I run my 7.3 in Alaska. Those rare criteria you listed for the AIH to be activated are pretty much every day for me half the year. The thing is tho....I still smoke up the neighborhood for 10 mins while she warms up. I dont imagine that little heating element does much to warm the huge volume of air that engine sucks in.
the original assembly has an insulator between the two wires, the center bolt of the air heater gets power when pcm needs to warm the air. the ground from the head is grounding the heater from behind the insulator ring - brass and ceramic ring - so together makes a closed circuit to heat element. therefore- you need the ground wire with a resister from riff to absorb the current when the pcm turns the circuit on. dont use a ground to the glowplug unit, that will just create a timed delay for a fire into the future. or just cut off the heating element and use original setup but you still need the resister wire to prevent a code because the pcm needs a grounded resistance to measure, thats what the heat element provides when its getting hot.
Can you elaborate on what the install should look like for the riff cable to the glow plug unit? I think I wired it wrong. I'm getting all sorts of glow plug codes now. I did exactly what was done in this video though I extended the riffraff cable so I could ground at the bottom of the engine block where there's other grounds.
Where did the wire that you connected to the compressor come from? Getting ready to do mine until I saw this. Clueless about where the wire came from. Thanks
Dude this channel is great! I don’t typically comment on videos but I’ve saved a few of yours and clicked on your channel and was expecting this page to have several hundred thousand subscribers, you are super under-rated! Keep it up and this channel will blow up. The editing, formatting and everything is top notch! Keep the 7.3 content coming!
Austin! That means the world to me my man, thank you! It’s still a relatively new channel. I have several projects/vids in the making so more vids are coming! Thanks for the support!
About damn time for another video! 😜 👍 I’m already awesome!😂 Who the hell dislikes this stuff Yeah, I need a couple different magnet picker upper things That’s how we’re gonna do it here, too. Give our rigs to our kids. Ha! Great stuff!👍
Hey Paul! Appreciate the comments, keep ‘em coming. I will say I didn’t see a difference in the smoke but then again I put in a remanufactured engine in a short while back so that may be helping things

Yeah I agree. Imagine it was either an EPA concession of sorts or a good-idea-fairy gone wrong… either way it had to go 🤣

This was the best video yet! The best part was you calling out all the sizes and recommendations. Thanks
Super appreciate the feedback my man!
Thanks for the information
Absolutely! I appreciate the support. I hope you consider subscribing if you haven’t already.
Any new videos of 7.3 coming up soon?
That’s the intent!
Maybe I'm crazy but my rifraf aih plug is larger than my 1" deep socket. Guess I'm using an adjustable wrench!
You are correct! The Riffraff AIH is bigger then stock and if I recall I used an adjustable as well.
Thanks for the shout out, Jeff! Keep up the good work here man!
You bet!
Hey boss I have a 97 obs and we dont even have a intercooler. Do we have this sensor ? New to diesels and just got a 97 7.3
Thanks for reaching out my man. My understand is Ford placed the air intake heater on the 99.5 - 03 model years, so yours wouldn't need the delete.
@@73LiterTruckStuff thank you so much man!!!

Donnie, I purchased the code eliminator from RifRaff diesel, same site I purchased the AIH Delete plug from. Highly recommend!!
Thanks for getting back with me I appreciate the information.
Great, thanks!!!
You're welcome!
I used the code eliminator as instructed I'm still getting a code ??
