to pull that thing out of the box.
I have all ways love you my brother, and that is no lie, for I have walked into the valley depth for many years of my life and you are always the best thing since slice bread. Love you my brother. Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.
Howdy Hickok, my LCR only hold 5 but practice makes perfect …
The best thing is there’s no lint, dust that gives me issues….
Thank You Sir….
WhoYah happy 4th of July it's always a pleasure to see you and your show I don't always get the time but I enjoy your show you're highly appreciated and all the information and wisdom that you impart on everybody thank you .
Happy 4th!!! Of course I’m gonna watch! My favorite 🔫 channel on UA-cam! By far! Would have loved to have a father like you!
I own both the Springfield M1 Garand and a Springfield M1A and I love them both. dependable and great shooters to boot.
Nice selection for your video. The M14 is one of my favorite rifles. “LIFE IS GOOD” your friend Dan from Jersey, “Defending the 2nd”🗽🦅🇺🇸👍
Love all your vids. Thank you for being so generous with your time, knowledge, and thoughts. To answer your question about the mental health issue; specifically hospitalization, in my opinion we messed up. It started in California (no surprise) while Reagan (surprise) was governor. I believe the consequences were unintended. What happened was the synergy between Reagan's financial cuts to mental health and the ACLU making arguments for the civil liberty of the seriously mentally ill. We ended up closing hospitals, decreasing the amount of time someone could be held for long-term treatment/care, releasing many very ill people into communities where they'd likely never live well, provided the ill with less than adequate care/supervision, etc. The unintended consequences include pushing the issue off onto law enforcement (incredibly unfair to our LEO's & mentally ill) and we turned our county jails into defacto mental hospitals. Based on data that is available to me, over 30% of calls for service in LE are mental health related. My answer? We need long term care (possibly involuntary) for the seriously mentally ill who cannot adapt to life on their own and until a time that they can truly care for themselves. It's a greater good argument that many of us on the personal liberty side often argue against but I don't see another way around it.
Happy 4th, Hickok! Enjoyed seeing you shoot the 642. I’ve got the 442 and I’m inspired seeing you hit 20 yards with yours. “Loving every minute of it!” :)
Interesting take on "old designs" , wheels finger ect. I've shot the National Match M-14s and own an M-1A. All good guns and fun to shoot! Thanks for the video.
Was a trucker for 30 years. Carried a Glock 26 w/ 17+2, magazine. Decided a 5 shot .357 looked a bit more DEFENSIVE.
Happy fourth of July to you Mr Hickok 45 and your family. Live free, life is good.
A really sweet shooting rifle! Went through Basic Training with the M1 and Advanced Individual Training with the M14. Even fired in competition with one. Loved it!
I love your content sir. I'm from Canada and have spent a bit of time in Tennessee. Bloody good people and love the countryside. Happy 4th to you all.
Most of the time I mix I got a cup with 12 oz worth of Coke and then it's still up the restway with the water. That way I get my bubbles and I still get my water so I say hydrated I also love the sound of a M14 on the action. It sounds solid. Well made and like a tank. Hey that's all I got to say. Have a good weekend!🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey Hickok45, great content and shooting video as always. Thank you for doing these every Sunday. Happy 4th of July to you and the family and please stay safe.💥🇺🇸💥
Whenever I go to the VA for a doctor appointment, they always ask me if I have guns in the house and how I'm feeling, I never tell them I have guns because I never know where that's going to lead.
A couple of times I had that question when I checked in at the hospital or doctor's office. The form asked if I had guns in the house. I simply answered "Guns scare me." That's all I wrote. :-)
@@hickok45 exactly !
Your channel is great, thank you.
It`s a new ploy to relieve people of their firearms. Supposedly it`s up to the desecration of the doctor whether they are taken away or not. If it were to happen in many states the law says that you can get them back from the police by giving them to relative or consignment to a seller at least it won`t be a total loss but may require a lawyer.
The original "assault rifle". Beautiful piece 👍
Such a beautiful rifle. And pleasant to shoot. Sadly I was denied this pleasure by an Order in Council back in the 1990s, which made it illegal for me to possess such an historical artifact. We are under a dictatorship here, and I wish you all the best in your quest to maintain your freedoms.
Good Morning and Happy 4th of July to all of the Patriotic Americans across this great country. Thanks Hickok. Fireworks and Firearms.
Gotta love traditions.........
Keto/Low Carb has been my lifestyle for going on 4 years.
I lost an incredible 170lbs.
Crazy huh? 🤪
Confession:
I was gifted a Springfield M1 Garand from CMP and have never fired it. 😕☹️😔 Oh, the shame... Lol.
A thoroughly enjoy your videos and they are very informative and I have learned a lot of things that I didn't know about firearms from watching your videos I will have to say you are who help me make my decision to buy my M1A thank you very much
Thanks for great example of M14. Our sharpshooter on security team on ship in navy would use the M14 during security alerts and man overboard drills. Security alerts makes sense but for man overbroad drills to protect against sharks.
So very true with regard about money and narrative
Happy 4th Hickok. I'm setting here watching you on Sunday the 3rd , Just got done eating some leftover barbecue ribs from the other day just as good today as Friday when I pull them off the grill and sorry Hickok also drinking a Coca-Cola.......lol Life is good and enjoying your Sunday Shoot-a-Round.
