When my 16 yo son left for the summer and I found out he may not come back in the fall, all I could do is listen to this over and over. I also like the live version of Hurt. Funny how kids don't realize the impact they have on their parents. He is a good kid, and we had a lot of good times. I guess the world does go away in the end someday.
there is something majestic about reznors work that leaves me bewildered and in a state of euphoria. I honestly haven't listened to anything but NIN for the past couple years
I've grown to love Nine Inch Nails, after my boyfriend introduced them to me many years ago. There music is different and amazing and I know Trent strives for it to be that way. Now NINs has such a diverse range of Compilations from Pretty Hate Machine, With Teeth to The Ghosts Album there's something for everyone. I still can't get over the song Something I Can Never Have. My boyfriend who is a HUGE fan said that he nearly wasn't going to put it on the album.
You die, and then, from your own perspective/perception of this universe/reality ends. This is true for every human being that has ever existed, and then ceased to exist. The universe, for them, ends, not with a bang, with a tear and a whimper. Everything dies.
Haven't listened to this in years and for some reason just ended up finding this video again tonight. I've moved on to more "positive" music as of late but Reznor made some tunes that definitely spoke to a part of my life. He's coming through town in two weeks (on the day after my birthday, actually) and I just may have to go see the show. Actually, I am going - just made up my mind :-)
Sorry it's been so long since I have posted on this, but he actually did come back and has chosen to stay here through his high school graduation and is talking about college here. Seems that my stability, despite feeling torn apart from the inside is what made him decide to stay. We have had our ups and downs of course and both he and I are always having to deal with his mother who plays on guilt like it was a musical instrument. We go day by day, week by week..It's worth it.Thanks so much man!
it's so sad to think he lost many fans cuz of this CD and all others after it I luv all NIN just so all ya know by the way i love the na na's after the 1st whoo-ooooo
The snake skin is symbolic of the old life he's shed off (drugs, etc...) and the flower is symbolic of new beginnings. /I'm sleep deprived //Just made that up ///AMAZING SONG
@insideofgod you are one of the strong ones. you WILL make it. mindsstormsabrewin nailed that one on the head. your children love you and you love to hate yourself. but you really you love yourself.
Agreed on your interpretation, however I beleive this song is about his Grandfather dying. Since the lyrics refer to a 'he'. And I believe 'I'm Looking Forward to Joining You, Finally' is about his Grandmother passing.
Partially correct. Many commercial artists make very good songs, it all depends on what you like, however I know where you're coming from with that, and I agree that a lot of it is just bullshit made by pop stars or rappers just trying to get famous.
i don't really like trent's voice that much but i think the music speaks alot, like the guitar riffs in the beginning: so amazing, makes me feel strange!
@insideofgod That's not a normal compulsion. I'd seriously see a doctor about that if you have access to health care. Do it for your kids sake. I say that as someone who's felt the heavy blanket of depression on my own life.
I disagree. The Fragility version was much better than the album version. Especially Robin's guitar and Charlie's theremin were breathtakingly beautiful. The current line-up has never been as good as this either.
i truly cannot describe the place this song takes me to
The best part is from 3:00 . His music is so deep.

this song takes me to a place i cannot describe. the lyrics mixed with the perfect instrumentals give me a sense of majestic euphoria
I can't explain what i feel when i hear their songs... thank you Trent, thank you NIN...

Forgot about this beauty. Still one of my favorites.
one of my favorites
This... is my absolute favorite NIN song.
It is beyond amazing. xoxo.
so crazy to think this song is about his grandma dying. but the song itself, you can tell how meaningful it is to him in his voice
You die, and then, from your own perspective/perception of this universe/reality ends.
This is true for every human being that has ever existed, and then ceased to exist.
The universe, for them, ends, not with a bang, with a tear and a whimper.
Everything dies.
Love this version of this song and the video
This is THE best live version of TDTWWA
Live has energy. Studio has production... thy're both damn good, two completely different things in NIN's case, so I think it's cool.
It's on "And All That Could've Been" which is the Live Album they did of the Fragility Tour. Available at fine record stores everywhere!
Absolutely beautiful.

Agreed on your interpretation, however I beleive this song is about his Grandfather dying. Since the lyrics refer to a 'he'. And I believe 'I'm Looking Forward to Joining You, Finally' is about his Grandmother passing.
Классный саундтрек из сериала В поле зрения 5 сезон 10 серия,кому интересно!)
i remember on initial listens thinking that the guitars on this resembled a heavier Elastica...lol
Joking aside, brilliant tune :)
